Fact about the maneater: when it’s transformed it will mimic the baby crying to lure you to it, but there’s a difference between the baby crying and the monster crying; when the baby cries it’s just the crying sound. but when the monster cries you can hear a low growling/buzzing sound along with the crying. And as Segi found out, taking it outside immediately makes it cry and then transform.
If it cries you have 8-16 seconds to shake it before it'll transform and it's adult (sh*t the bed) form which works like an eyeless dog hunts you down. If you hit the baby, it takes damage by a hostile creature, gets dropped down the elevator, goes outside, hears a loud noise, has a light shined at it, gets put under water or tips backwards whilst being carried it'll start crying and you have to stop it or else it'll transform 😂
Oh and it picks it's favourite person to follow so you literally cannot escape baby man-eater anyway.
Edit: and as you said if it's outside nobody is safe because it'll transform regardless of what you do 😂

The elevator is pretty terrifying. We had the disguised mod mimic where they don't wear masks and one used it to come up. Honestly thought it was someone else.

@@viper0vendalmy794 That would be amazing, imagine you're in this intense moment watching a coilhead while holding the baby and than you just hear it say the words "I want waffle fries", like, that'd be so damn funny.
The maneater can only be killed once in adult form. However, insta-kills like spike traps or the car do not work. But if you put it in the back of the car and close the back, it will be unable to get out. That is most likely a glitch. And considering it can climb out of most holes, it being stuck in specific holes is also likely a glitch. It eats items so babysitting it is the intended form of gameplay surrounding it
It could also be killed in its baby form as well

I've definitely seen the adult form dead under a spike trap. I could've sworn it was killed by the spikes, but maybe it was a coincidence.

Spike trap works in baby form and kills it instantly
When Maneaters are first spawned, they are initially in their Quiet Phase. They can go from the Quiet Phase into Crying Phase and back, and from the Crying Phase into the Adult Phase, but this change is irreversible once done.
Maneaters are smaller in the Quiet and Crying Phases, functioning similarly to scrap. They can be picked up and held by both players and Hoarding Bugs. They take up one slot and are two-handed. When held, they can be "rocked" to (possibly) calm them down, just like a parent would do to their baby.
Maneaters go from the Quiet Phase to the Crying Phase if:
They hear a loud sound.
Are attacked by melee Weapons (Shovel, Stop Sign, Yield Sign, or Kitchen Knife).
Are attacked by entities while being held.
Witness the death of an employee (or seeing a Player Body).
Are rocked too much in their Quiet Phase.
Are illuminated by a Flashlight or Pro Flashlight.
Falling from a certain height (such as being dropped from the second floor in the main entrance room of Mansion).
Being taken outside.
Falling back whilst in their sitting animation.
Maneaters go from the Crying Phase to the Quiet Phase if they have been rocked at least once during the Crying Phase while indoors. If outdoors, they cannot change into the Quiet Phase, even if rocked, unless they are brought back inside. If they are crying from being rocked too much, they will stop upon being dropped.
Maneaters go from the Crying Phase to the Adult Phase if:
They are attacked by melee Weapons during the Crying Phase.
Are not rocked in their Crying Phase for 8-16 seconds whilst indoors.
After entering their Crying Phase upon being taken outside after 8-16 seconds.
Note that the 8-16 seconds functions as a persisting timer that drains as he cries. Rocking him does not reset this.
Quiet Phase
When a Maneater is in its Quiet Phase, it's completely harmless and will randomly wander around the map. Once it discovers an employee, it will approach them and follow them, keep a certain distance away from them, as approaching it will cause it to back away, and backing away causes it to approach. It will continuously track the first discovered employee as its target, but it will not attack. You cannot leave its tracking radius due to its size.
Crying Phase
The Crying Phase of a Maneater is also completely harmless, but it will cry like a baby, making whining sounds. The lore of the Maneater mentioned:
"The most telling sign that a larva is approaching metamorphosis is an excretion of an acidic, foamy liquid at its lower jaw; this substance is believed to be a catalyst and exits its body in large quantities once metamorphosis begins."
The behavior pattern of a Maneater in this phase is vastly different from that of the Quiet phase, as it becomes more restless and agitated, hovering near the player instead of standing still. It tends to maintain a larger minimum distance from the player. If employees do not rock in a timely manner to calm it down, it will enter its Adult Phase.

Adult Phase
Maneaters entering adult phase will seemingly "grow up", enlarging in size and becoming hostile to players. This conversion takes about three seconds for it to go from the Crying Phase to the Adult Phase. Maneaters in the Adult Phase exhibit significant differences in properties between indoor and outdoor environments.
When a Maneater is outdoors, it will actively attack every employee within its sight range.
Maneater awoken
Ditto, but from a different angle.
When a Maneater is indoors, it will actively attack any employee that aren't in view of the Maneater. This field of view has a certain angle and does not appear on the screen. If a Maneater detects an employee in its field of view, it will maintain a distance like in the Quiet Phase and Crying Phase and will not actively attack.
Attack
The Maneater's attack method is simple: It lunges at the player, killing them instantly upon making contact.
Each round of attack lasts from 2.5 to 3 seconds and is divided as such:
Sprinting, being 0.5 seconds to 1 second.
Pause, being 1.5 second to 2 seconds.
The sprint subphase will ignore any terrain (such as steep cliffs) and rush towards the target at an extremely fast speed. During their pause subphase, they will stay in their original position, lift their legs, and wait for the next round of attack.
Item Eating
A Maneater not in the Adult Phase is capable of eating items from the ground. It will "observe" 1 item, and every 3 seconds, it has a 20% chance to attempt to eat it. If the Maneater has eaten in the past 25 seconds, it will not attempt to eat again.
Each time a Maneater eats an item, its model will become slightly chubbier, up to a maximum of 3 times. This indicates nothing, and a Maneater can still continue to eat items.

A Maneater not in the Adult Phase cannot be killed by anything not classified as an instant kill.
This currently includes any Spike Trap, and the Company Cruiser (if going fast enough).
Upon dying, it simply stops updating its AI, and appears bugged.
Uniquely, when in the Adult Phase, a Maneater takes 1 damage from all sources that are not classified as an instant kill.
This includes melee Weapons, a Double-barrel, Landmines, and the Company Cruiser (at lower speeds).
When in the Adult Phase, a Maneater's Door open speed is almost zero.
Strategy
While the Maneater appears harmless initially (and remains so if taken care of), its adult phase can function as a genuine threat to employees, closing large distances quickly and, as a result, potentially ending days early. It will continuously track you and they will become agitated after experiencing loud sounds or bright lights. For example, the pick up and drop down sound of the Large axle causes the Maneater to enter it's Crying Phase. So Maneater is a worry that will have to be faced without full attention.
Continuously rocking a Maneater is one of the best methods of ensuring it doesn't become a large issue, but this requires continuous maintenance and time, and thus, it may not be always feasible. Unless absolutely necessary, a Maneater should not be removed from the facility, as doing so will cause it to enter its Crying Phase and can not be calmed down, even with rocks, making its Adult Phase transformation inevitable if kept outdoors crying. An adult Maneater outside will make moving scrap to the ship significantly more difficult, as it is incredibly oppressive once line of sight with a player is made.
There are only two other major ways of dealing with a Maneater: trapping it or attempting to eliminate it. The former is significantly more advisable than the latter, as combat should be avoided, unless the engager is proficient and competent with a shovel or a double barrel.
Trap Tactic
In the Factory, you can drop a Maneater into the large Factory Room pit. Please note that throwing it into other pits in the Factory will cause it to be teleported back to the corridor.
The position which Maneater stick to Apparatus Room
A Maneater stuck in the ceiling of the Apparatus Room.
If you find the Apparatus room, you can stick the Maneater into the ceiling of Apparatus device.
In the Mineshaft, you can drop a Maneater into the elevator well to trap it.
Throwing a Maneater into deep Water, such as in the pond of 61-March, will eliminate the Maneater - however, this is only applicable at the main entrance, as only there is the bank of the pond sufficiently steep enough.
Eliminate Tactic
Maneaters have 5 Shovel HP, making them difficult to kill - but for players who have sufficient operational skills, especially those who have learned to kill Eyeless Dogs, then killing a Maneater is similar, as it mimics the attacks of the Eyeless Dogs.
Each round of a Maneater's attack has a gap of 1.5 to 2 seconds, which gives you ample time to distance yourself from it and attack it. Also, its ability to visually see employees, unlike the Eyeless Dogs, makes its pursuit more precise and dangerous.
As long as your distance divided by your speed difference is less than its attack time (being 0.5 seconds to 1 second), you will undoubtedly die. Instead, the most ideal approach is not to constantly change one's direction, because the AI will try to find the shortest path that reaches you. After it finishes sprinting and is in position close to you, swing your melee weapon just in time to attack and damage it, and then immediately distance yourself. Repeat this five times, and the Maneater will be killed. Using Stun Grenades and TZP Inhalant can increase your room for error and give you more time to distance yourself from it - but in any case, this is a very risky, as the biggest difficulty lies in the limitations of terrain and interference from any other entities present in the facility.

The new mob aka the Maneater is a baby monster the shape of a hoarding bug when a baby but the shape of a thumper when an adult. When the Maneater starts crying you must cradle it to stop it from growing up and killing you. Once in the adult phase it will not revert back and will hunt you until you die. It is a one tap kill on players and it is hard to kill but is possible. It can spawn on any map in any interior but it is more prominent on Titan and artifice. Also there are new scrap.

The baby is actually most common on vow, and 50% more common in the mines
It will start crying from a lot of things including
1: seeing dead body’s or someone attacking another monster
2: loud noises, like dropping shovels
3: randomly if you don’t pick it up
And if you don’t pick it up, it will eat scrap it finds at random, and you can’t get it back
You can kill it in the baby form only with a spike trap. Any other damage make it instantly grow up
@@somerandomdude7815To add onto that, five shovel swings to kill it's adult form. However, its turning control is better than any other monster so trying to juke it to get a swing in does not work. I think stunning is the only viable option to keep it in a position where you can wack it without dying right afterwards.

First encounter w/maneater: I went solo main entrance, friends went fire. There was only one door that led to fire from inside and it was locked (no keys) we stod and talket for a while, then suddenly this small little shit came up behind me. I freaked out because I have never seen that thing and neither did I read the patch notes and it was called "Maneater". Friends see him trough the locked door, I walked away as my friends where leaving to come main entrance. Noticing how it followed me. I started running for the exit jumping over a landmine heard an explosion behind me and then crying and growling... I stop to turn around for 1 second and small baby ain't small anymore... I send it to the exit. Right as I leave, my friends are about to enter main. I just said no lets just leave I'll explain later and we all died to baboon hawks on the way to the ship :) Love this game
When I go ‘Chugga Chugga’ I do it for times before ‘Choo choo’
Also, for Doug's question- as a stand-alone phrase, its two chuggas and one choo-choo. However, if you're actually using it in a sentence, the real number of chuggas is purely based on vibes and what is required in the conversation. Could be two, could be twenty.
