One of the rugby greats, not just a player but as a person. Fantastic story and continuing to grow and lead. Live with no regrets..great mantra, alfoa aku uso.
I’m very impressed with your podcast Nigel and Sela it’s nice to hear Tana’s journey when he was young and became a teenager now I knew he played for Junior Kiwis and trial with Newcastle before he became an All Blacks wow anyway i love to tell my journey from Auckland to Sydney in 1982 for a trial with Roosters Roger Brother who was coaching City Newton in the 80s gave me the letter to the Roosters.Continue your podcast love listening to others journey and plenty of opportunities to help other young Samoans athletes out.Malo le fa’asoa cheers.
Back in 2000, All Blacks played Scotland at Carisbrook in Dunedin. My first year out of high school from Whanganui, I've moved down to Dunedin. I was invited to a friends house for dinner where Alama Ieremia & Tana were also going to be there. Funny dinner talks and a great memory to treasure forever. Nearing the end of dinner I said I was going out to catch up with mates in the city. Tana without hesitating offered to drive me. "Yes please!" feeling blown away. We pull up outside the nightclub and everyone see's Tana in the car, then I hop out and everyone that knew me was like.."Ayeeee...how does Shaka know Tana?" hahahaha Tana was cheeky as too pretending to speak like a Maori and that he was my taxi driver when I was getting out. Chur Tana
I remember Tana taking a group of players to Ramelton in Donegal to visit the birthplace of Dave Gallaher. Later met him at a book signing in Wellington when my wife and I went travelling. Class act.
Faafetai lava uso mo le talanoaga matagofie. Whilst the discussion is based around rugby/sports, the values and principles cut across all areas in our lives. Great pearls of wisdom being dropped, which has prompted alot of self reflection for me. Please continue to share your experiences and knowledge usos!
Sela needs to calm down with the cringe jokes. It’s not the radio station, don’t try so hard to be funny, you’ve got a good guest, no need to go overboard 🤦🏻♂️😂👍🏽, but good luck with the pod 🤷🏻♂️
