Wow, I’m not a pies fan but there were two absolute umpiring howlers in this game that could have costed Collingwood the game, Cameron taking a ‘mark’ a good meter outside the boundary and then also receiving a handball outside the field of play to kick a goal, real WTF moments😮

@@Christian-yd3ng yeah half of Geelong's free kicks were when they already had the ball. Example: Ollie Henry getting 2 free kicks in front of goal when he already marked it. And Collingwood should also stop belting blokes after they dispose of the ball.
@@Ethan-mo6xe literally got gifted two goals, had 7 more free kicks and still not happy with the umpiring because we got “stupid free kicks all night”. 10 free kicks is well below average
@@Christian-yd3ng He already marked the ball and they paid a free kick, hence inflating the free kick count. Most of Geelong's free kicks didn't help whatsoever when they already had possession, could've had 8 free kicks and the score would've been the same

The crowd noise was unbelievable, is it any wonder that 1 million+ fans have gone to watch Collingwood play this season. Ginni looked right at home at the G. Olli gets better week after week. Lipa looked comfortable in the mid field, Howe was excellent up on the forward line, Murph filled Darcy's role with excellence. Checkers kicked a bag of snags. Great team connections. What a spectacle both teams put out. Most clangers on the night go to the umpires. lol. Go the mighty Pies.

Collingwood played better... simple as that , and im a cats fan. Geelong supporters had a stellar year in 2022 , finishing with a premiership. You cant win it every year... this is Collingwoods year... they deserve it.
Good High Scoring Game of footy is what we like to see.

David Rodan the umpire payed that a goal when it was actually a point at the end just to get both teams over 100
People were writing off Collingwood after a few losses, i wouldn't be so sure..
We could win three to five games in a row all by 100 points and we’d still get written off.

Firstly, the umpiring.
On both sides there were costly goals due to incorrect calls, or incorrect no calls. Any true footballing spectator would see that. Regardless of which, it’s never the players fault if a call is or isn’t made, that’s on the integrity of the umpires. As an athlete, if you believe you can get away with it, trust me, you’ll keep doing it.
Now,
Collingwood are in blazing hot form, and this was always going to be a tough game. Yes, they were missing out on Nick Daicos, and then an injury to Darcy Moore. Let’s even throw Nathan Murphy in there.
But Geelong are clearly not in form with an inconsistent side due to a severe amount of injuries with players that would walk into any AFL club in Blicavs, Hawkins, Henry, and Cameron Guthrie (and that’s not even our full injury list).
The fact that this depleted Cats team showed promise and fight against the clearly ranked number 1 team in the league, to only lose by 8 points in the end, we take that as a positive and move onto next week.
Sometimes it’s not about who’s the best, but who’s the healthiest and Collingwood is one of those teams that have had a very healthy list, so good on them.
Collingwood is in terrible form! Barely scraped past Port, lost to Carlton, then thumped by 16th on the ladder. Now they only beat 9th on the ladder by 8 (although more like 20 considering Cameron’s illegally paid goals). This is the worst form they’ve been in for 2 years and you couldn’t capitalise.
Look at all those words you used just to say Geelong are the most protected club in the league and they still couldn't beat Collingwood.
@@rmj4882 fair comments. Though, Port are 2nd on the ladder. Carlton have won 7 in a row (clearly in form). Yes, Hawthorn are 16th on the ladder, but if you’ve watched their footy and not the highlights they have started to find some form themselves.

Collingwoods kicking in and around the foward 50 was much smarter, Kicking to players in space and trying different things was the difference between the 2 teams..

Jeremy Cameron's seven goals wasn't enough for the Cats. It is very unusual for a player to kick seven or more goals in a losing team. The Magpies are the team to beat now.

Geelong has the hardest draw in the competition by far. So if they make finals it will be a miracle.

The Cats drop off this season is pretty staggering when you consider the quality of players they were able to trade in, again.
I agree with Jezza's 2 goals being out of bounds, but why is everyone ignoring the blatant decisions against Geelong such as at 0:27 Guthrie pushed in the back and holding the ball missed, or the centre bounce at the start of the second quarter, or Jezza's mark not paid in the second half. Don't @ me with the free kick count when half of Geelong's free kicks were when they already had the ball, such as Ollie Henry getting 2 free kicks in front of goal when he already marked the ball.
Guthrie gave up on that ball. If he wasn't being lazy he could have spoiled that goal from Adams.

That was such a sketchy reaction by David Roden, he was originally going to call behind, then paused......looked confused for a second, then ran over and put his hands up, paused again......then signed goal........Was he going to call behind but had someone in his ear say "call it a goal"? He should have done a goal review. Even thought the result wouldn't have changed, the % can mean the difference between a home or away final or missing out on finals vs playing in them. It seems like this comp is rigged, 2 out of bounds (1 on the full) should have been called......but both were ignored by umpires standing not even 15m away and in full view. Both resulted in a goal.

Explain to me why they don't just review every play that directly leads to the goal like they do in NRL. It's not good enough. Most atrociously officiated game in the entire world.

channel 7 need to hire a more enthusiastic commentator, james brayshaw sounds like he'd rather be anywhere else. it takes away from the game. he also only speaks in 3 word sentences
Geelong still put on a major performance against the best side in the comp, especially given the lack of Hawkins, Rohan, Blicavs, Guthrie and J.Henry. Umps were horrendous as always but the win was very possible without them. Hopefully bounce back next week!

Yes why is nobody talking about this? It looked like a behind for sure!! They probably just wanted both teams to reach 100 points to take away a pretty rigged game as a good one.

season is already over if geelong lose next week, if st kilda beat richmond then thats gonna give them huge motivation to win next week, ending our season. Cya's all next year, time for the league to watch geelong do their best to tank for a top 5 draft pick.

AFL needs to bring in video technology like the soccer for decisions leading up to goals in the forward 50. This is a disgrace and could have costed Collingwood
Definitely need a line technology to determine whether the ball is in play or not. Soccer have it and it’s 100% accurate

The Maggie's bounced back perfectly after losing 2 games in row, Geelong were tight early on but Collingwood came back with full throttle. Dr fort and Moore are a problem but Collingwood will be a huge threat in finals

Empires give cats 2 goals that should have been out of bounce so collingwood would have won by more but umpires do wat they want y umpires don't get in trouble if stuff up like that afl is dropping off now getting weak
