How can you mention the demise of Pan Am and not mention Flight 103-the 747 blown up by a terrorist bomb over Lockerbie, Scotland? They declared bankruptcy less than two years later, in no small part because people were afraid to fly on their planes. The image of the broken nose of a 747 laying in a field with the Pan Am name and blue meatball clearly visible is absolutely unforgettable. Since it was terrorism, not an accident, that image was shown on the news regularly for years.
@@cassandrakarpinski9416 I think the flying public is more forgiving for that, especially because it was largely due to weather and pilot error on KLM's part. Any fallout from that was long gone by the time they went bankrupt. Pan Am 103 was different. It was a terrorist attack and people were afraid to fly on Pan Am because they were worried they'd be blown up. Pan Am didn't really have a domestic network--they focused on international flights. Compaq didn't just have a few interesting portable computers, they invented the IBM pc clone, reverse engineering the IBM to create their version, which led to all the DOS and Windows PC's that came later
I bet the next few days after Enron got in trouble was the busiest days in history for accounting with the rewriting of businesses books while they all scrambled to change them before anyone could found out that they were doing the exact same thing as Enron...
I'm not really sure if it belongs on this list, but Tristar could have been here too. It wasn't so much that you would buy a Tristar movie because it was Tristar, but it was a company the made movies and eventually went bankrupt and sold to Columbia because they couldn't keep up with the higher prices of heavy CGI movies.
They talk about the downfall of Netscape, but while Microsoft is mentioned, what's not mentioned is AOL's (America Online) possible collusion in that downfall. AOL's browser was always a scaled down version of Internet Explorer, even after they purchased Netscape, their main browser was that scaled down version of Internet Explorer if you used AOL as your ISP. Prior to AOL buying it, Netscape created the Mozilla organization which continued it's browser development, even after AOL broke off from the group. Mozilla would then create the Firefox browser. You could say that Firefox was the child of Netscape.
One of my daily drivers is a 2000 WS6 Trans Am I've owned since 2002. Owned many muscle cars in my 56 years, never had more compliments, questions and thumbs ups than this one. The day Pontiac died was a sad day for the auto industry.

@@lukeyarasheski5510 I didn't leave it out I just didn't specify it when i ended my original comment with the words 'and many others' considering there were countless arcade games under the Midway Games banner. one example of a franchise i didn't mention was the racing games with the common end word Thunder such as Hydro Thunder and Arctic Thunder.
@@lukeyarasheski5510 I had played Blitz The League at one point but it never got me interested in that franchise even though I had played my fair share of Madden NFL prior to that. personally i find it tragic that Midway games collapsed when they had a lot of great franchises that were stagnating while Mortal Kombat, Gauntlet and Cruisn got the bulk of the development attention.

I still have a 12-pack of Tab in my fridge, that bought in early 2021 when I heard it was going away. It’s not even that I ever had some huge love of it as a beverage. But it’s just sort of synonymous with the eras that I grew up in the late 70’s, the 80’s, and the 90’s. I also had a 2nd uncle who was an executive for Compaq in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I remember visiting his home, which was really a mansion, in a very exclusive community around San Francisco in 1991, where the likes of José Canseco and MC Hammer lived. Growing up in a tiny rural town in northern Michigan of only around 1,800 people, it really blew my mind at the time.
21:15 Kodak also made instant cameras shown later to infringe on Polaroid patents. I saw magazine ads stating the loss and offering to buy back offending products.
Pan Am had the bad luck of having one of their jets blown up by a Libyan terrorist's bomb over Scotland. They were already struggling by then, and this might have been the knock-out punch.

It wasn't so much that you would buy a Tristar movie because it was Tristar, but it was a company the made movies and eventually went bankrupt and sold to Columbia because they couldn't keep up with the higher prices of heavy CGI movies.
You forgot eckerd, jnco, wind breakers, m magazine, tips and tricks magazine, surge, hammer pants. I can go on.
I brought so many Kodak single use cameras😂
as a kid i remember my parents having a bunch of them
I think we all did back in the days before smart phones! 😩
Firefox is still my go to browser.
Netscape lived fast, died young, and left a tired corpse.
I wasn’t even aware Pontiac or Mercury Automobile went bankrupt! Jeez! I clearly wasn’t up to date on this stuff!
When the US bailed them out during the last recession, it was a requirement that they had to slim down their operations.
The Zune would have been forgotten if it weren't for Gurdians of the Galaxy 2
One of my daily drivers is a 2000 WS6 Trans Am I've owned since 2002. Owned many muscle cars in my 56 years, never had more compliments, questions and thumbs ups than this one. The day Pontiac died was a sad day for the auto industry.
I have always wanted a WS6 or SS from 00 or 01. Those things were the only American cars I ever truly liked that I could ever see affording
We had 2 different Mercury Sable stationwagons when I was a kid. I loved sitting in the rearview trunk seat with my little sister! It was basically the precursor to TV's in the back of headrests lol
I miss Kodak, they have other competitors like Agfa and Fuji. Sure, the other two when you develop those are colorful, but not as vibrant as Kodak, plus the Kodak Royal paper at the back adds a nice touch.
Yep Kodak made the best photo film!
"Splash in the matket"??? Come on you could have use that in the pebble watch one.
Oh and oh Henry candy bars
Honorable mention: Midway Games while the people running it like Ed Boon for example left and created a replacement brand for video game creation called Netherrealm Studios there's no denying that Midway Games was the dominant force in arcade games during the 90's and early 2000's with Mortal Kombat, Cruisn, Gauntlet and many others .
Forgot about Blitz man
@@lukeyarasheski5510 I didn't leave it out I just didn't specify it when i ended my original comment with the words 'and many others' considering there were countless arcade games under the Midway Games banner. one example of a franchise i didn't mention was the racing games with the common end word Thunder such as Hydro Thunder and Arctic Thunder.
@@RevanSecura I was just saying that Blitz was a great game. Not that you're an idiot for not knowing every game they hadn't produced
Wisk Laundry Detergent, which was known for those "Ring Around The Collar" commercials was discontinued in 2017.
Some of these were products. Zune and Tab are gone, but the brands Coca-Cola and Microsoft are still massive.
I had a 98 Mercury Mountaineer and it was one my favorite vehicles and it was very dependable up till my ex girl friend smashed it into a power poll, she was ok but my poor Mountaineer didn't survive. 😢
9:01 That's the face of a psychopath right there.
I concur.
Zune was the shit. I still have my zune HD and keep it limping along.
I used to love Kudos as a kid
Me and the Enron boys used to wear our Bugle Boys, pounding Tab while surfing Netscape. We'd upload our Kodak photos to our Zunes.
Growing up in a tiny rural town in northern Michigan of only around 1,800 people, it really blew my mind at the time.
i have a box of Twinkies in pantry from 5 years ago
I still have 3 of thease things. Aldo I am one of the few who liked the Orbits drink lol. Also the orbits was jellition I believe
I just captured the perfect Kodak moment.. in my mind 😆
Didn't realize Java basically came from Netscape.
At least other brands are still around such as Coca-Cola, Dodge, Lincoln, Microsoft Bing, Dr. Pepper and others are still around.
Those Peanut Butter Kudos was fucking awesome.
You forgot Oldsmobile, it was the second oldest car Marquis at the time of its demise.... You mentioned it in passing during the Pontiac portion.
It was instrumental in defining what an automobile is!! Shame on you!!!!
I’m sure it’ll be in the sequel.
I remember Teddy Ruxpin. Absolutely everybody was trying to get one. it was as bad trying to get the PS 5 when they first came out.
Sounds similar to everyone trying to get a Furby when they first came out. Didn't like those things either 😐
My Zune was the best thing at the time.
Crayola Pearl Crayons(2003-2010)
Love your videos guys and channels!😊😊😊❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Bot
You could've added Champion Bass boats to the list.from the late 70's until about 2011 they were one of the top selling boats because of how well made they were but due to poor management they went out of business in 2012 or 2013.even today they sell really fast through fb market place
I miss saying Pontiac !!
Hello Sebastián, great job on the video and list. Stay safe brother
the pebble watch was cool. with its led style always on low light was nice. along with the open app style. sad they couldn't have jumped into partner with fitbit instead of the going under.
I had a 99 Mercury Cougar - I LOVED that car.
Hey, Zune is still thriving thanks to the fans, their just not selling them anymore
I've driven a Pontiac all my life.😢
I'm still driving my 2008 G6.
😢 I'm at a loss for a car brand after this.
Dodge would be your next closest best bet for an “American sporty car brand”. I always wanted a G6 back in high school, I got a Saturn Aura (more or less, the same car underneath).
I miss Bugle Boy Jeans
I miss Friendlys, KB Toys and Blockbuster
I had multiple zunes in high school. I loved that thing so much
I was never the same after my local Toys R Us store left.
If I had a genie lamp, you best believe I’d bring Toys R Us back. That was my happy place.
