I got this card, and I use full benefits all the time. For resy, I have a couple of good restaurants, and I just grab some gift cards in person. That triggers the credit. For rideshare credit, I just add lyft cash, and it triggers the credit. I'd say I travel twice a year, so the companion pass and the delta stays credit are always used. This card is definitely a keeper imo. Awesome video as always Sebby!
I think it's really hit or miss. I'm a fan (forcing function to try new places to bring P2 haha), but totally understand how people in suburbs might feel screwed.
✈🤍first year with this delta reserve and i definitely enjoy the expanded companion certificate, used it for my wife and i flying from NYC to Oahu, good value there. Next year we're gonna use it from NYC to Anchorage for a 2 week vaca. other credits i'm sporadically using such as ride share and Resy and the hotel stay was used right away with our Oahu trip. Delta sky club was utilized but i wish i could get the opportunity to try the new Delta One club here at JFK. Anyway, i do enjoy watching some of your videos for all these credit card info. Keep them coming!
This business variant is far better than its consumer counterpart for a few reasons. It’s a business card, which will keep you under 5/24. It’s the same $650 AF as the consumer one, but has more value in credits ($250 for Delta Stays vs. $200 on consumer). The same Companion Certificate. Same $2500 MQD Boost. And generally has a higher SUB than the consumer card. Only downside is the higher spend required for a business card. For me it’s a no brainer to get this first as long as you can handle the spend.
This video was awesome! I had a reservation for a couple hotels in New York… and I was going to stay in Conrad midtown to use my free night certificate in October. Long story short, Hilton cancelled my reservation out of the blue and emailed me saying that Conrad midtown will no longer be part of the Hilton portfolio starting June 5,2024. I was shocked! My wife and I loved this hotel. So now I have to book another hotel and pay out of pocket. So I’m very excited to try to use the delta stay credit and get the $250 back since I have the Amex delta business reserve. It’s going to be awesome paying ~$150-$200 as opposed to $300-400 for the one night.
Literally just got approved for this card yesterday and it should be arriving tomorrow. I’m a Delta loyalist with Platinum status for the year and I usually fly out of or connect through ATL. I’m hoping this helps with breaking the tie for upgrades while helping to boost my chances for status next year because of threshold changes with Delta. That was the deciding factor for me and why I chose this card over the Amex platinum to start my AMEX journey. Long term plan is to get the Gold and Platinum AMEX but I’ll see how this goes for now.
@@AskSebbyBusiness Exactly. I’m new to credit cards outside of the ones I have through Navy Federal so the whole genuine AMEX thing is new for me. I’ve watched a lot of your videos over the years and I think I want to get the Gold and then Platinum next but I want to make sure to time it right to ensure I’m able to meet the spending requirements to get all the welcome offers ✈️
That's a good clarification on what counts as a "visit". Visiting 4 lounges in a 24 hour period is uncommon for me but visiting 2 is within my realm of reality. In those cases popping just 1 visit pass is better than popping 2.
Just got mine Monday. Delta loyalist and live in ATL. I hope it serves me well for the next few years before I have it switched to the platinum. Plus I know its nerdy but I wanted the limited edition reserve with 33% metal from a 747.
There are no Resy restaurants anywhere near me, sucks. Uber credit only works in USA sucks also, any travel type card should not limit Uber credits to USA only.
Out of curiosity, where are you based? Yeah, I find Amex cards (in general) are pretty meh for people that live abroad. Even Amex Gold (4X on specifically U.S. supermarkets) is tough for some snowbirds who spend 50/50 in Canada/US.
I was denied at the SkyLounge today despite having a DRC. According to the Lady employee, my ticket is basic economy. I thought having the DRC was having an access to the lounge. The CSR said, I need to have the physical card with me to gain access. But again, the Lady employee said it was because of the ticket I hold… Having a backed economy ticket will not benefit me from having DRC. 😢
✈️ looking at getting the Amex gold business for the 4x gas reward cause I spend a lot on gas. It also has a 150k SUB. I have the ink cash and Amex BBP. Thoughts?
I think it's a good pickup, especially if you spend a lot on gas :) Solid card: th-cam.com/video/dkQMJZVJC3c/w-d-xo.html Credits might be a bit annoying but your net value should work out.
@@AskSebbyBusiness Mainly for the free bags. I'm on my way out of trying to earn status, messing with their RUCs, limited access companion pass, Resy credits, etc. I'll still use Delta domestically heading East over AA, but Alaska is getting my business West and International.
I upgraded to the Reserve this year from a Platinum card. I've used the lounge around 10 times and have gotten 2 upgrades to 1st class and many comfort+ upgrades despite only having Silver status. The reserve card puts me at the front of the line of the Silver Status folks (if I remember correctly). However, I didn't know I could use the lounge on arrival. The other benefits are not as important to me, having only used the companion fare once.
Sebby, excellent info ! One question, I just got Reserve card. What I can't find answer to is does both my wife/partner and I both need to have Reserve card to get Medallion status points when I book under my SkyMiles acct using amex reserve card, or does she not get status points for her flight . Appears to me that I get all status points, and she does not, even if I were to get her a Platinum card. So my wife not quality for upgrades, etc? Can she sit with me if we get "Upgraded".
a) for spend = MQDs go to the primary cardholder; she would need her own (new application) Delta Reserve b) for flights = it's based off the person flying; you can't "take" her MQDs from travel c) if you have status = your companions on the same itinerary will be in the same "boat" for upgrades
I have this business card, and also the Delta Platinum business card. If I upgrade my Platinum to another Reserve, will I get an additional $2500 MQD boost? Thanks for all the great info!
If you already have the Delta reserve business then you can't upgrade your platinum business to another delta reserve business. If you had a regular platinum then you could upgrade to reserve and have the extra 2500
@Newton240sx Just answering this as a data point- I did upgrade my Delta Platinum Business to a Reserve Business. So I now hold 2 Reserve business cards 👍🏼 I may go for a 3rd if I cancel my Marriott Business card because I am getting tons of value from my Reserve cards. The question is still unanswered if I will get the $2500 MQD Boost for each card, or only one boost.
@alyssabenshoff1012 ahhhhh wow okay thank you for correcting me! Let us know if you get the boost. I got my delta platinum business over 1 month ago and I'm still waiting for 2500 mqd to kick in.
Just for cards haha. I'd play MTG if the "cost of entry" wasn't as high (have friends who've spent $5k to $10k+). I do play Marvel Snap (different but still a fun logic based card game!)
I don't like that the companion ticket has limitations for international flights. If I can book a business class ticket from LAX to Japan and able to use the companion ticket, then this card would be a no brainer. But to fly to Mexico or Costa Rica, this is not that appealing.
The card would cost substantially more if companion pass was long-haul business international. You're asking for like thousands of dollars of a free ticket, there is no way it would be profitable for Delta/Amex
Sadly, it doesn't even work for Delta One anymore (i.e., JFK to LAX), like it did in the past. I think the issue is that it becomes TOO good for people who were already willing to pay $$$ for first or business.
✈️ There’s no way I’m getting platinum status under the new Delta Reserve formula, plus I haven’t been able to use my companion ticket for 2024 despite trying 3 times - seat categories not available. Went from a card catering to customers to one where you had to work with their preferences and idiosyncrasies. Almost like you’re working for THEM. No, thanks.
Not shareable unless you add them as an AU for $175 per year (and also now per member so prohibitive expensive on your end). Definitely not ideal with a family :( www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/card-application/apply/prospect/terms/delta-skymiles-reserve/45094-9-0?key=tncBody&rwdFlag=rwd#offer-terms "Visits are non-transferable and may only be used by the Eligible Card Member" Your best bet for 5 (you+wife+3 kids) would probably be Priority Pass via Venture X (add up to 4 AU for free for no fee).
Uber Eats isn't triggering it automatically. So TECHNICALLY doesn't work for it. Some people have been able to secured message them to get it to be done manually. YMMV on if that's the case moving forward.
As a person who holds the Club infinite and Aeroplan version of this card and loves in suburbia, I would really hate it if Chase or Amex Canada did this to their cards too. Delta stays credit 75%, Uber 50%, resy 25%. Having to spend 75k with tax payments to get guesting privileges? Yikes!
IMO guesting is near the point where it probably makes sense for P2 to get their own cards (and the associated credits). I guess it's helping with the crowding though. In our experience, Centurion Lounges have gotten a lot better. Delta Sky Clubs can still be pretty hectic though.

I did the personal Delta Reserve, on the personal channel, last week. That was more meant as an unboxing + comparison vs. Amex Platinum. Very similar cards (so maybe wasn't worth a business channel video on the business variation), but this was filmed/edited separate and independent of that one.

Kinda nuts that the Delta reserve card gets you FEWER points on Delta purchases than the platinum. 3x vs 5x
Amex's multiplier landscape is a bit of a mess lol
Also, the fact you have a lot more optionality with those MR points!

💯💯💯
Hopefully they expand their network / footprint. I'm expecting the credit to become more commonplace (reminder that Amex owns Resy).
