You need to make money and it is tough to make money with a hood truck today. It is all about being profitable and love your Videos, if you have technical questions let me know driver!!!

Once a guy sees on paper the money being left on the table in fuel cost, the plastic truck wins.
Personally, Id go with a pre emissions 900L with a 12.7 Detroit and run 3:55s or something like that with a 13 or 18 speed if you want to run a hood truck.
I love 379s too but they're too blocky, the 900L has a little bit of arrow dynamics to it and it gets better fuel mileage

Never understood the whole elog argument. An electronic log and a paper log are nothing more than a way log and track your hours. No matter which one you use the hours of service are the exact same. You are allowed to drive 11 and work 14 regardless of which method (paper or electronic) you use. Personally I fell the elog is so much easier and efficient than paper.
For those who want paper so they can run illegal, the fact of the matter is you can run illegal on either and if you get caught that's on you.
What I will say is that if you want to run paper bc you think it will be easier to run illegal and you need to work more 70 hours in a week you need to reevaluate how you're running your business. If have to work more than 70 hours in a week to make a profit, you shouldn't be in business and should probably find another line of work.

Don’t you love it. People who don’t even own much less drive a truck telling you how to spend your money. I had a punk on TH-cam give me a rash of sh&t about running a 94 379. Granted the truck isn’t a huge money maker but I’m semi retired, I do it more to get out of the house. I have pride in my old truck. Yes it’s too long and yes it has a black smoking problem and yes I spend too much on shiny stuff and yes I only work when I feel like it, but I’m not in debt to anyone and it’s not really a business for me. Tell the haters to kiss your butt. Have a good one.

80 or 90 percent of people don't want to see somebody succeed, and throwing away money is always bad business so if a truck can save money you better do it to save money for later. I love old school trucks but the fuel is your biggest expense

@@davidhershberger3910 no problem. Yes sir, asking 72,500. Has 600k on rebuild with paperwork. 18 speed was rebuilt about 525-550k ago with paperwork. At least one newer rear end with paperwork. 3:25 rears. Acert 500 cat. New kingpins with steers replaced at time of king pins, maybe 10k miles ago. Recently fully balanced driveline with all new u joints and one new yoke. Drives are at 40-50%. American class interior. Working fridge. Just put in new batteries with zero miles driven on it since. New door lock cylinders with matching new ignition so you just need the one key from the doors to the ignition. Overhead recently done when cylinder 5 injector was replaced. Basically no expense was spared on the truck. If it needed it, it got it. Also a green APU installed back in September. Green APU is still under warranty for another 2k hours or 1.5 years. Very solid truck.

Stay with the times... Guys get so stuck on the past and what WAS... they don't see what IS. You have to keep with the day and age. You don't see the big, SUCCESSFUL fleets buying OLD iron. Think about it. Could you compete with a B-model triplex today?
Great to look at, not great to feed your family. Times change, either change with them or become a relic like the 379. (and I love hoods... to LOOK AT!) Let someone else drive em!
