I really enjoyed the contrarian chaos that Peggy brought, the affection you have for each other as you banter is lovely to watch! I think we need a Peggy's financial hot takes series 🤣
I recently got the Somnia tarot with the guidebook and opened it with my partner. He was immediately obsessed and keeps asking when I'm going to bring it out. He doesn't understand how I work with decks, but I think it's adorable he's showing an interest in arguably the darkest deck I own. The illustrated version, while very cool, feels a bit watered-down . . . Though perhaps that's the point.
Yah I think the illustrated version is much softer - less confronting than the photos - but the photos and drama are so effective in the original edition!
Definitely my favourite way to discover upcoming decks is through the hot takes series. 🙌

Hot take: luminox tarot actually really appeals to me! It has a similar quality to orthodox icons and the Kuan Yin oracle, the figures feel like monumentalist statues, I think one can work with it as a deck of deity archetypes or something of that nature. Also, I feel like this the type of deck to put on your altar and do pathwork with. The abstractness of the figures should let you decide who or what is actually standing there.
The geeky girl oracle can be shipped internationally through etsy. The creator mentions it in the updates.

I don't usually buy new decks just for the extra cards in a later addition as this seems wasteful. I do think expansion packs for the Memento Mori deck for me do make sense and I do not collect decks and have stopped buying any new decks. For me, the expansion pack does help me to have a customizable deck specifically for spirit communication; the variety helps.
OMG! I have the original Lights in Dark Places Oracle. It is amazing, but I always wished there were more cards in the deck. And this reprint has them. Thanks for making do this Lisa (in the most positive grateful way) !!!!😊

I see a lot of ppl in the chat saying they don't want/like the memento mori expansions because the base deck isn't available. claire cycles the deck and all the expansions - it ends up being about one printing of each per year, so they are available.

there aren't a lot of mass market decks coming out in this last part of 2022, but there are A TON upcoming next year so I do think it has something to do with production. Indie decks are super inaccessible for most tarot users, mass market reaches demographics indie decks don't even ship to😂 so I don't think that's related.

You should make an expansion pack for Mystic's Unicorns journey that focuses a siut on shadow work. Mystic can makes friends with a shadow unicorn and travel through the subconscious 😊

48:02, when you are discussing Deck Series....do you have any tea on the Seasons of the Witch series? that was suppossed to be 8 decks for 8 sabbats. i have 3, and then the trail gets a bit faint. Rockpool, mass market. thanks for the info, and that was a great fight !!

I backed the Faux Tarot (it's not tarot, it's a playing card sized oracle deck with 30 something cards) and like it. I won't be backing the Geeky Girl oracle deck because of two things, the large size, and- the big reason- the artist has herself in just about every card. 0 diversity, just her. It comes off as ego-stroking and limiting. She can draw, why not draw a variety? I'm not into it. It isn't as if Geeky Girl is a pop culture character from a fandom that can be widely identified with. Geeky Girl is the artist and it was painfully obvious to me when I looked at the kickstarter.
Editing to add thoughts on the Victorious Tarot:
I hacked this and then withdrew my pledge when I realized the art wasn't done, there were no men depicted in the cards, and the creator didn't answer my question about whether or not men would be in any cards. There was also a mention of AR being a stretch goal, but it's used in the campaign as a selling point as if it's gonna be part of the base deck. It comes off as sneaky and I don't like it. The existing art is gorgeous though, so it sucks they're not better about these things.
It's funny, I actually thought the Somnia (original) would be great for me, as I like confronting imagery and it looked gorgeous, and I finally bit the bullet despite the cost... and looked it and immediately went NOPE. I think maybe it's the number of times the bag on the head thing is included, it kind of brought it from "ooh, visual impact" to "hmmm okay this is actually starting to feel uncomfortable in a way that has nothing to do with card meanings?" I can't put a finger on it but maybe it's just that there's not enough variety to feel out the meanings. Pretty bummed I lost that much money, but hoping it goes out of print and I can sell it for the same amount 😂
