    Fast becoming my favourite fishing channel. Find you very personable, not some fucking know-it-all rushing through everything and making assumptions the audience already knows things. Excellent work, keep em coming

    • @Lifeonthebank

      It’s a bit stiff tbh but I used it last year for tench and they were fine. I was fishing a very weedy water so welcomed the extra backbone.

    Good Fishin! Although I do advocate putting a bank stick in by the edge of the river ( something to grab if you do go in , I may or may not be speaking from experience!) 🙈 well done Nick 🙌🏻

  • @wild_fishing_uk

    Hi Nick, is there any reason you hair rig the meat when chub fishing? Everything I've read suggests that hair rigging is a no-no for hitting chub bites.

    • @Lifeonthebank
      @Lifeonthebank  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I’m fishing static (with a ledger) I hair rig. If I’m letting the bait move (rolling meat or very light ledger I don’t). Just the way I’ve always done it. How about you? What’s your approach?

    • @wild_fishing_uk
      @wild_fishing_uk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Lifeonthebank thanks that's interesting, I have to say that I'm torn because everybody tells me to avoid hair rigging but I caught my best ever chub with hair rigged pellet wrapped in paste 🤔. I'll definitely give hair rigged meat a go with those new meat stops.

  • @dannyharris3580
    @dannyharris3580 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What are you using for bite indication? I have an opportunist rod and I cant imagine the tip being sensitive enough to show up shy chub bites but you've seemed to get on ok with it 🤣👍

    • @Lifeonthebank
      @Lifeonthebank  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I absolutely hear where you’re coming from. I’m also using 10lb hooklength and a heavy lead too! 🤣 Not a lot of finesse here is there! Lol. A lighter tip is a good idea but I wanted a shorter rod cos of the confined space. Also the water was really pushing through and a double figure barbel is very possible on that stretch. At the weekend I’m trotting maggots for them. Completely different, 12ft float rod, 4 or 6lb line. What’s your preferred set up out of interest?

    • @Lifeonthebank
      @Lifeonthebank  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I link ledger and free line too when the rivers right for it. Thanks for checking out the vids! 👍👍👍

    • @dannyharris3580
      @dannyharris3580 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply 👍😁 I've actually just got home from a little session on a small river, had 2 barbel out nothing big, 1 was 3lb 6oz and the other was 4lb 5oz 😁 I fish for the barbel and chub ledgering with my 5-17 gram dropshot rod and a small running rig using the korum running rig pack, I use a 10lb braid mainline a 10gram lead and 8lb hooklink to a size 6 hook with spam. It's amazing fun catching barbel on ultra light gear! No matter the size they put up such a fight!!😂. Haven't really found a place for my opportunist yet bar floater fishing for carp. Love the vids keep um coming!

    • @dannyharris3580
      @dannyharris3580 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How were you spotting bites? I noticed you touch ledgering at one point but there were other times when you weren't? Was there enough movement on the tip or were you watching the line? I only ask as I would rather not have to take the bite alarms etc and there's a few spots were my opportunist really would be the best weapon of choice 🤣

    • @Lifeonthebank
      @Lifeonthebank  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I think touch ledgering is quite a good way of getting away with a slightly heavier rod. You’re basically feeling for the bite. I was doing this as much as possible by you know what it’s like, the rod was put down fairly often. Thanks for the comments and fir watching the vids 👍👍👍
