I think he actually does care for her, and wants to be in her life for more than just sex. He wants to "fill the boyfriend's shoes", but she won't let him. Instead, she drags him along. It feels like she's making it about sex and he's playing along, saying "we might as well just fuck" as if it's not the whole point. I don't see the ending as him saying that the other girls - her friends - would cheat. I see it as him continuing to desilude himself from thinking that he might actually have a shot. The same way he kept repeating "she's got a boyfriend anyway", he now adds things about her appearance that eventually add up to her being "a type" of girl - she's got her tongue pierced, she wears skinny jeans, and she's got friends who are the same. And he'd also take the friends out, and they'd also play with him even though they have boyfriends, so she's not that special anyway. I am, however, not convinced that she is not, indeed, special to him. I think he's also talking sense into himself that that's just how girls like her act, and it doesn't mean that she actually likes him or that he is special to her. Anyhow, as you can tell, I've listened to this song an absurd amount of times, and I love that you're reacting to The 1975, they're absolutely brilliant! (and I agree with the other comments, their music just gets better and getter)
In the music video for it the "boyfriend" she has is a metaphor for drug addiction and he is trying to fill the space that taking drugs has in her life. Tbh most of the 1975's songs are about sex, relationships and/or drugs in a poetic way from various different perspectives and stages in life.

She has about 70 victories in various vocal competitions. Today Diana releases a new author's song "Revelation", in which she wrote both the music and the words herself. If you understand what it is to sing with soul, then this is about her. Meet Diana Ankudinova and her song Revelation will be available in an hour on her channel.
