(Donald Duck!)🎶 And his temper was a LOT more volatile. In KH, he still has a temper, true, but it's toned down quite a bit. The biggest tell however is his attitude towards Mickey... He is INCREDIBLY loyal to King Mickey, like, take a bullet for him loyal, and shows not a single sign of envy towards him.

I love how his "people are defined by their bonds" speech in DDD is the logical opposite of his "Everyone exists in the garden of their mind" speech in TWEWY.
This is why idiots confuse retconning with introducing new plot points that further a character. The person he is in DDD clearly lost everything. His entire world. Except his friends. His bonds. He redefined who he was because of his loss. A lot of people in this world could do with that mentality to be honest. Learning to redefine things based on newer information rather than remaining stuck on old information and expecting new things to relate to it.

In NEO he made a bet against Shinjuku's composer that Rindo would surprise him, pushing that angel to give him a chance, and it worked. And before the final battle, Joshua showed up to show Neku he "supported" him, but the secret logs reveal Joshua lent him a LOT of strength for that final stretch. Thinking deeply about it, Joshua is a jerk in person, but he did care and helped a lot in the back.
I think he also wanted the people of shibuya to solve the problems of shibuya. From the start he could just nuke every problem that shows up but what would anyone learn from that?
It's heavily implied(at least I think it is.) that DDD Joshua fucked up in some way and ruined the Shibuya his friends fought him over or that during the final week Shibuya was consumed by darkness and Joshua couldn't do anything about it. So instead of being an ass to his friends he's softer sure he could be his usual self but he'd be a hypocrite. It's in the way he talks about Rhyme or the way he talks to Neku where in which Joshua seems almost ashamed or upset with himself and Neku can't help but feel like he's looking in a mirrior.

To be fair, DDD Joshua holds the same sentiment that I believe Joshua would have after TWEWY. That being said, no amount of brainwashing, no magical stone of wisdom, nor insight from any god can convince me that Joshua wouldn't still be a massive, sassy prick regardless of his character development.
I was so surprised by how different Joshua was in the original game compered to DDD. That game introduced me to TWEWY cast and I finally got into it late last year. Joshua has become my favorite character regardless seriously this boy is awesome.

I think the main reason that Joshua seems completely different is in who he's currently sharing company with. Joshua maintains some degree of omnipotence and seems to know at least the cursory traits of Riku and Sora. He's more playful with Riku than he is with Sora because he knows that Riku has the mental capacity to be fucked with and the personality to be fun to fuck with. He wouldn't get the tiniest bit of resistance from Sora, bright as he is. He mostly just plays coy with them though, but that's because he knows their intentions are good and that they both are good people. Even with Riku he could probably tell that he exists on the path to light and has mostly left his darker personality behind. With Neku though, Joshua knows exactly what kind of person Neku is and by his own admission, Neku is who he thinks is the worst person in all of Shibuya. Most everything that Joshua does during the 2nd reaper game is done to either get under Neku's skin or test Neku. He wants Neku to falter, to show him the worst sides of himself so he can be even more justified in destroying Shibuya. That I think is the primary difference and I don't think it betrays his character at all. I think when he wants to be amicable, he can be, but I think dealing with Neku is a special case.
I can't believe this is so hard to understand. He's nicer now because he lost his whole world. He has a true perspective of what it's like to have nothing and be lost. He's grateful for the help and is probably relieved that Sora and Riku are capable world savers lmao.
I still wonder why they made him so nice in DDD. I'd love for DDD Joshua and TWEWY Joshua to meet. The TWEWY gang would have a conniption if they met their DDD counterparts. Neku already freaked out at the second Joshua before but he'd have a heart attack at meeting a nice Joshua. I think the KH events happened after TWEWY so he's already got character development and it's why he's nicer. I have seen many people say they played KH first and then got to TWEWY and were surprised at the big difference since they expected the nice Joshua to be there.

Actual spoiler: Joshua is only the physical Form of the composer in the RG and UG. He is in reality much older without a defined bodily Form. He exists as an angel / above angel just like Mr H (who is just an angel). The planes of existence are stacked on top of one another with higher frequencies the higher you go, higher frequency beings can see all lower frequency beings and realities. The composer is the highest of them all. Joshua's physical Form exists as him down - tuning his frequency to the RG. this severely limits his abilities though. What I mean to say: he's only nice Here for plot armor.
Or maybe since he knows that these two are outsiders to their world, maybe he can relax with his deliberate suspiciousness and be thankful for their contribution to saving his 'friends' souls, which at this point it feels clear that he does hold some sort of tsundere soft spot for Neku's gang by the ending of TWEWY and interactions in NEO!
It's partly a localization thing to be fair. Japanese Joshua is already not the Joshua we're used to (ie look at the TWEWY anime). He's not quite as harsh, I suppose because a little harsh is already ruder within Japanese culture than American? KH seems to have used that take more. But even then yeah he's being way too nice XD 2:28 is my favorite because he's so clearly egging Neku on intentionally to make him see the point--yes truly understanding people is hard and even impossible, yes it's still worth trying. The only experiences I have TWEWY is DDD and the TWEWY anime, in that order, my impressions are as follows: DDD: Joshua is a little weird but he’s a good boy TWEWY anime: this is a different character and he’s scaring me 😐
To be fair, everything Joshua did was to save Shibuya in the end. Even Killing Neku to allow him to win the Reaper's Game, proving Shibuya's worth. With Shibuya gone, as is assumed in Kingdom Hearts, he'd likely instead focus on saving the remaining pieces.(Neku and the gang.)
As someone who played TWEWY recently and just started Dream Drop, Joshua kind of gives me the feel of as if he developed a hit from the end of TWEWY. I haven't played much of Neo yet, so I can't say much on how Joshua acts there if he's in that(I'm presuming he is since Minaminoto and Neku are, but I could always be wrong), and how that compares to his DDD counterpart. All I really can say is with KH and TWEWY's multidimensional travel, this Joshua is somehow canon, but I feel like maybe something really bad happened between his depressed tone and how he talks about his friends and having tried to save them.
I don't mean or one sided with TWEWY cast, but I keep seeing folks say that Joshua too nice Hey man, if he and his dream fluid of friends came from a bad ending and they walk into another game because they had no other choice, I assume u had to be nice in order for u to readjust to your current predicament (whether it be friend, foe or just being a bystander in said world) u don't want the darkness to get rid of the only non sleeping world right? SPOILER for NEO and TWEWY To be Fair to Him After reading the Guide Book's his Situation becomes far more Clear. As a Head Angel the Dude has to follow the rules, even if he Cares (He does) about Shibuya and Shinjuku. Haz on the other hands doesn't care either way and just intervened because of said Bureaucracy in NEO and MAYBE because he got SOME interest in the Mortals after meeting Rindo. Kubo was an Angel Outlier even for an Executioner wich forced Haz's Hand. Joshua did everything in his Power to Oppose and Change as much as he was allowed to do. DDD's Joshua is far Closer to Shibuya's Composer than TWEWY's because he had to act like that in the DG. The Fact many seem to forget: It was Joshuas wish at first to destroy Shibuya and it was KITANJIJI who was against it.
Well TWEWY was made in 2007 so maybe Square, Nomura, or whoevee decided to dial baxl Joshua's prissness, sassy, and snarky personality a bit than how it was before. Since from I've seen of him in the anime, is that he still has that snarky and sarcastic personality, but not exactly to the extent of the orginal. While DDD Joshua, mostly takes place the events of the first game, so Joshua's not as much as jerk, due to his development and Neku refusing to shoot him which he allowed him to agree to not destroy Shibuya. Neku and the others in DDD still believe their in the Reaper's Game, which explains why Shiki is still in her Eri's body. Whether DDD Joshua has any connection to how the TWEWY Joshua acts currently after the first game is up for debate. I have not seen how Joshua acts in NEO yet, I know he appears near the end but that's it. I hope there's at least an explanation on why he hasn't intervened yet in saving Shibuya. Can he not personally defy the executor, due to them being the same ranking? Maybe? What's he been doing this whole time?Maybe help bring Neku and the others back to Shibuya to help Rindo and his team? I better get an explanation by the end by of the game!
Aint no way real ass Joshua gonna make it into the kid's game that is KH. They got a nicer, less offensive version of him. Twitter would cancel OG Joshua while they're being erased by him. If you played NEO, you can see that Joshua remained as schemey as ever, because he's the real one. He even says himself, he's not concerned about what happens to Shibuya anymore as he's leaving it up to the players to take care of the city. He can rebuild it if push comes to shove, with the flick of a wrist

I think the KH events happened after TWEWY so he's already got character development and it's why he's nicer. I have seen many people say they played KH first and then got to TWEWY and were surprised at the big difference since they expected the nice Joshua to be there.
KH is just weird, why is shiki like the other girl? That should not be, unless it happened before and Joshua just chose violence this game
@@josemarioperozofuenmayor3475 Maybe they just didn't wanna spoil her character arc in the main game. I mean it was a twist that Shiki's appearance belonged to her friend. They did the same for Another Day which was set in a different universe than the main game.

Actual spoiler:
Joshua is only the physical Form of the composer in the RG and UG. He is in reality much older without a defined bodily Form. He exists as an angel / above angel just like Mr H (who is just an angel). The planes of existence are stacked on top of one another with higher frequencies the higher you go, higher frequency beings can see all lower frequency beings and realities. The composer is the highest of them all. Joshua's physical Form exists as him down - tuning his frequency to the RG. this severely limits his abilities though.
What I mean to say: he's only nice Here for plot armor.
Joshua has to find some way to be accepted into KH, make yourself seem like god to kids by speaking big words x3
Or maybe since he knows that these two are outsiders to their world, maybe he can relax with his deliberate suspiciousness and be thankful for their contribution to saving his 'friends' souls, which at this point it feels clear that he does hold some sort of tsundere soft spot for Neku's gang by the ending of TWEWY and interactions in NEO!
It's partly a localization thing to be fair. Japanese Joshua is already not the Joshua we're used to (ie look at the TWEWY anime). He's not quite as harsh, I suppose because a little harsh is already ruder within Japanese culture than American? KH seems to have used that take more. But even then yeah he's being way too nice XD
2:28 is my favorite because he's so clearly egging Neku on intentionally to make him see the point--yes truly understanding people is hard and even impossible, yes it's still worth trying. Perfect example of him being a jerk but there's a goal to help.

I mean, that scene is like post credits Joshua, when he's lamenting not being able to be with his friends, before that you got kinda a Joshua lite, where he is manipulating you but it's not as cruel as it was in TWEWY, because the nature of his manipulation has changed.
The only experiences I have TWEWY is DDD and the TWEWY anime, in that order, my impressions are as follows:
DDD: Joshua is a little weird but he’s a good boy
TWEWY anime: this is a different character and he’s scaring me 😐

To be fair, everything Joshua did was to save Shibuya in the end. Even Killing Neku to allow him to win the Reaper's Game, proving Shibuya's worth. With Shibuya gone, as is assumed in Kingdom Hearts, he'd likely instead focus on saving the remaining pieces.(Neku and the gang.)

I love the kh version of someday
As someone who played TWEWY recently and just started Dream Drop, Joshua kind of gives me the feel of as if he developed a hit from the end of TWEWY. I haven't played much of Neo yet, so I can't say much on how Joshua acts there if he's in that(I'm presuming he is since Minaminoto and Neku are, but I could always be wrong), and how that compares to his DDD counterpart. All I really can say is with KH and TWEWY's multidimensional travel, this Joshua is somehow canon, but I feel like maybe something really bad happened between his depressed tone and how he talks about his friends and having tried to save them.

Pretty sure DDD Joshua is the one that destroyed Shibuya in some different timeline or he lost the game with the conductor. That's why he's sounds depressed. Also in Neo: TWEWY Joshua is still a smug person. XD

To be Fair to Him After reading the Guide Book's his Situation becomes far more Clear.
As a Head Angel the Dude has to follow the rules, even if he Cares (He does) about Shibuya and Shinjuku.
Haz on the other hands doesn't care either way and just intervened because of said Bureaucracy in NEO and MAYBE because he got SOME interest in the Mortals after meeting Rindo.
Kubo was an Angel Outlier even for an Executioner wich forced Haz's Hand.
Joshua did everything in his Power to Oppose and Change as much as he was allowed to do.
DDD's Joshua is far Closer to Shibuya's Composer than TWEWY's because he had to act like that in the DG.
The Fact many seem to forget: It was Joshuas wish at first to destroy Shibuya and it was KITANJIJI who was against it.

Well TWEWY was made in 2007 so maybe Square, Nomura, or whoevee decided to dial baxl Joshua's prissness, sassy, and snarky personality a bit than how it was before.
Since from I've seen of him in the anime, is that he still has that snarky and sarcastic personality, but not exactly to the extent of the orginal.
While DDD Joshua, mostly takes place the events of the first game, so Joshua's not as much as jerk, due to his development and Neku refusing to shoot him which he allowed him to agree to not destroy Shibuya.
Neku and the others in DDD still believe their in the Reaper's Game, which explains why Shiki is still in her Eri's body.
Whether DDD Joshua has any connection to how the TWEWY Joshua acts currently after the first game is up for debate.
I have not seen how Joshua acts in NEO yet, I know he appears near the end but that's it.
I hope there's at least an explanation on why he hasn't intervened yet in saving Shibuya.

Aint no way real ass Joshua gonna make it into the kid's game that is KH. They got a nicer, less offensive version of him. Twitter would cancel OG Joshua while they're being erased by him. If you played NEO, you can see that Joshua remained as schemey as ever, because he's the real one. He even says himself, he's not concerned about what happens to Shibuya anymore as he's leaving it up to the players to take care of the city. He can rebuild it if push comes to shove, with the flick of a wrist
