I've met Kenny and what she says, "What you see is what you get" is true. He was so gracious to stick around after a recent concert and took a picture with everyone who wanted to get one. My best friend toured with him on drums and really likes working with Kenny, who is really has a fun and positive attitude towards everyone.

In today's time, Kenny G is one of the best, I wish people would just leave him alon, most young people I know loovvee Kenny G, I think he,s just private and doesn't want everyone in his business, he,s different, let him be who his is. Damn.

all people who appreciate good music should feel grateful and lucky because they live to see the timeless legend of jazz of all time...his music is unique, elegen and most important is very comforting for your soul and inner feeling especially those wonderful and heavenly feelings. He is the one and only that can play that kind of music and uncomparable.

Everyone forgets that before Kenny started playing BALLADS exclusively, he was doing amazing upbeat stuff with Kashif and Jeff Lorber. That early music is some of the funkiest stuff you will hear. But he gets no recognition for that, as the solo ballads that came later were so hugely successful.

I love this documentary. I have taught saxophone at the university level for 20 years and Kenny G is something that comes up all the time. Personally, he doesn't bother me too much, however, he is NOT in any way, shape, or form a Jazz artist. That is the main problem musicians have with the discourse. The Harmonic language is from the Pop world, not Jazz. He does no collaborations with Jazz artists. He does nothing musically innovative. He fosters a cult of personality over art. He also is not formally educated, which is something that is important to modern jazz musicians. Who did he study with? He took lessons for one year i High School. Again, I think he's a good "gateway drug" for the average person to get into instrumental music and jazz.

Dismissing genre is absurd. We're not "post genre". And that has nothing to do with musicians who transcend genre, because those who do and are successful are still extraordinarily rare.

I like Kenny G. I'll be sure to check out this documentary. But I have to ask Penny. Do you to have a sister named Strawberry Fields?

Is 'casting' even the right term and concept for the subjects of a documentary?

These Jazzy people are just pissed off that Kenny made real money from Jazz and they never did and will.

Keith Jarrett made real money from jazz too, but no one's mad at him

I saw him in Montreux, and eventhough I did not like the Music I heard that he can play that Soprano Saxaphone.
I would not consider his Music Jazz, it is Pop Music. I like Pop to be clear about that!
His Music is just to slick for my Taste.

Let’s be honest, there are far worse atrocities when it comes to today’s music. Objectively looking at the music, it is peaceful, inoffensive (to non-snobs) and took talent to make, and we all know he is talented, despite him breaking traditional jazz. Forget the haters Kenny

@@FactualAmericaPodcast Thanks for the interview. Since my last comment, I finished watching it and look forward to watching "Listening to Kenny G." I listened to him from the mid-80s into the early 90s, but then veered off into other genres.

Music education is not what it was when Leonard Bernstein had his concerts for young people, and the problem is extending beyond the United States, but for a non musician even to talk about this subject, and this includes most critics, is like a trench digger talking about architecture.
