    Great tree, I love the random transform, I've never heard about it before and it's very useful. That leaf was very low tech though :D but doesn't matter, this inspired me to make my own trees, I'll report back when I made mine.
    One addition that you didn't do, and might be useful to someone following along is to "Apply all transforms". When you unwrap your tree trunk, you see an unwrapped cube however it is no longer a cube, it shows like that because scale was not applied. If someone want to make a treebark, they can apply scale unwrap and add it to somewhere on the texture map, then paint some tree bark material on that section of the texture map. What size a texture should be since since if you add 1024 textures and make 1000 trees on a level with that resolution that will eff up the framerate etc..
    The videou could have been improved by you actually exporting out the tree (you might need to join the parts into 1 model) and tell a bit more about how it will transport into a game engine, because there are a lot of things that can go wrong. Smoothing groups on export ( for unreal) material slots, material sides (this is just 1 sided material, renders good in Blender but not in Unreal etc..
    Next project: grass and foliage :-) 1 texture map for more foliage type or 1 for each foliage item?

    • @WinglettEntertainment
      @WinglettEntertainment  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Laszlo Ivanyi some good comments, thanks. There’s plenty of videos on exporting however so don’t really want to duplicate. Good point on the unwrapping. Been working in so many low poly models my unwrapping has gone downhill.

      Winglett Entertainment youre tutorial is great! But instead of duplicating the leaves as more objects, you go to edit mode and you press shift+D (duplicate) for every time you want a duplicated leaf. At the end you will have one object and a nice looking tree!

    • @WinglettEntertainment
      @WinglettEntertainment  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Pls someone help.

    • @jackmakmorn
      @jackmakmorn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there Boxy. As far as I understand your problem you can not add the image as a plane. It is a somehow annoying thing which isn't quite selfexplaining if you are new - but it is easy to solve. You open your file, click on Edit, preferences, type in search image and choose the searchresult 'images as planes'. Make sure you tick it and just close. Now, back in objectmode, click shift + A and add an image as plane. After this you can use the option on every blendfile without having to do all this again. I wrote this from memory so if there is something not working you can tell me and I will check on the computer 🤘

    One problem that I'm not quite sure how to solve is using planes as the branches. Because planes only have normals pointing in one direction (the direction with the image) the underside of the leaves isn't going to render in Unity. Unless I'm missing something, which I hope is the case because this is stupid simple and I love it. Any advice here?

    • @calebstanton6986
      @calebstanton6986 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just fixed the same problem. You need to change the 'path mode' setting on the export to 'copy'. Unfortunately Unity renders objects differently than blender, so even with the textures applied, parts of the tree are still grey. The transparent regions of the branch texture are replaced with the default unity material, so the tree looks like cardboard with pictures of branches pasted on.

      If you mean what I think you mean then you can just render the finished tree as an image, just remember to set up blender to render empty space as transparent and remove everything else from the camera's view, then you can add the image in the same way you did with the leaves. if you're talking about using it in a game engine the there will be a function for that.
