This obviously took a ton of work and showed a wide variance of colors, some of which I wouldn't really consider as pastel. In some cases I picked a color next to the one you chose as a match. I think I must not have a true concept of the definition of pastel, and that I am slightly color-blind. Oh well, nobody can have everything! Seriously, I am grateful for your hard work and for helping us feel as though we do have many pastels in our Prismas. Only the Farber Castell ergonomics 24 pack, Maped Color pep's 12 pack(lost purple and blush(a peach like color) and some stray colors from brands no-one cares about without names. My white pencil is dead and atempting to press light doesn't work because the leads are soft a🤬 and break as soon as they touch the paper. I need a pastel set because I don't want dark colors I will never use like navy, olive, vertigris, indigo, umber, jungle, midnight, avocado, vermilion, chocolate, maroon, burgundy, mahogany, teal, mullberry or eggplant.
All these new set coming out still can't pit down those trusty ol' Prismas! The only pastel set I'd really want to try would be the Holbeins personally, just to see how those work, but I could buy sooo many prismacolor pencils with that amount of money...

I got the pastel sets because they look so pretty and I wanted to pet those pretty pencils. And how can you pet the pencils if you don't have them? So I bought them. The brutfuners are really good when used along with a regular set of pencils. A good example is the set of polychromos 36 which doesn't seem to have many light colors in that set.
I got to myself Brutfuner pastel set. I used 1 colour because I didnt have that colour in my crayola pencils and I needed it for the colour combination I was colouring in. It seems pastel pencils are more chalky. They go towards white and coverage is more intense. Even if you match up the shades you can not use pastel pencils instead of normal ones. It works other way around though. You can use normal pencils and pick muted colours or lighter shades to create pastel set.
I have an old set of Prismacolor Premier pencils when they came in a set of 120 (and still made in the USA). I'm working on getting the newer 30 colors that the 120 set doesn't have. I also have the 50 Macaron pastel set and would love to see a more in-depth comparison. Maybe we can compare our findings. 😁
I have been saving up for the 48 set of Derwent chromoflow colored pencils and i will be ordering them on thursday from amazon for 47.00 + tax. I am excited.
I don't have muave, sage, begie, cream, tan, periwinkle, aqua, lilac, jade, seaglass, eggshell, anything like a pastel Naples yellow or any pastel magenta-like colors and I can't make them because my only white pencil(Farber Castell ergonomics 24 pack by the way) decided it's lead was done being used. I remember that day vivdly when I couldn't sharpen it anymore. RIP ⬜️!
I'm still watching, but one of my main gripes with Prisma is I wish they had a much lighter Turquoise, and something lighter than their Light Green as Turquoise-y, Aqua, Minty colors, are my favorites 🤩
Like that beautiful pale Horizon Blue, maybe Ice Green as well, would go great with Prismacolor's Light Aqua, and also in the regular square Brutfuner's 057 and Markart's 057 is lighter than Prismacolor's Light Green. I wish so badly those 2 were in the full Prismacolor set 😔 I've been on the hunt for open stock colored pencils that would be lighter than Light Aqua and Light Green, but it's hard to tell 100% by just seeing pictures online 😖
Of course I don't _need_ a pastel-only colored pencil set but I want one and it's nice to have.

Have you tried Indra 72 pastel pencils? I wonder how they compare to the new brutfuner 72 macaron.

Hi Pamela, I have a question. When you print your coloring pages and swatch charts do you print on the smoother side or the toothyer side?
The paper I use has tooth on both sides of the paper. I’m not sure which paper you’re using, but I would print so that it’s on the toothier side.
