I’ve never understood how having an ID restricts people from voting. If you’re adult, you need government ID. It’s not race, it’s common sense.

The government already knows who’s a citizen or not. They check that before you vote, why add an additional layer to vote when government has that information. Use your brain

It deters people from voting, as some people fear having to show their id. As born out in multiple studies, of those which are deterred it’s predominantly black and Mexican heritage I forgot the split but its on google.

A lot of it is how difficult it can be to get the identification. For example, if you require a driver's license then close all but one DMV in a county, poor people, who are disproportionately people of color, won't be able to get the identification.

    • @f-86zoomer37

Well it is about race when
      1. Republicans gerrymander districts that dilute the black vote.
      2. Republicans all polling stations in rural black counties except for one.
      3. Republicans introduce laws that ban all convicted felons from voting, even those who have served their full term and had good behavior.
      4. Yes, voter ID IS racial voter suppression because people of color are less likely to have access to places where they can obtain ID. Again it gets back to the republicans not opening any dmv offices in certain counties, forcing black people to drive hundreds of miles just to get an ID.
If you want voter ID, then you need to make it just as easy for Black and rural peoples to get one as white people. Otherwise it’s blatant racial suppression. Or how about this, you register to vote with your social security number, and nothing else.

    • @f-86zoomer37

@@lastbatrepublicans also close polling stations in any place black people live. If it’s in the city, they’ll close them except for one so that they have to wait long lines. If it’s rural, they’ll only open one far from where most people live, taking over 1-2 hrs just to drive and vote.

Some time ago there was something put into place which said workers should be given time off to go to the poles. But, the powers-that-be in many states have done and are doing everything in its power to keep this from happening, another form of voter suppression. This is one of the reasons why many voting precincts remain open until 7 p.m. or so and counting votes goes into the night. The kinds of voter suppression we are seeing now just does not affect Blacks and other people of color, but it is affecting everyone. What happens to one will inevitably affect all.
Votes are gold and people feel empowered with that gold when they can be a part of the democratic process.
Everything is designed to discourage this fundamental right so a certain sector, white males, maintains power and control. Voter suppression has ramped up thanks to Justice John Roberts tampering with the Voting Rights Act with the removal of Article 5. His lame excuse for doing it was the nation had evolved and racism/prejudice no longer existed. Roberts is said to now regret such a move, because he sees the serious damage it has done.

Wait, you don't have to present ID in order to vote in the US? I live in a mid income country and that would be considered insane here. But beyond that, even if somehow someone would find ID unfair, why would it affect people differently by their skin color?

    • @theshawshankinception1220

There is video evidence of some Republicans saying that voter ID laws help them win. A lot of poor people may not have the resources or the free time to go out and get a drivers license from their DMV. This disproportionately affects minorities, who tend to lean democrat. So less Democratic Party votes through no fault other than them not having a government issued ID, means an advantage for the Republican Party, who put these laws into place to give themselves an advantage.

Hey there, fellow innovator! I know the current economic situation can be challenging, but I want to remind you that this is just a temporary setback. History has shown us time and time again that every downturn is followed by an upswing, and this one will be no exception. The key is to stay focused, keep pushing forward, and remain optimistic about the future. As the great economist John Maynard Keynes once said, 'The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.' So keep on thinking outside the box and driving progress, because your vision and leadership are exactly what the world needs right now. And remember, as the famous entrepreneur and investor, Peter Drucker, once said, 'Whenever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision.' Keep making those courageous decisions, and the economic landscape will soon change for the better."

To ask for an ID to prove you have citizenship to vote is not racially based. The inability for blacks to vote was DEMs who had tests, poll taxes and KKK threats. Those have long been gone and free state voting IDs for all, is not long a hinderance in voting as you cant do anything without an ID in todays society. IDs preserve the integrity in the voting system.

I have voted since 1980 and have always been asked to show my ID. Even in Hawaii-where there isn't really a majority or minority race-up until a few elections ago where all voting is now done through the mail. And i have seen people who did not have a driver license, use their social security card (which was accepted as an ID and they voted).
And never forget that your vote is not worth anything unless you stay on top of what you elected representative does in office. What they vote for, what they propose, and then you need to ask them why they proposed or voted for something you were against (they may have information you did not have) as well as thank them for votes where you agreed.
Final thought, we need to spend more time monitoring the effects of laws that are passed as opposed to getting all upset (or excited) when a law passes, never bothering to see what came from the legislation. Often things that sound good end up doing harm when enacted-or end up costing billions more than we were told.

For examples, 10 days in Hawai'i, 15 days in Arkansas. For the 4 that don't, just *register and request "Absentee Ballots" and postmark it* before state's deadlines. The ones you see in line on Election Day are likely those who were undecided up until then about issues and candidates, enjoyed getting Election Day stamp and experience, or just plain ill-prepared. Cue a storm of MAGA racism and imagined grievance.

MAGA racism? No people like you are the racist that imagine racism. Try moving away from the TV internet and go and meet the "MAGA" people yourself.

      Why this is propaganda.
      1. They name issues that effect everyone like having to work or voting day and make out its a strictly black issue.
      2. Bringing up historical points that were real but have been fixed MANY years ago to justify their position now.
      3. Democrats "Voter fraud doesn't exist" also Democrats "Russia fraudulently made Trump win the election"
      4. "Voting is being restricted" also "2020 had the highest election turnout ever.

Which grievance is imagined, and where is your proof of racism?
One example of each will suffice.

Statistically, you'll likely vote Democrat and get the same results though. Sadly

I don't like it how we treat people, I hope for racial equality for ALL races and that is from someone who is white! God loves everyone, not just some people! God says to love one another and to forgive those who wrong no matter what you think of someone! What God says is right not wrong! 🙏😭
