From what I know, the 480 developed a sight glass issue on the trip up. The 480 train (Second departure) had a relatively new crew and weren't entirely comfortable with operating with only one sight glass. So they traded locomotives at Silverton as the crew that bought 482 up was more experienced.

That it did, from what I've been told it keeps spitting the packing out on that side, so until it gets some time for deeper analysis, it gets to leak.
