Life of Biharis in Bangladesh |

Geneva Camp in Bangladesh refers to one of the largest informal settlements in Dhaka, the capital city. It is primarily inhabited by Urdu-speaking people, commonly known as "Biharis," who #migrated to #Bangladesh during the partition of India in 1947.
The settlement was established in the early 1970s by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to provide temporary shelter for Urdu-speaking people who were stranded in Bangladesh after the Bangladesh Liberation War. Over time, the camp evolved into a permanent settlement.
The living conditions in Geneva Camp are challenging. The overcrowded settlement lacks proper infrastructure, including reliable access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and basic healthcare services. Many residents live in small, cramped dwellings made of tin sheets and bamboo poles.
Despite these difficulties, the residents of Geneva Camp have shown resilience and have established a tight-knit community. They have adapted to their circumstances and created various small businesses within the camp to support themselves. The camp has its own schools, mosques, and community centers that provide educational, religious, and social services to the residents.
Efforts have been made by various organizations and NGOs to improve the living conditions in Geneva Camp. Initiatives include the construction of concrete houses, installation of sanitation facilities, and provision of vocational training programs to empower the residents economically.
However, Geneva Camp still faces numerous challenges related to the lack of basic amenities, limited employment opportunities, and limited access to healthcare and education.

Bangladesh govt offered them citizenship before. Most of them accepted but some turned down the offer because of the dream of Pakistan ; They do not accept the People's Republic of Bangladesh.But Pakistan does not show the responsibly of taking these poeple back.Thank you

I am Bangladeshi Alhamdulillah, and I am watching from Uae.
you know how many people rohingya and Geneva camp in Dhaka main bhi lot of people in other district. one of the most problem this is small country. already 18 crore plus population stay in our country.
17/18 lakh Rohingya + I don't know exactly how many people in Bihari camp. so it is very difficult for our government handle this is problem. please don't justify little people talking negative. Thank you so much
