Hi Matthew! I really appreciate the time you take on reviewing products, and how precise you always are. I have an Orbit manual timer that I've had for quite a few years and it works great! Thank you so much for sharing!

I love ELEY's quality and 10 year warranty on all of their products. I'm planning on purchasing their 25' and 50' hoses, couple hose guides and three more quick connect plugs. You'll soon realize that you need many more plugs (for every wand, hand sprayer, etc.) than connectors. I own most every watering accessory they sell and don't regret the cost. Honestly, their products should outlast me due to their quality. Wait till you see their size and build quality compared to box stores, no comparison.

I’ve used Rachio in my city garden for years and its weather adjustment has always been pretty accurate. Overall, the Rachio system has worked well. Country garden needed lots of zones and installer used Rainbird. I am still mystified as to why the Rainbird makes the adjustments it makes and tech support was no help. I think it’s the typical situation where Rain Bird is an older non- tech company that got someone to do some software for it that isn’t very good or up-to-date. The first unit I had was very difficult to connect to wi-Fi in the first place and was difficult to keep connected. The current unit is better, but still has some glitches working with the app. I agree that Dramm makes great products. Their brass Y valves are the only ones that I have found that work for more than one season. The individual valve handles are long, so actually easy to turn. Thanks for another useful video.

Those Eley products look awesome. I have a hose that has a “water welded” sprayer on it that I can’t get off so I had to buy a new hose to use my Dram wand…..I am going to order some of those quick connectors! Thanks

  • @FrediOlson

Matthew, I have so much to say! First, I bought that Bhyve you have on your recommendation. It is the best timer I have ever used. I love that I can control it from my phone. Next, I can't say enought about Eley. I have their hose reel, a Hoselink and a LIberty reel. Eley is my favorite because it is so smooth when winding and unwinding the hose. Just wish they offered a shelf above it. I have the hose, but I've never put it on because the one I still have is still in excellent shape. One thing I will say is you do have to winterize the elbow. I made the mistake of leaving mine on a couple of winters ago and had to replace it. They did at 1/2 the price. And, Eley does have the connector shutoffs. I have those. They are very heavy, but I can shut off the water at the accessory. Makes it really nice. Dramm is my next favorite, although I will say I do NOT like the turrett sprinkler; in fact I dispise it. I really got it for the spinner in the middle, but it barely ever puts out any kind of flow and the other positions just are useful for me. I have a pretty good impact sprinkler, but if I ever have to replace it, I will look into the Dramm. OMH Water-weld! I had that a couple of seasons ago and it is a nightmare. Now I look only for solid brass (if you can find it). 'Nough rambling! Go Drip!

Interesting tidbit on winterizing the elbow! Thank you! Mine has stayed outside during winter for 6+ years and I’ve never had an issue. I do bring the hoses inside though and make sure the rest of the device has very little water in it. I’ll keep that in mind this winter and blow the water out of it. They have changed that specific part over the years though so it’s possible the older version that I’m used to doesn’t have that issue.

@@TheSouthernersNorthernGarden I might have made the mistake of leaving my hose connected, I can't remember. But last year I just took the whole reel off and stored it. It's really easy. Didn't feel like unwinding 100 ft of hose! LOL

@TheSouthernersNorthernGarden ill get the timer you recommended as well, especially when we will travel internationally, it's good to have remote control. When we built this house, we make sure we have plenty of hose spigot outside for the irrigation system. Your videos are always informative, thanks again.

Hello Mathew! My favorite watering can is The French Blue Watering Can from Gardeners Supply. It holds 3 gallons, but the way it is balanced, I can carry it throughout the garden.
You should check it out before you make your next watering can purchase. I have purchased may of these from my gardening friends for gifts and they all love it.
Thanks for the honest reviews on the other products. Very helpful!! 😃

Wow! You make me want that hose reel, Matthew. I’ve never heard of water welding, but it makes sense. If you ever review or have tried a solar water bubbler for the birdbath, I’d sure like to know. Thanks as always.

You know I get so many emails asking me to try those and I’ve never responded to them. 😂 Since I’ve always had fountains I’ve never had a bird bath. I’ve looked at them, just never found one I like enough to pick up.

Eley hoses are just the absolute best. I think the reel has ball bearings so it does wind up smoothly and easily, as you demonstrated. I’ve not had any kinking in the hose. It does have some weight to it but it’s not what I would call heavy. I was so tired of dragging around the very heavy 100 ft hose I had, just a no name hose that was good as far as not leaking, but it was so heavy and stiff I had trouble putting it on any kind of reel or hanger. I then “made do” for a while with various hoses from the big box stores but they just did not last. When I finally did the math and saw how much I was spending replacing hoses and buying hose repair kits, I realized it made financial sense to get an Eley. I’m so glad I did. No more hose frustration!!

😂I love my watering can so much I bought a second one to keep them on opposite sides of the property and gave my old cans away to a new gardener. I love my NeverKink hoses because they have a lifetime warranty with Lowe’s and I actually get angry if I see ‘someone’ has left my hose sprayer on the hose over winter in storage or dropped on the ground. Gardeners love their tools! 😊

    • @TheSouthernersNorthernGarden
      @TheSouthernersNorthernGarden  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

I’ve had a NeverKink hose before I found Eley. I found it didn’t hold up to its name at all. 😂 I gave it away so it could be someone else’s problem. Haha

@@TheSouthernersNorthernGarden Working at Lowe’s I’ve got access to product daily and the current hoses are over 20 years old. I’m waiting for the off season sale to buy a few more so there’s less tugging across the lawn from one bed to the next. 😂

Hoselink isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be. The first one I got, birds nested in and completely ruined it. $200+ down the tubes. I purchased a new one and I have to keep the openings on either side of the hose blocked to keep birds out. It doesn’t always fully retract either. When it doesn’t, it’s a pain to pull it all out to get it to fully retract again. I haven’t tried Vego, but I’ve spent my last dime on Hoselink.
