Crispin Glover talks about the speculation surrounding the part of the Joker in the latest Batman film, "The Dark Knight." Also discusses his latest directorial effort, "It is Fine! Everything is Fine!"
Episode 24 from www.mahalodaily...
He should still be the Joker, and replace Jared Leto.
leptoceratops thank u.
leptoceratops ....i can totally see this guy as the Joker! I didnt like leto taking the role.
Well then... I wasn't trippin'. If he smiles like a jerk, I can kinda go back & see the image of old school joker in my head
leptoceratops I can see him as the Joker but I think he would make a better Riddler.
He should be the new DCEU Joker , make it happen DC
He would be the best Joker ever
I don't know if he could beat ledger
Riddler
He would have a good one…not on par with Nicholson or better yet Heath
Yep. Could have been very unique and memorable.
He's so perfect to play the joker, he'd do an awesome job even with all the established Heath Ledger praise. The end scene from Willard is pretty much taked from and nailed-perfectly from Batman the Animated Series
I would be interested in seeing him as the joker in a movie even if its fanmade : )
The joker or the riddler
He'd make a fantastic Riddler, another Batman villian
OMG MAKE HIM THE NEW JOKER😩
Why do I feel like I just watched Spongebob Squarepants?!
mhm, indeed it felt like it lol
John Doe crispin glover as spongebob then ?lol
I believe he's a very underrated actor. I never did think of him playing as the Joker. But, now that I think of it he'd have been the perfect choice. Heath Ledger and especially Jack Nicholson did just fine, though...
He would be an awesome Joker ...hope he get the job !
He's smart enough to realise that for a couple of Angels films (which were great popcorn btw) he can fund films that his heart is close to. This garners my respect. I like the man.
He should most definitely play the joker.
I am proud to say that it was me... I started the on line campaign to get Crispin cast as the Joker! I did manage to convince an amazing amount of people that he was right for the part.... unfortunately, they weren't studio execs.
Start a petition. I would definitely sign it.
i really love him. He's such an eccentric and polite actor.
Obviously Heath Ledger was a fucking awesome Joker, but Crispin would've done a good job of it as well I'm sure.
I
met him in olympia wa. he was so funny
& sweet, a perfect gentleman!'
he would make a better Riddler
If I were to meet Crispin Glover in real life, it would honestly be the best day of my life.
I love his voice! I will also never forget his roles in Back to the Future, The River's Edge, and Alice in Wonderland!
Same! Also won’t forget his roles in Charlie’s Angels movies, Happy Days, Willy Wonka parody from Epic Movie, and Willard! And Like Mike!
I want to see more of him!
Same
I'd love to see his joker, just 5 minutes in make up, I'm intrigued because I can kind of picture it, a more needy attention seeking joker who has more of an immaturity about his character up against a lot more serious batman
This video was posted before The Dark Knight released.
Nice interview, straight to the point, not obnoxious, good questions.
私は彼がジョーカーを演じるその時まで死ねない。
I won't die until he plays the Joker.
He'd Be A Fantastic Riddler
he should have been jesus in 'the passion of the christ'
The factoid pop-ups are fucking annoying.
He was at the Castro theatre!! Holy I missed my chance.... though I have to admit I only recently discovered Crispin Glover.
In all honesty, I have always been a fan of his and this is the first I have ever heard that he was considered for the part of the Joker- he would have been brilliant! and I'm hoping they consider him for the future movies, perhaps as the Riddler or maybe the Creeper.
Holy crap.. you know, I had never considered the possibility, never crossed my mind. But THIS guy, THIS guy could have been a fan-freakin'-tastic Joker.
Of course, Ledger delivered one of the most memorable performances ever, and not -just- because he wasn't alive after the fact (many people attempt to over-hype post-mortem), and the role is already filled for the sequel (goodluck, Depp), but it would have been very interesting to see Crispin's take on the new Joker.
I too cannot believe that the movie industry is so snobbish and arrogant. He did so well on Beowulf.
i think Crispin's true acting talent would have blossomed through the joker.
Dude has the perfect face structure of the joker
I think Crispin Glover would make a awesome Riddler...
He’s a fantastic actor! He can play the best villain characters!
He doesn't age!!!!!he was in Friday the 13th part 4 and still looks the same. Corey feldman was just a small kid in that..now feldman looks older than him.he's an awesome underated character actor.i can't belive he was born in 1964.
Whoa this guy looks like he has hardly aged since Back to the Future and that was like 25 years ago.
@jconnor117 It's called, "BANKABILITY." Though Crispen's been around for a long while he's not a box office draw like Nickleson or Ledger. Both those names have a certain ability to garner money for the studios. Ledger just came off of his success in Brokeback Mountain.
Crispen? Other than a milquetoast Back to the Future character, he doesn't have the same draw and thus is a bigger risk for studios. Plus he'd had a few strange run ins on late night tv that hurt his reputation.
I like him, tho
@kalimaganeshshivan
he's son of Bruce Glover ,another actor, who played akward roles, guess it runs in the family :)
I love that he sounds so intellegent when he talks..but never boring...I could listen to his voice forever o.O
Well, you'd have to see the movies he directed to be aware of the deeper stuff he's done. Anyway you're right, he could be a great Riddler.
But i was wondering... what about he Mad Hatter???
The joker character would be the thing that pushes this guy over the cliff.
@miracleworker12744
whats wrong with having long hair? Mine is longer then his.
Look at the picture at 1:51 he looks just like Joker from Killing Joke.
This guy never ages !!!!!
He would have been a good joker
Didnt this guy play andy warhol in the doors movie?
Its not the same, seeing him interviewed when he is all serious and stuff. I love the energy that he gives off when he is smiling and laughing, its amazing.
@jconnor117 Crispin Glover said he knows the reality of how major studio film choices go. I'd trust him more than your rhetorical question.
Honestly he looks just like the joker from the comics !
that noise those little pop ups make is seriously annoying.
How many of you still remember Crispin Glover as George McFly ? father of Marty from Back to the Future ???
He was that Hero that Punched biff, saved Lorraine and married her.
great idea! Crispin would make a GREAT Riddler!!!!!
"Somebody gave me this telephone... I think it was Edie... yeah it was Edie... and she said I could talk to God with it, but uh... I don't have anything to say... so here... this is for you... now you can talk to God."
~I HEARD CRISPIN ANDY HELLION WARHOL GLOVER KEPT THE WIG FROM THAT SCENE~
Hey Mahalo, just a quick tip. The poping messages are, annoying, intrusive an really dont add anything to the interview. Just a tought
I hope Crispin goes to the Back to the Future reunion this November!!!!!!!
"Rubin Farr... Fontnoy Inn... Room 101."
~MY CAT CAN EAT A WHOLE WATERMELON~
He;s a unique kinda actor, he's easy to mimic as for how he talks (like William Shatner) but alot of his rolls are a creepy kinda character and he displays it very good.
He looks pretty much exactly like the classic Joker design (which is my favorite). Gaunt face, crooked nose... and he's able to look like an absolute lunatic when he grins.
I get your car towed all the way to your house and all youve got for me is a LIGHT beer?
~IT'S WARM EVEN....
WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS CAR RUNS ON...GOD'S OWN METHANE~
@CitySkin09 Laura Dern's half brother?? Are you kidding me????
~I'M MAKING MY LUNCH~
How about another joke
Man that's like not eating a full roast dinner just because it has sprouts on it -_-
Thats a heck of a strong tea she is drinking there. 4 minute long dipping of tea bag in her cup XD
what a nice guy
Strict vegetarian? Nope. I watched him eat “fois gras” (goose liver) while dining with Juliette Lewis & saw him ask where he could get fish because his blood sugar was low. So, you can’t call him strict vegetarian…
Crispin was always my number one Joker choice. I think he could take over well from Heath, but I also think he would work well for Riddler. But, if he would get Joker, David Tennant could be a great Riddler.
"give me a milk..chocolate"
Very talented actor, but very difficult to work with. The result: underwhelming career.
Correction, Crispin Glover IS a Taurus (Taurus begins on April 20th, which Crispin's birthday is. I would know, I share his birthday), Heath Ledger WAS a an Aries.
agreed. he would make an amazing riddler imo.
I loved Heath as the Joker, I wouldn't change that casting for the world. But Crispin would be amazing as the Riddler. "Riddle Me This!!!"
This is the guy Daxflame is inspired from, I think. Watch the Lettermen appearances. Glover's style is exactly like Dax.
LOL. you didn't read the earlier post. Someone asked if he was Biff. and I said "No way, he was George McFly"
I think Crispin is the only actor that has the ability to pull off the role of the Joker and give a performance that is as good if not even better than Heath Ledger's performance.
I think if the folks who produce the next Batman have any clue they will bring in Crispin for the Joker.
I met Crispin almost 20 years ago when I was actually reading the Batman comic book and even then I thought this guy has to play the Joker.
crispin glover as the riddler would be wonderful
i personally was one of those that thought he should play the joker, not that heath ledger didn't do an outstanding job himself
only that if you've seen willard, and the way he acts...you know crispin would've made an excellent Joker, still, i do love Heath Ledger's performance oh so much!
so though it would'nt be my first choice to get crispin in the batman franchise, it would be damn fun to watch :)
10 bucks says he nailed her.
i don't think he cares for that. have you seen his house and his car? he already has all the money he can spend. he's not the type to live in a beverly hills castle with 500 cars, personal zoo and a movie theatre, so he goes for the projects he believes in, rather then those that will bring him more money/fame.
Glover doesn't consider the part of George McFly as a fairly major role in a large box office movie? :S
I wouldn't doubt that he'd be a great Joker. He certainly is weird enough, and has the sharp features.
The riddler indeed.they would be stupid not to cast him as the riddler.the look, the voice, and the persona is spot on.he needs a black costume with grey question marks,a zorro mask,no hat,and a kick ass Caine.that would make the perfect modern riddler.
Nice job Crisp...Did you not think that BTTF1 was a major film? Seems to me it put you on the map in the eyes of most of your fans...that was your start...if that wasnt enought to get you casted in the Batman film nothing else will. Dave says Hi btw
Check out a clip of David Boreanaz in this little known film called 'Suffering Man's Charity.' In my personal opinion David would make a great Riddler, though I can probably see Glover doing it. It's a definite tie :)
Heath was amazing. Simply amazing. But I dont think he's the only one who could play it. The Joker is a cvharacter with many facets. I think Glover could be amazing as the Joker. As well as Joseph Gordon Levitt.
Crispin Glover would be perfect for a crazier and more hysterical Joker. Like the one in The Animated Series, and he certainly has the right look. But after Heaths multifaceted performance, a Joker like that wouldn't work.
There is no such thing as being "very unique". The condition of uniqueness is an absolute; either something is unique (one of a kind) or it is not. There's no middle ground in that one, people.
That is all.
hahahahaha ya that's it. that scene was like one big acid trip with a bunch of WEIRD people.
@DonnySpielberg -- Nah, not kidding man. His father Bruce had a child with Laura Dern's Mother Diane Ladd and that kid turned out to be Laura Dern. So half and half. I wish I was joking but it's true.
He could work as both the joker and the riddler...maybe more so the riddler the green suit the ? tie black cane with gold ? top and green fedora or bowler with a ? on the front....Yeah
wow, he sounded normal in this interview. He has the exact same hair style he had in the second Letterman interview from '87, lol. I guess he really likes that 'do.
@thtjusthappened17 Its a seen from Charlie Angels. He plays creepy thin man were he cuts a lock of hair from each girls hair a smells it before he fights them.
Whoa he almost reminds me of Heath in the face, the same facial build. He or Daniel Day Lewis could probably do the best portrayal of Heath's Joker.
And he is a "strict vegetarian". Perhaps there's a connection. I suspect plastic surgery on those cheeks, which weren't *quite* so sculpted before.
Nice to know that Johnny Depp's not the ONLY Hollywood actor who does that. :)
i've been trying in vain to download 'what is it?' for a while now, but haven't been able to find it. Could you tell me where he got it from?
I agree not to mention he played Willard so well you can see him played a twisted fucked up character just as good if not better than Ledger.
Google / youtube his name, the guy is a total nut-bar! He tried to kick Letterman in the head back in 87 while wearing heels... seriously.
Crispin Glover should be in the next Batman movie as the villain, whoever it is.
Holy shit, dude at 0:35 seconds looks like Gary Oldman in The Dark Knight, but obviously Gary Oldman is skinnier and better looking.
The Letterman incident was him in character promoting a movie that he had just shot. He wasn't high, and Letterman didn't get it.
I dunno who this guy Cripin Glover is...but if this interview is anything to go by... he is one of the most boring people ever.
on Letterman he was in character as 'Rubin Farr' from the movie 'Rubin & Ed'. so he is normal, he's just unconventional.
Okay. Crispin Glover=CREEEEEEEEPER. Why did he grow out his hair? Is he trying to terrify little girls all overrr !?
