I wonder if Larian put in any skill checks that will always fail just to see how many times Cohh savescums before giving up? Am I a monster for wanting to see that? Yes but you know you want to as well.
trying to metagame the players can be more harmful than good, better to let people scum so others can CHAD-TAKE-THE-FAIL
the problem with that is then people will just you know look up a guide to the game and see you cant pass it. and in games like this metagaming (from the game) often just feels very lame. like a boss you cant kill even if you shouldnt be able to. feels extra lame once you beat the game once and know yeah you cant kill them so just let your self get killed to save time
I run into 2 that "might" be possible.
The first one was a mechanism, and my strength check kept failing. (It was the one that rolls in the background.) I found that the mechanism was stuck, and solved it with a bit of brute force/damage. (No idea if high enough strength would do it as well. Maybe?) Actually, same goes for doors. Can´t lockpick them? Blast ´em.
The second was just an insanely high check to convince someone. (30) Maybe you could put together enough bonuses to roll it. Or you could hope for Nat 20.
You can succeed any roll with a crit.

funny thing with it being cohh it also prevents success streaks so it would probably start forcing him to fail rolls.
thankfully Larian made the game so that sometimes failures give better outcomes so savescum Cohh is going to get burnt

That is not bad design; it's actually quite similar to the strategy used in Disco Elysium. When you fail a roll, it means the outcome isn't what you desired, but that doesn't necessarily make it a negative aspect. In fact, it can lead to interesting consequences. For instance, a failed intimidation roll might result in a confrontation you would have otherwise missed, or a failed history roll could lead to a deeper investigation you wouldn't have undertaken otherwise.
True bad design would involve a successful dice roll leading to favorable outcomes, which is not the case here. Instead, it merely presents a different result from what you were initially aiming for.
To be honest, if you intend to constantly save and reload to avoid failure, it takes away from the game's intended experience. In such a case, you might consider using a hack or a mod to remove the possibility of failure altogether.
@Trevelyan83 so far, every time I failed a skill check, something even crazier happens than if I had succeeded. Reloading ever failed skill check makes for a boring game

Some people argue that Larian's decision to include occasional failures on rolls is bad design. However, these failures actually add depth and complexity to the gameplay. They lead to unforeseen consequences, making the game more engaging and realistic. Larian intentionally created a more immersive and challenging experience with these failures, and they shouldn't be dismissed without considering their purpose and impact on the overall gaming experience.
Failure is a part of D&D. The skill is in allowing you to "fail forward".

It's a little odd the game displays its version (assuming that's what that is?) on the game like this, under the minimap? Or is that something else? If it's the games current version, normally that's on the home screen, not on the game UI, it's a little immersion breaking. :( Unless it's something about verticality or some other crazy thing and I just don't know it.

More than likely something that'll get patched out/fixed in a day or two, once the team get a time to take a deep breath and refocus their energies after the massive launch they just had. Probably a small oversight in the excitement building up to launch; and probably something that they prefer to keep in for a while in full view as many reviewers are still playing on early / press versions with "known bugs." 😅
I was really looking forward to the playthrough but having to put up with the childish save reloading is not something I can bare right now. I'll try again later.

Idk maybe it's just me, But I don't understand how it's fun save scumming. Why not just play on very easy, Since there isn't any chance of losing anything or dying.
Too me it's like playing sports games and looking at the other teams plays, Coding a game and maxing out all your stats, Using auto aim in a FPS, Or playing a single player game and cheating. Or paying to win 😆

I like my one and only playthrough to be perfect.
Playing on easy and save scumming don't equal the same thing, you can relaid for a certain outcome and still desire tough fights

@@Otakahunt no, not really look at how many truly completed games he has done recently, and his talk of 100% is just that... talk. I do like cohhs take on exploring games, and there was a time that I thought he was the most "complete" let's player, but the completion rate for games has diminished and that is not an opinion but a fact.
The amount of viewership he would lose if he actually spent the time to 100% every game he played would be crazy. His idea of 100% just means he's playing it 100% as much as he wants. Which is better than getting burnt out on enjoying a game cause you wanna get every achievement lol he's the one who is supporting a multi person household with this, so he's doing something right
@@matthewquinn17 its fine, he can play however he wants just don't call it a 100% completion (or cohhpletion if the satire is not intended) when it rarely ever is. In far too many cases lately games are just left hanging. Like I said, I like cohh. I like his videos for the most part, and I like his chill outlook.
It's definitely satire, he's definitely not delusional enough to think he's actually doing a 100% run, when, in a game like this especially, would take multiple playthroughs to actually get all the achievements. Which would take hundreds of hours. 100 cohhcent, it's a running joke at this point

Me personally I find it harder to sit through vods that are longer than an hour. 30 minutes I find way easier to binge multiple episodes in a row via a playlist. Weird personal quirk I guess.
