As a brit with quite a lot of experience with German culture: the 51:30 living bread is supposed to look ugly and sad, because it is canonically depressed and suicidal all the time. The joke is literally how miserable it is and how much it hates everything. His favourite hobby is watching the paint on his wall and it just despises fun. Basically a bread in a mid-life crisis, targeted towards kids, but understand way better by adults

Can't believe they didn't talk about how Garnt had to defend his all bread tastes the same take in front of the German crowd and was barely audible above all the booing he got. And Joey literally didn't have to say anything arguing against it and got a standing ovation. The best part was the judgment when Connor asked to cheer if you agree with Garnt, the crowd was DEAD SILENT. Like they said they never had a crowd that silent before. Needless to say Joey won that round lol You'd think getting booed for one minutes straight would traumatize a man enough not to pick fights with the Germans again, yet here we are...

That style of dishes is hard to make in a restaurant setting and is therefore not easy to get as a traveler or really (/overly) expensive.

But I get what you mean, there's a lot of slower cooked stuff one way or another within the processes. So the type of food that ends up working in restaurants/takeout are pretty limited. That is still a flaw with the cuisine of the country, eating out is a pretty big deal in most places, and it feels reasonable to say somewhere around 80-90% of countries have better takeout/street/restaurant food than Germany

😭 We have nice food in Germany... I agree on the boring cooked or steamend potatoes. I always switch them for any other potatoe based side dish like cream potatoe puree, potatoe croquettes, love fried potatoes with bacon and onions, rosemary oven potatoes and so on. Also the varity of sausages and the maybe hundrets of different versions of potatoe salads and pasta salads make our Grillparties (BBQ) one of the best parts of summer! My personal favourites: Käsespätzle (spätzle with cheese and fried onions), Semmelknödel mit Pilzrahmsauce (bread dumplings with mashroom cream sauce), Kartoffelpuffer mit Apfelmus (potato pancakes with apple puree), all the atumn/winter dishes with meat (fried goose or duck or some nice goulash with beef, venison or wild boar) with potatoe dumplings and red cabbage, just to name a few.

You know what's up. Also just all the regional dishes. From bavarian meats to northern green kale or fish.
A lot of touristy places have just melted into a mush of mid cuisine that is overprized and doesn't do our cuisine justice.
And then there is the fact that we infused italian, greek and turkish cuisine into our own.

Henry is also everywhere in The Netherlands!
I distinctly remember a kid from my highschool class talking extremely passionately about Henry the Hoover. Turns out his dad ran a parts shop that sold them.
I'm surprised to see the NL made it in the top 3 of Trash Taste Country Tierlist. For our basic cuisine there's not really a whole lot to talk about.
Sure, we mash potatoes in a pot and add literally anything edible in there and call it done. Any type of meat or vegetable, anything goes. We call it "Stamppot" literally translating to stomp pot cause we stomp all kinds of stuff in a big ass pot.
It's nothing fancy but it can be anything you like and the best part is that the pots are usually very big and filled to the brim so you have multiple days worth of food if you wanted to.
The cycling part is definitely true.
We got all these rules and shit. Heck, we even have "competitions" between cities wanting to be best city for cycling.
On the topic of best cities. Apparently a Dutch city won "Best City of Europe" this week. Amsterdam? Nah. Rotterdam? Nah. Amersfoort has been crowned best European city.

Our food is really nice, it's just not fancy. That also means everyone can cook it at home so restaurants don't really serve it. There has been an increase in Swedish restaurants the last decade though with more tourists wanting to try it.

Lived abroad in Norway for six years and agree. There are so many good things to say about Norway, so many things I loved, but the food is definitely not really among them. German food is definitely better imo.
Still, the landscape is just amazing, you can do everything from phone, pay anywhere with debit card and pretty much no matter where you are, you will have 4G mobile data, even in the underground or the middle of nowhere. In those fields, it beats germany by a long shot imo
