I've seen a camper use a hula hoop with a shower curtain hung around down from it. Then just threaded through rope, tied up on a pole swing out at 90° stright out horizontal from your van. So you can stand in it with your hot shower Good bit of privacy.

The indoor kitchen/hot water heater in the van is a game changer that suddenly makes the tear drop trailer a very doable option. If I didn't have my family and was single I would seriously consider this type of set up

Hi...altho the rig is cool, I believe your family right now is extremely cool, for your raising future son/daughter(s) to be good citizens of the world & as they age, you have a project to work on for when the day comes when the kids are adults & you can travel in a teardrop. blessings

If you can find a square water tank to fit your space capacity will increase about 1/4 over a round. Rectangular is another option, if custom made consider internal baffles.

You interviewed a modest gentleman who really has a cool looking little rig. He can live comfortably with his trailer and get great gas mileage with his 4 cylinder van! Simple and functional. I couldn’t sleep in there in the winter months unless I could find a warmer climate. Or have a good heating system. But he knows Florida and I don’t have a clue about that state except I have only seen pictures of there. Thank you for sharing this cool setup Rusty 👍

You'd be surprised. I've winter tented many times down below zero and with the right insulated air mattress and sleeping bags, I swear to god I know it's hard to believe but I get up to 90F under the covers and sweat my balls off just from body heat. It's all about the correct gear.

We have a homebuilt teardrop that is a “convertible.” We built it in 2013 and have had that little joker everywhere from Virginia to Missourri and the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes. I really haven’t had a chance to get it out and video much with it since we really started up wih our channel, but we plan to do soething about that this summer. Max has one cool little set up, but usually there are at least four of us, so we have a pop up gazebo with the walls that serve as the bedroom for our son and his friends. It would never work for full timing with the whole family, but it is a lot of fun for a week at the beach!

We stayed in a campground near JAX in Florida for $280/month plus electric. No extras, basically a parking lot with hookups. But cheap. And we have a regular place outside of Orlando for $450/month plus electric, which is crowded but has some extras - a nice pool, clubhouse , activities, etc. We spend at least a month there every winter because I have family in Orlando and we enjoy the parks.(I have a Florida Bank account that I change the mailing address to the campground when we are there, let's us get a Florida residents seasonal weekday only pass for cheap).
8 months of the year we are working as consultants all over upstate NY, with occasionally some interesting living arrangements - the Morristown Village dock, the St Lawrence county fairground, the Saranac Lake school bus garage one winter, the highway dept parking lot in a number of places with an extension cord run to the coach. We also have some reasonably (for the Adirondacks) inexpensive campgrounds that we use when we can. Right now we are in a beautiful place right on the St Regis River, we will be here for through August, so we paid for a seasonal site - $1100 for the season, but we will use it for 3 months.

1: we are paying around $388 per month including our electric, so it really isn't that expensive, considering we will be grossing over $129k this year. Since we will be there for 3 months it made sense to pay the $1100 for the season rather than paying $450 monthly. It saves us $250, and if we happen to need to come back in October to do. Follow up, we are covered.
2: we work hard - 9 or 10 hours per day - so if we don't have to deal with the time consuming aspects of dry camping, it is better.
3: every cent we spend on the RV - rent, power, repairs, everything, plus depreciation is deductible as a business expense, so it is actually even less expensive.
4: We have numerous free options that include, as I said before, and depending on the town, everything from a full hookup right outside the highway garage where we will be working, to a full hookup spot in the county fairgrounds, to an electric-only site in the village hall parking lot with a key to use the rest rooms after hours. We often use the electric-only options in late fall and early spring when the temperatures hover around 20 degrees Fahrenheit most nights. If we take a winter contract we have to get creative. I mentioned one time the village let us park in the school bus garage - electric only, but access to a toilet and shower on the second floor. We also have a little studio apartment near Lake Placid the we rent if we need to work in that part of the world in the deep winter, which in the high peaks often hits 30 below.
We are not dilettantes. Our coach is our home for work. When we are not working we often do dry camp, since those rents are not tax deductible. Or we stay in state parks. The Orlando campground is also tax deductible because I work at the BARF in February and March. And since I am there for 2 months usually, it makes sense.

Very impressive setup. That’s what I’d like to scale down to from my travel trailer.
