    Nice one Shane, This pattern has always scared me a little, but after watching this video it scares me a lot!!! No just kidding; taking it one step at a time seems to make it look a little easier than I thought. Many thanks for this and all of your videos, they are so useful and I find myself re-watching some again and again for reference. Cheers mate and have fun,
    Joe

    you picked a very interesting path to get the figure painted, it was a nice video to watch (and will certainly be rewatched once i get to the point where i dare to build a cassino diorama).

      it was one of those videos that was a bit of a journey to make so it kinda reflects it on the edit, but I will refine the followup Monte-Cassino video that's in the work ! ;)

    Shayne, would you consider doing som of the Italian Telo Mimetico uniforms that the 12th SS seems to have used at Normandy? I have a 120mm that I will try the appropriate LifeColor shades on, but not sure where to start!

    Nice tutorial. Few comments though. In the splinter camo there were no rounded edges. All the brown and green patches were really geometrical. I still see a lot of rounded edges here. But I understand that can be a bit tricky on this scale. More disturbing is that the water bottle was NEVER blue. Some Luftwaffe field gear was. Things like the bread bag and ammo pouches for the mp40 for instance, but the water bottle was the same issue as the Heer. The FJ used both LW and Heer breadbags, so both LW blue as khaki/brown/green are correct. Also the placement of the water bottle is an impossible one here. The water bottle had a hook to attach it to a D-ring on the breadbag. And a leather strap to loop it through the leather loop on the front flap of the breadbag. So it was always secured to the breadbag. There was no other place for it. You are putting so much time in painting an as accurate as possible camo, if you do not get these things right as well, you might as well have painted the uniform purple with yellow dots.

    Another great tutorial! Why add wash before the camo?

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      the wash is to add shadows to the smock before I add camo, I now manually paint in my shadows but at the time I used to washes to achieve this

    Great tutorial Shane.
    Figures have almost always gone in the trash bin for me AFTER I build the model. I am going to change that and this is good reference for me.
    This figure is Resin?
    One note. The music was really drowning you out at a few points in the video. Great commentary, and very fitting music, just not at the same time.

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks Kenny ! in later the videos the music and commentary is balanced easier to follow.
      the figure is a plastic Gen 2 figure from Dragon models
      really great to hear that this video is helping and encouraging you to tackle figures again ! Hope you have fun with it !
