I am an 11th grade tenor sax player and I need a new sax but am on a budget, I was wondering if the Selmer Signet is a good one...or what do you recommend?
well I'm a huge selmer fan, obviously the signet is not their top stuff but it might have been made by Buescher which would still make it a pretty good horn so I would recommend it. try getting the serial # then you could find out the year.
the 1960's were good. maybe a bit before and after but I'm not sure. there's a website that just deals with saxophone serial #'s and you can find out from there. sorry I don't remember the name but research it a bit and you'll find it.
It depends on what your budget is. I play on a reference 54 Selmer which is a pro model. but I would go with a Super action 80 or older conn saxophone or try out the Yangisawa they are pretty nice saxophone. I have a friend that plays on Yangisawa he loves it. I'm form Fond du Lac Wisconsin. I would buy a saxophone from Mike's Music they are the best for saxophone needs the guy that owns it is a professional saxophone teacher and teaches the fond du lac community look them up on the online.
You sound really good and moon river is a great song choice.
