    Do you have a modified Pentax mount lens? Last time I tried this with Pentax SMC 50mm lens the aperture lever was not letting me attach it to the EOS body.

    Wow thank you very much!!! Now I´m looking for a bargain priced broken Nikon EM to take out it´s focusing screen. I´ll try it for sure. I can´t wait. Maybe I´ll buy a second 6D body just to enjoy my many manual focusing lenses.

    That Nikon focusing hack is a great idea.

    Cool video. I bought a used Nikon EM and tried swapping the screen. it looks cool in teh viewfinder, but when i manually focus, the photo ends up being out of focus. and when i use the autofocus, it looks blurry in the viewfinder but is in focus in the photo. So there must be some calibration that needs to be done for the different focus screen.

      hmm.. I didn't had that issue perhaps you put the focusing screen facing the wrong way?

      @@Kim_Alexander It would be nice if that was it. I tried it both ways and it seemed the same. I will mess with it some more. Some googling has shown some other people on forum saying that there can be issues with the thickness. I will keep playing. Thanks for the quick reply!

      @@JoeDotCom00 I have noticed that the focusing screen is not as acrurete as an old analog camera is is.
      I have blamed that on the viewfinder and that is hard to see with the magnification that the viewfinder ofer.
      I'm planing to set up an obstacle course where I put the 6D against a sony A7 to see witch one focusing faster and more accurate in real life situations.
      I think in that video I have to messure the thickness to just to see if that could be a factor. How ever my initial impression is that the focusing screen is acrurete but a little bit hard to work with.

    Cant you shoot and focus using lcd screen on canon 6d?

    • @Kim_Alexander
      @Kim_Alexander  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@japsvera4025 you could but focus performance is limited since a dslr can't use the phase detection af then. Though that don't matter with a manual lens 😂
      Personally I always prefer a viewfinder for manual lenses it's makes focusing easier. A great optical viewfinder with a good split inagr is also superior to an electronic viewfinder.
      However I want a dslr that is as great as my old Chinon CM-5 The optical viewfinders was amazingly good in the analog era.

    Does it effect metering?

    You don't need to jack up the volume levels. This isn't FM radio.

    Just get Magic Lantern and use focus peaking function in live view mode. Much better than this hack, safer as well.

    • @Kim_Alexander
      @Kim_Alexander  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dejanjaksic6169 no thanks in that case I can just get a mirrorless camera.
      Changing focus screens is not a hack, since it's a feature of the the camera and canon sells different focus screens them self.
      I took the one from the nikon since it match in size and gives me and optical viewfinder with the split image view.
