  • One year ago I netted this spot during a massive flood, so I decided to give it a shot in the middle of the summer, when the water was much, much lower.

Love your enthusiasm! I used to keep fish in the 90’s. Had a room full of tanks bred and raised Apistogramma and other species to help pay for college, and because I loved them of course!

I’d love to see a tutorial on how to use those big Shad for catfish. I’m always looking for explanations for new types of fishing

Weird how Wild Life makes a cast net video and yet I watch. Very interesting to see what is pulled up in his cast net unofficial survey. Keep these videos going! I need to learn how to throw one and use at lake houston.

Sometimes people vilify a species that is invasive (understandable) however less thoughtful people only see "bAd FiSh" because they're unable to see in anything but black and white. Lovely animals, unfortunate situation, great videos.

What a beautiful place...I feel like you can just picnic everywhere there in the US. Here (I live in Sumatra Island), it's a bit too dangerous for me to just go out alone to catch fish in random places. Too much unkempt high grass, poisonous snakes, scorpions, large centipedes, even crocodiles...while in the city the rivers/bayou/ditches/dams were too dirty, the water is dark brown and muddy, throwing cast nets would stuck in garbage like tons of plastic, barb wires, tree branches, etc, so you have to jump into the water to set your net free without ruining it. Not a fun experience... 😭 I wish I could throw a net and catch such big fish, wow...huge tilapia, fat buffalo (?), and many others in your videos. Here, a 6 hours adventure only grant my friend three tiny salais fish (I don't know what it called in English, some kind of catfish I guess). 😅

Usually that part of the pond by the dam has a million turtles. The last time I fished there, I saw at least 200 tilapia dead on the banks. Not sure how they all died (before the freeze) but a jogger said they were everywhere on that pond and I only saw about 20% of the area.

Certain types of Tilapia are allowed for private water stocking in Texas. No doubt this is how they end up in public waters though…

If you catch a Talapia it is illegal to return to the water. It is a hefty fine

Someone please refresh my memory. Do you need a license to use a cast net??

    • @wildlifefishingshow

Yeah, it's regulated the same as a rod and reel.

I've done it twice with a net and they're comparison videos, going back to it was the point.
