They weren't fighting living beings, and the line between droid and clone only seemed to be drawn at the flesh. Basically, they quickly became desensitized to the violence against their enemy as their enemy showed a willingness to do whatever it took to win, and their enemy wasn't even alive. They also saw themselves in the droids, to an extent, and it both enraged and terrified them. Then human officers seeing their clone subordinates and no different than the droids didn't help much either.

@Tron I actually think this gives a reason for a lot of Imperial Navy designs and doctrines, you can't beat the CIS droid fighters, so your best bet is to knock out their carriers. The droid fighters are largely battery driven and lack hyperdrives, lightspeed out of the area then return a day or two later to mop up the offlined droid fighters. The Star Destroyers are all built around killing other capital ships, let the TIE fighters handle defenses until you can down the enemy carriers or base, and get out, it's the perfect ship in the wrong war.
@tron Han said it, "That shot was one in a million kid." Tarkin getting blown up on the death star had nothing to do with effectiveness. He didn't plan the death star anyway...I loled at the description of the tactics as Reven-esque...
Even the early tactics seem better than the ones used during the Battle of Alderan in the SWTOR Hope trailer where the Republic Troopers not only charged at lightsaber wielding SITH LORDS but also did so by giving up the High Ground.
the force allows a user to sense danger. there was an army of force using sith. they wouldn't have much of an ambush as you would think. to stay at range so sith could deflect your own blaster bolts back at you would be suicide. they had to close at the start and battle at close range. similar to the geonosian battle in EP II. In EP II, The droids closed with the jedi. Resulting in only 30 of the 212 attacking jedi survived. in SWTOR, the alderaanian troops won.
@@aegis0302 just because someone wins doesn't mean they had good strategy (real life example is the Crimean War) and Havoc Squad were getting decimated before Satile Shan showed up.
@@Jedi_Spartan wait. what?! they win but they suck?! wtf? the original premise was that the troops gave up ambush advantage and high ground. I also think Palpatine used the later Clone Wars battles as a vetting process for Non-clone non-Jedi officers. Officers like Tarkin rapidly rose through the ranks because they used brutality, terror, and ruthless efficiency as their primary warfare strategies, tools useful for keeping the Empire in power, and it’s subjects afraid. Tarkin is one who thinks excessive brutality is the same as skillful strategy, which is why he never cared about casualties under his command as long as they were effective on the objective.
not necessarily by that time grievous already made his brutal and most devastating offensive besides coruscant Operation durges lance. he bombarded multiple planets ,released bioweapons wiping out large city planets similar to coruscant. most non jedi and non clone officers were out for blood and the clones finally having free hand to crush the seps happily followed these orders . the jedi protested but given how Terrible they were as officers and the seperatist leader was a former jedi they looked more and more like treacherous scum
The fact is that it is the way of the war. In times of peace the army and its efficiency erodes while in times of war they are become stronger. Thanks to Sidious this ruthlessness was expanded upon and so the Imperial navy was born. I also like that in legends and canon Thrawn is the combinance of both and yet much more witch makes him so effective and minimalize the number of casulities.
Sea warfare and space warfare are completely different. Plus it is almost the norm that a faction controls an entire planet so no wars between nations. Also water navy ships are obsolete in star wars because any idiot with a spaceship or fighter can simply destroy it.
I don't doubt a modern infantry platoon could wreck a platoon of clone or storm troopers... But I think we'd have a problem with the fighters and capital ships. No amount of tactics will let you do anything to a fighter that can shrug off your armaments entirely. XD

“The Tactics sure changed. The uniforms were first a part of a shock tactic that didn’t work against droids since they didn’t get effected by morale. In fact, I wrote a little presentation that got some things for the scouts of my battalion, including more equipment and camouflage patterns to paint on. Around that time, all the scouts in the army started putting camouflage paint of many varieties, and sharpshooters, then entire regiments. Yep. I contributed to the movement that those damn Kaminoans put on us. I hate Tarkin so much more every time I learn something new about him. Sooo one of the ads that just played for me here is for the movie coming out "Nobody" idk if anybody remembers but Nobody was the super hero in the early 2000's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show that inspired Mikie to become Turtle Titan
So basically the Jedi, contrary to what is often said, didn't really ruin to military. They just inherited such a shitshow even they couldn't entirely fix it. And then Tarkin and his like, backed by palps of course, pushed it into outright war-crime territory.
i still never understood why their assault ships would not barrage the shit out of the gun emplacements in the second invasion of geonosis. they lost SO MANY LAAT's and tanks to the flak it was honestly hard to watch. obv im talking about the emplacements outside of the shield, of which there were many.
Same reason America dropped the Atomic bombs on Japan. Japan never would've quit, the world was sick of fighting a war and it was guaranteed to end the war almost instantly
You know, kinda funny how Empire pretty much did completely away with using droid fighters in favor of bigger, bulkier, and manned Ties now that we have prequels and everything.
A clone would probably care about the battle tactics that sends them to their deaths. They wouldn't care about obirital bombardment if it meant saving a bunch of their jedi officers and clone brothers.
The clones were bred to follow orders. Whether that means sacrificing themselves or fulfilling a base delta zero (orbital bombardment). They were unquestioning, but not entirely to the point of droids.
Love those Elite AT-St's in the first picture they are badass as well at the AT-MP and the Elite version of it I wish they would make it into some movie or show etc and not just a mobile they are awesome as well as those Dark Trooper. (Wait a minute is that some picture from Star wars commander)
If you're forced to fight a war, fight to win. Then fight in such a way that the next ten guys you have to fight think twice and again before they force you to fight them.
I always believed it was because the Republic was tired of war. I mean think about it by the time of the Outer Rim Sieges the Republic had been at war with the CIS for almost 3 years. During those 3 years the citizens of the Galaxy had seen some of the worst fighting ever in their entire lives with war crimes being committed almost daily. The Republic realized with the start of the Outer Rim Sieges that victory was on the horizon and it was going to do anything to claim even if it meant abandoning what moral principles it had left.
What are mandalorian tactics? Not just against the jedi and not just against the sith either. What are their tactics against every other alien species that they fought against, especially in the mandalorian wars? My question is why are they the most superior Warriors within the Galaxy when we don't even have have any info on how they fight, anywhere in legends or Canon. Because I think it takes more than just a suit of armor and a bunch of fancy gadgets to make someone a superior war fighter.
Maringer86 We do have Legends info on their tactics, actually. It focused on heavy firepower and brute force, with their technology (heavy blaster weapons, armor, Basilisk war droids, and warships) being the backbone of all their strategies. Oftentimes they would just outright destroy entire or large swaths of worlds, using nuclear weaponry or turbolaser bombardment to glass them; at one point, their plans for an invasion of Kashyyyk involved glassing an entire continent to create a battlefield to fight on. In space, their tactics were primarily offensive and focused on overwhelming force, and the same was true for the ground; in both cases, they were usually more than willing to bomb civilian targets or just gun down civilians when they got in the way. One of their trademark tactical moves was launching an invasion by dropping their ground force down from orbit riding Basilisk war droids, which would waste no time with deployment once troops hit the surface.
On a smaller scale, we can see many Mandalorian squads or individual troopers emphasizing a great deal mobility and disruption tactics, something their famous jetpacks and varied arsenals aided with. This let them hit hard and fast, breaking up enemy formations and confusing their opposition. There seemed to be a focus on individual skill, rather than finely honed teamwork; while they could fight and move as a team, we can see a lot of times where Mandalorians seemed to fight independent of each other. Generally, Mandalorians seemed to pride themselves on being do-anything warriors, rather than individually specialized soldiers. One could reasonable expect any given Mandalorian to be able to fight, pilot ships, slice security, perform acts of sabotage or demolition, or perform reconnaissance. This would be something their glory seeking culture would emphasize. And while Mandalorians did emphasize a certain amount of honor in combat, it wasn't what some would consider conventional. Ambushes, hit-and-run tactics, terror tactics, and more could all be reasonably considered to be options on the table for a Mandalorian. Ultimately, they were ruthless, well-equipped fighters that emphasize individual excellence, rather than fighting as unit. Not to say that they couldn't be well-coordinated and work precisely with one another. But many were often more ready to seek glory for themselves, than not.
The senate happened because the senate used the senate to influence the senate to create the senate, so that the senate may be formed into the first galactic senate, which was ultimately torn down by the slippery senates.
These "Dark" tactics and strategies are what become necessary when you are required to make up for horrendous tactical minds of the jedi generals who knew nothing of war or battlefield strategy or tactics.
They let people who had no understanding of military tactics get high ranks without the work. And I am not just talking about the jedi (though many had effective tactics with minimal casualties). People like Tarkin who has a mentality unstable individual. His methods were brute forcing your way through things, ship to ship broadsiding which is a last resort in navy warfare, expensive heavy weapons that only really work in very specialized conditions.

Yeah, and the fact that it's our boi Obi-Wan Kenobi who is the one to find the clone army and goes along with the "purchase" just drives that home. You're rooting for these guys even while you're being shown how they've fallen.
To be fair, what is the clone army gonna do if nobody purchases them
Man that thumbnail is depressingly sad 😢 proves clones had more ❤ then most Jedi, alien species have a right to live peacefully to
I love all these republic wars, including the crusades.
i mean star wars is a story about fascism from the start, and even without the sith, imperialist tactics would’ve appealed to a desperate republic and civilians
If you think about it, they weren’t better than the people sending droids to cut us down.” ARF/CT-8711-12 “Cheng”, Captain And Scout of the 442nd Siege Battalion
that prtrait of moff is really nice
Why CIS tactics became lighter near the end of the Clone Wars.
Dude, you can't just give me Battlefront flashbacks like that!
Are there any notable militia groups from the clone wars?
Emmanuel Morris There were many. The Jabiimi Nationalists, the Onderon Militia, the Umbaran Military, the Korun Resistance... the list goes on
@@GeneralGrievous-1138 The Umbaran Military especially. Their tactics were so good, they gave the Republic a run for their money during the battle of Umbara.
thank you
Cham Syndulla's Free Ryloth is another significant one, that was revived to fight the Empire.
@@CABRALFAN27 And the onderonians became the partisans under Saw gurerera.
Talks about the ATTE, shows picture of ATAT
I didn't think about this until now I've rewatched the series 3 times lol
Anything:
Geetsly's: DARK
Tbh id like to see a video on that clone in the thumbnail
10:03 Yeah, because that makes sence for an army that gets increasingly outnumbered as the war progresses. I'm guessing this is EU-material?
Well if ya watched that far you should know that by now
I hate Tarkin so much more every time I learn something new about him. He is single-handedly responsible for so many needless and senseless atrocities, all of which were committed in the name of order at whatever cost necessary - an pathetic excuse of an ideology forced onto him by a psychopath of a father while he was just a child.
This may be an older video, but it's still a good and entertaning one. And it's very helpful for writting dialgou for the people of Kuat Drive Yards when they explain to Yoda and others who are picking up the ships and equipment for the First Battle of Geonosis who they developed the vechcials and ships used for the GAR in a fanfic I'm currently working on. So thank you for being a big help to me, Geetsly. As always.
Also, Ii'm the 500th comment on this video. Cool. :)
Can you even imagine if men like Tarkin and Yularen were given control of the seperatist army? If Dooku personally held them in correspondence? Devastating.
Sooo one of the ads that just played for me here is for the movie coming out "Nobody" idk if anybody remembers but Nobody was the super hero in the early 2000's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show that inspired Mikie to become Turtle Titan
Please no more depressing thumbnails. Clone troopers already go through enough. We don’t want to see them sad.
Simple, dirty tactics works
So basically the Jedi, contrary to what is often said, didn't really ruin to military. They just inherited such a shitshow even they couldn't entirely fix it. And then Tarkin and his like, backed by palps of course, pushed it into outright war-crime territory.
i still never understood why their assault ships would not barrage the shit out of the gun emplacements in the second invasion of geonosis. they lost SO MANY LAAT's and tanks to the flak it was honestly hard to watch. obv im talking about the emplacements outside of the shield, of which there were many.
Dang that thumbnail made me shed a tear
None of the tactics mattered if Palpatine decided which battles were won or lost before they started
I wonder what would happen to the republic had thrawn as a general
My fanfic thrawn joined palpatine during the clone wars
Palps would have done something, he would have won the war in thier favor.
Same reason America dropped the Atomic bombs on Japan. Japan never would've quit, the world was sick of fighting a war and it was guaranteed to end the war almost instantly
Nagasaki was unnecessary because they already declared to give up
Now change Republic tactics for American Tactics and it still works
What do you mean it got dark without Sith influence? Chancellor Palpatine was one of the most powerful Sith and controlled all of the Republic
Play it 1.25 play back speed it sounds better
The GAR were fighting machines. Tell me how do you apply Geneva Conventions to an enemy that is machine?
Tlking about 'imperial brutality' while showing Nataasi Daala murdering all the remaining imperial warlords.
2:02 di you spot their flag its
First Order!!!!! Hmm. Now Second Order???
The late stage republic is just the ideals of pius dea crusades coming back too life.
I love the intro to your videos
You know, kinda funny how Empire pretty much did completely away with using droid fighters in favor of bigger, bulkier, and manned Ties now that we have prequels and everything.
I like how you say that there was little Sith manipulation involved, because that is exactly what Sidious would want you to believe ;P
The Sith appointed the Admirals who assigned the officers.
6:22 Can we take a moment to appreciate Adi Gallia for all of her hard work?
What does one expect when prolonged war desensitised everyone involved to the horror surrounding them.
I remember the star wars game at 00:5
It was clash of clans but replaced with star wars
And you chose sides
So I’m guessing the roblox roleplaying server is dead? So much for Geetslys gaming network.
If you're forced to fight a war, fight to win. Then fight in such a way that the next ten guys you have to fight think twice and again before they force you to fight them.
Am I the only one or does the insignia at 1:56 look like the first order one...
Well that was the plan, this was a war of conversion, just as revan did in but in a whole new level
@@dungeonguy88 that was the very detailed answer i was looking for, thank you very much.
Kamino is a water planet they should have some dope naval tactics 🤔🤷♂️
Good job 👍
I want to go home, but I don’t know where home is. There is no place for a Clone...
Screw the Jedi, you are guys are living beings to me
Why did Tarkin, and Yularen, not start to direct Republic Naval policy to adress the failures of the Camino cloners?
The senate happened because the senate used the senate to influence the senate to create the senate, so that the senate may be formed into the first galactic senate, which was ultimately torn down by the slippery senates.
Warcrimes may be illegal, but God Damn are they effective
They aren't really, you want to be kind to your enemies so they surrender and don't fight to the death
ah you can tell its a greetsly video when it has the word DARK in it.
1:53 Where is this image taken from? Also, I have noticed, that Pius Dear symbol looks a lot like certain fundamentalist group's symbol...
If only the Pius Dea dealt with those unsanctioned psykers sooner then it would be the Imperium of man instead of the republic.
These "Dark" tactics and strategies are what become necessary when you are required to make up for horrendous tactical minds of the jedi generals who knew nothing of war or battlefield strategy or tactics.
I just think the same, Jedi generals sucks a giving order to the clones (basically just charge at the enemy for 7 straight seasons).
Why are there 2 videos?
Can it be said that through multiple visits to see Palpatine that the dark side might of influenced or altered ones perceptions and logic?
They let people who had no understanding of military tactics get high ranks without the work. And I am not just talking about the jedi (though many had effective tactics with minimal casualties). People like Tarkin who has a mentality unstable individual. His methods were brute forcing your way through things, ship to ship broadsiding which is a last resort in navy warfare, expensive heavy weapons that only really work in very specialized conditions.
It's explained the entire republic was being influenced by the Dark Side.
Person: "Why republic war tactics got dark?"
Me: "It all starts on a jungle world with a young sap bearing the most British name in sci fi"
They downloaded the 1 credit per second plus 2 other changes mod for EAW
xD very funny dude
Gotta love EaW mods
I miss the army or the old republic. Good times
Everyone is great at fighting the last war, but in this case, nobody remembered it.
