This episode always stood out to me as one of the more intense in the series, and it really feels like it leans heavily into the travel aspect of the programme. It's one of the reasons River Monsters is so great; you really get a sense of place too.
First they will bombard us with recycled clips, but with a different title.. I too wish they would just upload the episodes... By the views it's clear that's what people want!... Oh well... Fingers crossed 🤞
Heather Ross-White here from Loire France , great to see you again , you tube is easy for Bath expats to see your work , last one excellent , looking forward to this one
23:00 with the hooks on a closed loop for a leader as they've shown here you can add it to the main line with a prussics loop. That makes it easy to remove it as you retrieve the main and avoid the risk of snagging. It makes it slower, but safer, and can also avoid fouling your line when setting or storing it.
Just for interest's sake, Mami Wata is an ancient name for the priestesses of Isis, Mammissi, who were associated with water, the source of all life and baptism, which predates Christianity. Over time, with the advent of colonialism and new introduced Religions, indigenous spirits and traditions have been warped so as make them dangerous or evil. Mami Wata is portrayed as a mermaid, much the same as Aida Wedo (serpent/mermaid) and other Voudoun spirits. The mermaid form is actually the moment of transformation from deity to sacred animal (in this case, a fish) - or the other way round. The fish is still featured in modern day Religion, such as in Christianity, as symbolic of the Messiah. It represents the body of Spirit.
@@neilperry2224 Yes - the waters, to the ancients, referred to both the infinite void of outer space and the watery abyss of the oceans. Both seem really empty and devoid of life, however as we all know, life comes from there. So Mami Wata is really "Mother of the waters".
Lo bonito de River Monsters, es que no solo trata de pesca, es o fué un programa que enseña realidades, Historia, Personas, es muy educativo y entretenido. No cansa mirar Capitulos repetidos. Jeremy no Cansa, El encanta.❤
Thanks You Jeremy, mi héroe Bonito, por haberte arriesgado.❤️
I don’t know how he’s still alive with these mosquitoes trying to give him malaria again and the locals threatening him. And the scary fishing techniques. it’s insane but I swear God is keeping him alive until his time comes

Sturgeon in the rivers of Canada are huge, my Dad said back in the day catching sturgeon longer then a couch was normal. Occasionally they'd catch what they jokingly called ' a shark '. One that would be 15 footers. Longest they caught was 16 feet. Used nightlines to catch them and they would fish during the day too of course.
Those are no kambacatfish at the end thats an other kind of catfish just look at the finns 🤷🙈😅 totally different fish and why doesnt he say something about it, theres just to less kamba's left 🙈

Yea S2EP5 also had that, both quite intense episodes with a lot of danger in them
Be a good watch if it wasn't for the adverts ruining it

I think there is a puffer fish called the Congo puffer and in the pet trade I think it goes for around £800. Could you try catch one.
How do you know they're not in Antarctica, have you tried fishing there yet?
Can you upload the episode where Jeremy goes to Argentina to catch a killer stingray?

And i bet the Belgian Government arent apologising about the abuses.
Why would they apologize for something that happened decades even centuries ago , where none or extremely few of the people involved are alive ?
@rodrigocruz5609 ask Tony Blair
They seem like reasonable folk. I'm sure an apology is all it would take. Maybe you should go on behalf of Belguim. Good luck.
@dr.octogan1656 no way I think Tony Blair was just after being made a UN Ambassador
