Regarding the adapters that come from Sony: you don't really need a huge flathead screwdriver to tighten them in. If you put them in hand-tight, they will tighten the rest of the way when you're torquing the screw that screws into them. Conversely, when you're removing the screws, it doesn't really matter how tight you torqued the adapters; they are most likely going to come out regardless.
Thank you Steve. I will check out your recommendations. This is a wall mount, but using an existing wall mount that has a swivel attachment with the bracket already attached that screws into the back of the TV
you made my day i was gonna almost send tv back...thnaks god i have watched your video,,why companies doing tyhis crazy things, i cant tell you enough thank you
I went through the same thing with the 85” Sony Bravia, the silver screws backed out when I was adjusting the black ones, I felt the back once are not long enough for the weight of the tv but I guess that’s how they are, it’s been 2 years no problems so far
Thanks for this great video. I bought a tv mount, but don’t know how to install it, left in the corner for a year. After watching this, realize I have this missing bolt need to buy 😅
Hello Steve, how would I search the piece that screws in the back of the TV once removing the screws that were installed at delivery. The piece once screwed into the back of the TV the screw will then go into that piece? I tried to search for it, but not sure what it is called. My new Sony Bravia 8 65" did not come with those pieces. Thank you
Cool that is a nice OLED TV! I am not familiar with that piece, but did find a few reference docs that may help. Are you doing a wall mount? If so, this is the official Sony bracket and instructions - it comes with the support bracket which is attached to the back of the BRAVIA 8. Sorry to hear that... They should be included... I am assuming you are talking about the bolts/spacers - if so, mine were stuck in the foam packing material on the top next to the remote, and accessories. Worth double-checking that they are not stuck somewhere in the box. Otherwise; I found the silver VESA spacers on eBay and Walmart.com. Just Google search " Sony vesa spacers " and they should come up. -Good luck! 👍

Awesome! Thanks for the tip! I had not thought to try it. Does it hold fast? I was wondering because of the large gap that the VS mount fills. Thanks again! -Steve
No, my BRAVIA did not come with any additional black screws... Only the VS spacers in a bag. I can't imagine what they could be for. The feet do not need screws, they just snap into place. My BRAVIA manual is posted here. www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-55x80ck/manuals Good luck, let us know if you crack the code!
Had my sony bravia kdl55w700b in my storage unit for 3 years. Finally took it out when moving into my new apartment. I never mounted it previously and realized I lost those spacers. Tried contacting sony they don't make the adapter for my TV any more:( wish there was a way around that.
Bummer! Sorry to hear that... They should be included... Mine were stuck in the foam packing material on the top next to the remote, and accessories. Worth double-checking that they are not stuck somewhere in the packaging. Otherwise; I found the spacers on eBay and Walmart.com. Search " *Sony vesa spacers* " and they should come up. -Good luck!
If you dont have a wide screwdriver or butterknife 😮 you can put the VS screws in hand tight then put in bracket reuse the screws from Sony and just tighten. They both will go in together. I feel it was designed like that. I mean I’m sure they knew that most people don’t have a screw that wide.
Yikes! Sorry to hear that. Not good. They should be included... Mine were stuck in the foam packing material on the top next to the remote, and accessories. Worth double checking that they are not stuck somewhere in the packaging. They are heavy little adaptors so you will notice them if they fall out of the box. -Good luck
Yes, absolutely use the silver sony provided VS mounting screws. Good luck with the setup! Checkout page 10 here: www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/F870/7954dd39acd2aa771683f801e9ccae99/F8701001M.pdf
Hmmm. Have not heard of that happening. You are correct, typically the screws you remove from the back of the TV fit into the VESA mount spacers. What model do you have? Some of the OLED models use different hardware.
Yes, it looks like this Bravia uses the same mounting hardware (should be included with the TV) - manual here: www.manualslib.com/manual/1100654/Sony-Kdl-55w829b.html?page=8#manual
Depende del modelo de televisor, algunos televisores Sony de 75 pulgadas no utilizan los soportes VS especiales. ¿Qué número de modelo tienes? Depending on the TV model, some of the Sony 75 inch TVs do not use the special VS mounts. What model number do you have?
Yes, the black srews were the same ones I removed from the back of the Sony TV (I think using the srews included with the stand would have worked fine- but figured I would use the originals).
Not for sure - but check the box for the mounting hardware, I am guessing it has the same type mounting hardware. If you are asking about the Universal Swivel TV Stand - it maxes out at 60 inch TVs and up to 88 lbs.
Sorry for the confusion! The VESA mounts are the same technique either way. I recently remounted our BRAVIA to the wall, using the same technique. Of course the big difference is mounting the wall bracket.
I genuinely don't know they made this design choice. All it does is make shit harder to find and then probably have to buy a replacement because you lost it after years of not using it
I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to post this video!!

Glad it worked out, it is a strange design... but seems to work!
Sure wish the mounting companies would provide better guidance on where to position the brackets on the back of the TV.
For sure. It is a trial and error process to get the TV to the right height / position.
Update.... this mount worked perfectly and we are enjoying the Sony BRAVIA TV. 😃
This confirmed that I was doing the right thing. My wall mount came with spacers but I'd much rather use the fittings that came with the TV.
Excellent! I agree to use the included Sony BRAVIA spacers.

my spacers don't inset flush and they are as tight as they will go. did your spacers tighten flush?
Actually, mine did not tighten down to be flush with the side of the TV. They do stick out slightly... Will see if I can post a picture.

I lost my adapters. You can buy longer screws and it works great. Just take one to HD and pick your length depending on the bracket.

So my Bravia TV came with the black screws in the tv AND more black screws in a bag. These additional screws are shorter. What are they for?

Hey mate, would you use the silver screw extenders for an 85 inch tv? I guess you would ? Thanks
Yes, assuming it is a Sony. The VS mounting hardware should be included in the box and is used to mount the TV to a swivel stand or with a wall mount.
I’m struggling to find where I can buy the silver recess bracket thing to put into the holes …it wasn’t supplied with the tv when I bought it

Except the screw that we’re originally screwed in do not fit the adapters that come with the tv
Ouch. That is not right! I can only speculate that it is Sony's mistake on the size of the screws or the VS mounts.
