  • They call Mississippi the "Bush Tracks."
In rural somewhat secluded areas of the state, acres of land lend itself to some of the best training grounds for national title holding harness racehorses. These aren't you're average races. In true Mississippi fashion, it's also an opportunity for fellowship and fun for the entire family. According to the United States Trotting Association Mississippi has a strong history in harness horse racing. Since 1976, Mississippians have trained and sold some very expensive first-class winners.

I have seen the future of harness racing. And it’s in Mississippi ! Harness racing should be supporting this 100%

It’s good to see the people supporting this, but the talent level leaves lots to be desired.
Im sure the local horse folk do their best, but from what i see they are a disaster waiting to happen.
This is good for local hillbilly racing like 99% of all other small towns all over the US, but they are light years away from being able to compete or race at higher levels of skill and results.
It’s ok to race mule vs mule, but these boys would be like deer in the headlights at major tracks.
I personally like these small fair racing than the big boy tracks because the small fair racing folk do it cause they love the horses and do it out of love for the sport.
Wish governments would put some money into this to help the horsemen get better quality equipment and horses.
These people do love what they do, but they must understand not to think that what they do is even close to major harness racing.
It’s like me thinking i can compete with real race car drivers just because i sat in a Lambo in a car dealership….
Enjoy the ride, but just remember it is only a day at a carnival, not broadway.

I will go on record, I bet that there are some pretty good horse trainers here and they never get/got any recognition.

I can't find a record of any standardbred named Public Enemy or Publicenemy. Have I got the spelling wrong?

@@markmiller9793 Thanks. I'd tried the USTA site before but missed the horse search page. So I'm persuaded he's not a mythical horse now.

You lose credibility when you say they are going 55 MPH. It's a short article, get the numbers straight.

First of all this video is nothing but lies lol Public Enemy won $56,000 and was never owned by anyone in Mississippi. Also no harness horse or Standardbred has gone 55 mph and the horse he says he owns and has high hopes for because he is “great gaited” is laughable. The horse is obviously not good gaiters or he wouldn’t have knee spreaders on. Lastly those Mississippi horse cannot compete with the really good harness horses. This video is comical.
