Many in the comments have rightly pointed out "it is not Alangu" however fail to recognise that the Bully Kutta was created during colonial times by cross-breeding the Alangu and the English Mastiff. Further, the version above is the "Alangu" variety of the Bully Kutta. Definitely not a pure breed Alangu but via efforts, the original can be brought back. What he said w.r.t history is accurate. Food is partially accurate - they eat raw meat (if you choose to give them). They can subsist on normal food too. Only that the pure breed alangu is "extremely rare" to find. Only found "one local breeder" in a very rural locality of Tamil Nadu. They had been breeding and protecting them since the last century and back. They also found many as street dogs as early as year 2000 - 2005. They have been selectively breeding only with pure breed alangu. The contact details, I don't have as they didn't divulge since the property they are staying in belongs to a NRI person and they are only caretakers. They don't plan to give away an alangu soon. They are using it as guard dogs.
Note : This definitely is not a sensational post. I had seen the video and location myself. Pure-bred Alangu are "ferocious" dogs. They always have a mask on. Since we have an agricultural farm (my personal background) we have trained local dogs for guarding purposes. The locals in my district know how to do it. It involves a particular diet and tying up of the breed making it react. May appear brutal but nothing happens to the dog. Only the nature becomes ferocious. Alangu are not like this. They are ferocious naturally from a young age - why they were used by Cholas and Pandyas. These dogs would have been truly extinct if not for that family and few others. Let's protect our native breeds. (If you do come across an alangu - do be careful. It is not the usual dog, it needs that hardcore training. It is intelligent and has it's own mind - making it more dangerous. They never sit still - they charge)

First of all this is not Alangu. Alangu breed is already extinct. Some blood line is there in Alangu mastiff ( one of the type is bully kutta), But the bully kutta we are using here is modern bully kutta, where there is no relationship with Alangu.
