This is one of my favorite skills to use on my children when playing “monsters and superheroes “ 😅 The detail with the middle finger was new to me and I appreciate it you sharing it! I already can feel how much this seemingly little thing supercharges the whole fa process, I can see why this was kept secret lol. Fantastic video as always!
Haha yes! My child has a lot of fun when I apply these techniques too! The middle finger is indeed a big boost, huge boost, to the strength of Qi control. It's pretty amazing how much the Yang family knew about qigong that they did not openly reveal. Thanks for sharing your fun experiences with this haha! 🙌😃
Hello from Norway! These are very informative and inspirational videos. Could you explain and show a video of sticking energy and how a person sticks to you? I have been practising Okinawan karate for many years, and am currently practising the CMC 37 form.
Hello to Norway! Okinawan Karate is fantastic, a true martial art in the martial sense as well as the art sense! And CMC 37 is a wonderful form, really capturing the essential movements of Yang Chengfu's Tai Chi. And yes I have a few videos about sticking! There are more than one ways to create sticking. The easiest to perform, when you have a determined opponent, is to use fascia to cause them to align with you and stick to you. Take a look at this video: th-cam.com/video/5cU5MrM9Rts/w-d-xo.html A more sophisticated and more versatile, quicker way, is to use Yi, intention. I will be discussing that a bit in the next video, so stay tuned. :) Thank you for commenting and welcome to Phoenix Mountain! 🫸🤛
6:33 This is so beautiful. I burst out laughing when I realised "Oh I know that move!" but your application is so naturalistic - the exact opposite of me contorting and balancing and wavering as I try to ape the movements of whoever's in front of me in class 😂
Haha I know that feeling too! And I worked very hard to copy my teachers until I realized that I was feeling something, a growing awareness of an interesting sensation of energy inside and around me. As I let go of my worries about doing moves picture perfect, and allowed my body to freely follow those sensations, it all started to converge to a flowing, comfortable form and I thought, oh wow this must be what I hadn't noticed before, but is so enjoyable and helpful now! Thanks for sharing your experience and reminding me of that! I appreciate it! 😁🙏
Thank you for the encouragement! 😄 May I ask - in the application you show around that time mark are you *simultaneously* expressing Lu through the back hand and Peng through the front hand or *consecutively* expressing first Lu then switching to Peng? I’ve never quite understood this - is the goal to hold and express 2 opposing energies in the body or is it about switching back and forth between opposing energies as you need them?
That's a really cool question! In that demonstration I am flowing from a state of floating and rollback, to a sinking, and then finally to floating and ward off. In the time when Tai Chi was invented I don't think they knew how to animate pictures, otherwise you would see that the Tai Chi symbol is spinning as white transforms to black and black transforms to white. Does that make sense?
Oh! I'm so sorry I didn't get back to your previous question about teachers in Beijing. I don't have any links there. My teacher is retired and wishes to stay out of the public eye and discourse so I hope you don't mind if I honor his preference for the time being. But you are completely right that throughout these videos I am sharing the wisdom passed down through the Old Six Roads lineage of Yang Family Tai Chi. It's a really beautiful and pleasant form of Tai Chi that I enjoy very much. You have great eyes. Thank you for commenting! 😃
Thank you, I got it.: When pushed, I I do pulling ad by sisnking my centre of gravity I put him out of balance to which an angular push helps destabilize the opponent. Paul,69
Sifu Chester - If someone tried to engage and fight with you, and lets say they were really angry. Is it Song Jin, that when transferred to them, It can cause their internal state (anger) to also collapse ? Creating a feeling of an adrenaline dump to the person?
Yes you can, but not necessarily in one go. Just like a Reiki healer might spend a bit of time before they dissolve your emotional energy issues, it may take a few times before you fully resolve an assailant's anger. You do see this happen though where they just start to wonder, why am I even fighting anyways? And that's a pretty nice thing to see happen. 😃
Hi from France Master , again great tutorial ...Thank your for your work ...One question for you, what is the role of the Yuan Qi in Taiji ? Does it contribute to have a better Peng Jin ? Have a nice day.
Hello to France! Can you tell me a little about what you mean by yuan Qi, is it 元氣? I want to make sure we're talking about the same things because there are variations on how groups conceptualize Qi and different kinds of Qi. 🙏
Yes I can put that on the todo list! I've never had that exact request before haha. Can you tell me a little more about what you're curious about, or looking for?
@@phoenixmountaintaichi I’m currently learning the 52 movement fan form of tai chi, but I can’t find any videos or information about how to use the forms in a real fight. I also am curious if any of the forms/techniques can be used to disarm someone with a knife.
Smart question! I would say 80% partner training, 20% form training, and to live day to day with a mindset of moving flowing with energy and spirit. You develop the skills and coordination through partner training and solo Qigong, further verify it in partner training, and play with it in the forms. Does that help answer your question?
Jut Sao I know that you know that i know that you know U can make a difference in a blink Men are neirher all good nor all bad. It's just that sometimes we don't know who we are.
Song and chen are different. Chen jin is sinking. Song is the method of arriving at chen. One can song to open, song to sink, song to float, sung to close etc. Song, pung, and chen are the essence of tai chi. Song is to release in a particular way as to create du la. Once internally stretched via song, you are conductive to the jin. Its all in the classics.
Shifu I’m a little puzzled. You made the donut 🍩 analogy regarding yin sinking through our center and yang rising on the outside of our bodies. Here you mention you that the sinking is in the yin channels (front, inner part of our arms legs). Why is in one scenario in the center and in the other on the front part of the body? Thank you 🙏🏼
This is a really good question! In terms of donut sinking through center vs front and inner channels, the difference arises because of whether you are working with intent or by experiencing Qi quality. In the Qi Mastery course we describe in very high resolution detail all the places and ways that the Qi flows and is experienced. And you practice step by step drills to feel this experience and control each one. That allows us to then perform a very exact energetic use of Qi and its float or sink effects. The Donut way uses the Intent of a donut glaze sinking down the center and rising up the outside. This is easy to visualize and will help your Yi guide the Qi in approximately how it will function, and can be explained in the time frame of a short TH-cam presentation. This bypasses the need to mastery the control of Qi quality at the trade off of less precision. And as you have experienced in Qi mastery course you have seen how you can go much more detailed and much deeper! Beyond both of these methods, as you master Qi and Yi, you will reach a point beyond both of this in which your intention automatically activates all of the appropriate energetic elements to fully support and manifest your Yi. That is when you get to just relax and totally enjoy the mountaintop. Does that make sense? 😃
Yes we can see all of it, everything. Another egocentre BS artist. Just tell the truth and people will love snd resprct you, but you will lose the mysticism ne!
Thank you for your comment! When you begin to see everything I present, beyond what you first notice, you'll see that above all, I make many many videos to explain a lot of Tai Chi without the mysticism. Aside from all that which is explained this way, there are just some experiences that science have not fully explained yet. When I don't have a scientific explanation, but I have a reproducible event, which is, in of itself, a scientific observation, it would be inaccurate to shoehorn some pseudoscience to explain it, would it not? And when there is not an appropriate scientific explanation, I continue to use the nomenclature as passed down by the teachers of the past. When sufficient science arises to explain it, I love to use it, such as fascia neuromuscular interactions and Song's Tensegrity principles, which you will see in other videos. When there is not yet such evidence, I honor the traditional terms as a model, a metaphor, for what is really happening. It would be more egotistical to rewrite the book and all the terms, with no science or proof behind that, would it not? So I quite agree with you, tell the truth. And I have told a lot of truths, simple truths, hidden truths, helpful truths, and many people have experienced and benefitted from them. Far aside from doing this for love and respect to me, I do it for a love of the art of Tai Chi and respect for the wisdom the teachers of the past have left us. And I do this to reveal the truth that less honest, less well intentioned teachers have withheld. Those who have experienced this know and appreciate this, and I am happy for them to find what is helpful to them now, what they have been looking for. So thank you for pointing all of these things out. And I do think you are right about letting go of mysticism. I think we should explain in whatever way is most clear and helpful, and when possible, I do that without mysticism. And if mysticism is the best way to convey some learning, and is helpful to the student, we can use it, because their successful learning is what really matters, is it not? If this method of presentation is not for you, that is fine. And for anyone else, I will explain in whatever way, that will help you understand most deeply and completely. Thanks everyone for all your support! 😃🙏

That’s exactly right. Releasing your weight or a sense of heaviness downwards. Good thinking! 😃🙌
