BIG Stingray at Haystacks - 5.26.24

Not 5 minutes into the dive we found this big bugger hiding out in the sand. When I came back 50 minutes later at the end of the dive, it was still there! Best creature of the dive!
I've been hit in the head...a lot, and this is a part of my effort to preserve my memories for decades to come.

Sorry being stupid how long do they stay like that? Do they flick sand on themselves?

I don't know how long (not stupid at all!) but yes, they do sort of kick up a bunch of sand so it covers them up except for their spiracles and eyes. This one was huge and the funny thing, earlier in the day, I was on my bike and wishing I could see a ray (I had forgotten that I saw one at the beginning of the month). So I thought I kind of 'willed' this one into existence.
