Not sure if you mentioned it because I could only watch a video halfway through but one important thing to note is that the PB 1000 only has a box volume of 1.1 ft.³ where the PB 2000 has a box volume of 3.9 ft.³, that is almost 4 times as much, if that will not give you an indicator how much harder the PB 2000 will hit
the PB1000 Pro is smaller than the PB2000 Pro but it's not that small. Perhaps you're thinking of the SB1000? The PB1000 Pro is about 60% of the internal volume of the PB 2000 Pro.
I've got a pair of PB 1000 Pro's in my living room and I don't have any regrets. They shake the windows, dishes, couch, etc all day long and I find myself turning movies down simply because they're too loud before the subs run out of steam. If I were to upgrade, I would skip the PB 2000 Pro and just go to the PB 3000 as that's a very significant step up over the 1000's where the 2000 is just a little bit (couple dB) better than the 1000's (and not enough to justify the price difference IMO). My .02.
Will I feel that extra slam in the low end at moderate volume levels? At the moment, I have dual PB-1000 Pros set to -10 db. If I can get significantly more punch in the low end without raising the volume, then I will definitely upgrade, as I am well within the 1-year upgrade plan offered by SVS.
Yes, that's what the additional power is for. How much of a difference is best left for a real time audition. Keep in mind that dual PB1000 Pros nearly equal to a single PB3000 in terms of absolute slam and output capabilities.
Good comparison, I think the better way to look at is the $900 PB2000 Pro is not 150% better than the $600 PB1000 Pro but I'd wager to bet that the PB1000 Pro is 150% better than say a $400 RSL Speedwoofer 10S based on CEA2010 numbers. I think if I do upgrade subs, I'll be going DIY next time around with the attempt to build more discrete looking sub that can pass as an end table. Edit: and if you compare to other brands the PB1000 Pro smokes the Klipsch SPL120 for example for less.
@@thomasschafer7268 Yeah they had a price hike maybe 6 months ago due to supply chain and inflation. Pretty much around a $200 USD price increase over what i mentioned above.

Be really interesting to know if you think you can ‘feel’ a difference. I can’t decide with my PB2000 Pro in both modes but some say ported moves more air so you get more feel which can be true, others say pure SPL energy is SPL energy so it’s in the mind 😄

Thank you for this extremely informative review! You mentioned the PB 2000 PRO slams like being hit in the chest with a baseball bat, whilst the PB 1000 PRO is more like being hit in the chest with a baseball. My question is, how much closer to getting hit in the chest with a bat will two PB 1000 PROs get you? Thanks
Thank Home Theater Gamer for this DETAILED & HELPFUL comparison of SVS PB-1000 PRO and SVS PB-2000 PRO Subwoofer. One question, please. In your opinion WHICH MICROPHONEs are the best to record the bass of these 2 subwoofers. My guess is their frequency response must be at least 20Hz but I'm not an audio professional. Therefore, I need your opinion, please.
I would really like to see what your main speaker does to the curve at 12:58. As I assume the fronts should be well capable in taking most of the space around 100hz and not something that a sub should take care of, right?
The only home subwoofer I've ever owned was a tiny vented 8"(I think, could have been 6.5") Klipsch sub that came with the Promedia desktop speakers lol. I thought it was so awesome when I got it in 2011. Plan on buying an SVS sub tomorrow. Definitely should be fun.

I think that largely depends on your personal preference. Ported subs are great but some prefer the sound from a sealed enclosure. However, either would likely sound good in your space. If you can afford it, I always say go with the bigger sub if you can and space isn't a concern.
Hey great video, I'm having a hard time deciding between these two. I'm in a duplex and can't have the bass too loud most of the time. I still want nice clear bass and I want to be able to really fine-tune my bass when I have to listen at a lower volume. I will be placing the sub near field to get the best low volume bass but I would like to know which of these 2 has better and more percise fine-tuning at a lower volume?
Honestly, they both offer the same functionality in terms of tweaking and fine-tuning at a lower volume. The PB-2000 Pro does have more output overall, but if you're keeping the volume low then you may be throwing money away going with the PB-2000 Pro if that's your situation.
For my size room my dual SVS PB-1000 pro's sounds amazing. I'm running at -10db and the receiver at -0db after calibration. If I moved to a larger room then upgrading to a bigger sub will make sense.

Watching rew measurements is a great way of seeing how a subwoofer works comparing different models, however it's not everything. When you compare both rew lines there are very close. They are the same around 95% of the Hz. However when you were describing the feelings, it looks like there were almost night and day. I've seen a subwoofer have better rew measurements, but in a blind test, prefer the worse one (according to rew). How can you measure how explosive a subwoofer is?? That explosiveness (plus high spl) is what is giving you the feeling of slam.
Like your content. Expecially minidsp guide to setup subs. What I'd like to see is something more to diferenciate your content from others. For example max SPLs or other measurements in your room with actual subs would be awesome... To see where are the actual limits outside of CEA2010 measurements which not all brands deliver. Thanks
My brother has dual regular pb1000 and he's wondering if the pro 2000 is worth it I'm not sure as I went with dual 3000's and never heard the 2000's but I'm thinking it would be a great upgrade for his medium room. The 3000's are overkill for his room and the extra cash would be a waste. What is your thoughts on the 2000 pro from a regular 1000?
There's no contest that the 2000 Pro would beat the regular 1000, but by how much and is it worth the cost? I can't say as that is only a decision you and your brother can make. Personally, if I had the budget, I'd go with the 2000 Pro because otherwise, I'll always wonder "what would that have sounded like?" Haha.
Great video love the comparison with the 2 subs Iv have a few subs over my time and did have the 2kpro about 9 months ago and was turned with a mini dsp and it just couldn’t hit the bass like the dual pb1000 pros iv got so much better for multiple seating positions and when I have them tuned I could hit lower and cleaner then 1 pb2000 pro. I have one PB-1000pro and am toying with the idea of swapping it for a 2000pro but do want to wind up with two subs in the near future. If it’s going to be better to have two PB-1000pros then I think I’ll just stick with what I’ve got.

What do you consider to be small, medium, and large room sizes? My living room is 25 square meters, which is, by my calculation, around 269 square feet.
I’m in a conundrum. Would 1 PB2000pro be ok if it’s just for 1 seating position? I would still get a minidsp to iron everything out. It would be a cheaper option for me than dual 1000’s + minidsp.

Hello! Thank you very much for the video, it was very helpful. I have a room of about 1400 - 1500 cubic feet. My listening area is about 780cubic feet and listening position to the center channel is about 8.5feet. What would you suggest for sub woofer/(s)? I plan to buy the polk es20 and polk es30 for front line (or the magnats 503, 53 - though i lean more to polk). As for the sub i was thinking about: - svs pb-1000pro since it seems that pb2000pro would be an overkill, - 2x sb1000pro. - Magnat Cinema Ultra Sub THX-300.
Would you recommend the pb 1000 pro or the sb 2000 pro if bought at the same price? Mostly music which is why I'm leaning towards the sb but I just don't know
That’s going to largely depend on room size in addition to what you want to use it for. The SB 2000 Pro does have more power at 550-watts RMS vs the PB 100 Pro’s 325-watts. That alone would make me consider the SB 2000 depending on the size of my room.
Cheers for the video Brad, that’s exactly the tests I needed (especially the phasing). I’ll get a PB2000 Pro for the rear now after seeing this. How big is your room out of interest?
You don't place both subs upfront for room response in multi sub configuration place 1 sub in location desired upfront or corner loaded and hopefully absolutely, if possible, place 2nd sub in opposite wall boundary location results will definitely challenge your 1 PB 2000 opinion.
In an ideal room with no limitations regarding placement, you are absolutely correct. Placement of dual subs is crucial to getting the most out of them. However, many rooms either can't accommodate this setup, or someone may be going after how it looks over performance. How many dual subwoofer setups have you seen where both subs are placed in the front corners? Quite a few. It's not ideal, but setup/time aligned properly, it will still provide a better experience than a single subwoofer most of the time.

Correct. What would a sound test recorded with a microphone then compressed for TH-cam tell you? Nothing of value. That’s why measurements are the ideal way to compare as they show you visual data that represents each, which are far more useful than a sound test or demo.
@@HomeTheaterGamer yes information on paper works for you but that’s not enough for me there are other TH-cam videos they give you actual sound tests between products and you can hear the difference take care
@@alambe7275 thanks for the response. I understand that and it can come down to what someone prefers. Like I said, I don’t typically do them (unless it’s a stipulation for a product review, such as the BENQ monitors I’ve reviews, then I do) but if it’s something that my audience starts to expect then I will take that into consideration because I do try and put my audience first. Just know that I do take your comment to heart and it’s not something I ignore. I am always looking to improve things in my videos. Just for the heck of it, I’d like to throw a counter-point out there: The unfortunate truth to doing any type of sound tests is the sound coloration you get from the recording microphone used as well as whatever playback device the viewer is watching on. That doesn’t include any compressors or limiters used when doing the final audio mix for the video, either, so you can quickly see how it can add up to an experience that isn’t accurate to what the speaker or sub is capable of. Bottom line is: you’re hearing the limitations and capabilities of the microphone more so than the speaker or subwoofer, so I’d always suggest taking those sound demos with a grain of salt.
if your considering the pb1000pro in a mid sized room (mine is 18x16) dont.... i mean it does ok. will be enough to piss neighbors off in an apartment building but it wont deliver to an enthusiast IMO. when it comes to feeling the bass dude is just wrong. its not a baseball. its more like a wiffle ball. you know the plastic ones with all the holes for children. i know this is their entry sub but compared to the kilpsch subs i was running and everyone talking down on them. i was expecting too much from this. plus IMO the ported subs sound very airy. vs a slotted design u dont get that as much from every sub ive heard at least. at 600 bucks personally id rather buy a used sub of higher quality. and the app is actually overly annoying and keeps defaulting to sub level -10 every time i open it and its a 50/50 chance of even working when i open it. half the time i can adjust volume from -60 to 0 and it does nothing at all. its 2021 and honestly i cant think of a device thats 5 years old that even has support any more in apps. premium audio is something that should stick around for decades. yet svs is relying on temporary tech to control its subs. maunal controls would of been a much better choice.
Every room is different, and this video was based on my personal experience with both subs. I used that baseball reference as an analogy, it’s not a literal statement, because you can imagine the difference in feeling and weight. Again, that’s just my experience in my room. However, there isn’t a difference between a round port and slotted port in terms of sound quality and air output, unless the round port is too small, then you’ll get port chuffing. But they will sound exactly the same. What I can say is that the round ports are totally tubular, while the slotted ports are typically much more flat.
Trust me I saw it too but I didn’t have time to reshoot so I just moved forward. I’m just a one man show and do everything myself. Sometimes things just can’t be perfect as much as I’d like them to be. This is, after all, a video a did for free that I put on the internet. And… this video is nearly 3 years old. the PB1000 Pro is smaller than the PB2000 Pro but it's not that small.
My .02.
I just rewatched that part and realized that. Sorry about that!
Good job comparing these two very good subwoofers! 😄Great company too!👍
Good comparison, I think the better way to look at is the $900 PB2000 Pro is not 150% better than the $600 PB1000 Pro but I'd wager to bet that the PB1000 Pro is 150% better than say a $400 RSL Speedwoofer 10S based on CEA2010 numbers. I think if I do upgrade subs, I'll be going DIY next time around with the attempt to build more discrete looking sub that can pass as an end table. Edit: and if you compare to other brands the PB1000 Pro smokes the Klipsch SPL120 for example for less.
All good points. Always enjoy your insight, Tyler, and appreciate you taking the time to comment.
Pb1000 900€ pb2000 1300€ now
@@thomasschafer7268 Yeah they had a price hike maybe 6 months ago due to supply chain and inflation. Pretty much around a $200 USD price increase over what i mentioned above.
@@TylerStout inflation is increasing because everyone is panicking and putting their prices up. Why can’t everyone just stop and hold their prices?
@@Nick-cs9dt pretty simple, money. If your build of materials(bom) cost increases and logistics for shipping stuff increases eventually it will get to the point where it isn't profitable to absorb the increased cost and you need to increase your price. Definitely sucks though.
Pb1000 pros are fine with low frequency when they are tuned right. I have 2 pb1000 pros with a mini dsp and they sound so much better then a single pb2000 they dig so much lower then a single pb2000 pro. if your going to go one sub yea get the 2000 pro but if your looking for bigger sound and dynamics for the same price get dual pb1000 pros
Can you please do some reading with the PB-1000 Pro sealed (plugged) vs ported modes? Thanks man! Keep up the good work!
I'm currently waiting on getting some port plugs and will definitely be doing some readings and a video about using SVS's subs as sealed.
Be really interesting to know if you think you can ‘feel’ a difference.
I can’t decide with my PB2000 Pro in both modes but some say ported moves more air so you get more feel which can be true, others say pure SPL energy is SPL energy so it’s in the mind 😄
I run dual PB1000 pros with one port plugged for gaming and both open for movies and the diffence from 17-30hz is def noticeable and even in REW there is a few DBs of difference
@@justinmccauley143 why? What benefits are you noticing for gaming?
@@emmanuelamaya592 for gaming the frequency usually dosnt drop below 24hz so I’ll leave one plug in just for a little more hard faster hitting. For the movies since a lot of LFE tracks dip below the 20hz range I’ll remove the plugs.
Definitely should be fun.
so........ whats the update - 2 weeks later
Hi i got 2 pb 1000 svs. What is your opinion if I was to upgrade my system in adding a 2000 pro sub together with my the pb 1000.Or else should i get 2 svs 1000 pro.Thanks.I love your video and are very detailed and interesthing.
i have to go with a sound bar set up....was thinking of getting the
sennheiser Ambeo....would it be good to go with the sb1000 or should i
or could go with the sb3000....would it sound good or should i go for the pb versions......mid size room and watch tons of movies... .....thx from
Canada....cheers
What’s your room size? Mine is 14ft length x 12ft width x 10ft height. Am in confusion to choose between PB 1000 Pro vs PB 2000 Pro. Somebody says 2000 Pro would be overpower for this dimension room.
@@padmaraj690 my room size 14' wide and 16' long 9' ceiling. Pro PB2000 is not overkill for your room but a Pro PB1000 will also work for your room.
what receiver? I'm finding i need to boost mine to +10 to get any decent bass
@@artvandelay837 at the time I was running the Pioneer Elite SC-05, I recently upgraded my AVR to the Marantz Cinema 50, my subwoofer avr db settings is at -2.0 and my PB-1000 pro at -15 for more balanced bass, if I set it to -10 the walls, doors, windows etc vibrates too much.
@@retroforce6919 i have the exact same receiver and sub.are you using the manual setup or auddessey? If i do a test tone at -2db i can't even hear it. I have no idea why it's so quiet.
Ok yup you convinced me to return my 1000 pro and spend a little more for the 2000 pro.
@@HomeTheaterGamer ahahhaha well I ended up convincing him to save a couple more months for dual 3000 like I got.
Great video love the comparison with the 2 subs
Iv have a few subs over my time and did have the 2kpro about 9 months ago and was turned with a mini dsp and it just couldn’t hit the bass like the dual pb1000 pros iv got so much better for multiple seating positions and when I have them tuned I could hit lower and cleaner then 1 pb2000 pro. That’s my experience with the subs and my room eq but over all I do agree with go dual pb2000 pros if budget down the road works
I have the dual 2kPros. It makes a difference before I upgraded from my single sub.
Really! You find that two PB-1000pros hits harder then a single PB-2000pro? I have one PB-1000pro and am toying with the idea of swapping it for a 2000pro but do want to wind up with two subs in the near future. If it’s going to be better to have two PB-1000pros then I think I’ll just stick with what I’ve got.
@@TheDanmanguy in my open plan living with 6 seater couch it’s better for me to have 2 subs for multiple listen positions now I could have gone 2 pb2000s but at the time when the pb1000s came out they were 800 Australian dollers , now I need a second sub but didn’t wanna spend money so sold off the 2k and got 2 pb1000 pros for the same price and I had money left over and it sounds so much better faster , deep lows , for music and movies. The 2000 is a better sub but when I could have 2 over one for less price it was a no brainer. I think if u want one sun go 3k up but iv had them 2 and had 2 sb3000s before and in my room the pb1000 sound best for me with my setup and speakers
@@mdoh8209 wild! K I’ll keep that in mind. The guy who sold it to me recommended two of the same instead of one bigger badder. I’ve been annoying him with emails picking his brain about it and teasing a return but I think this settles it for me. For now another sub is not an option but down the road it will be. The one I have has enough output for my situation but it does leave me wanting more punch. I’ll hold off for a second of the same and go from there.
I currently have my PB 1000 original stacked on top of my 2000 pro should I upgrade it to the 1000 pro or get another 2000 pro ?
What do you consider to be small, medium, and large room sizes? My living room is 25 square meters, which is, by my calculation, around 269 square feet.
I’m in a conundrum.
Would 1 PB2000pro be ok if it’s just for 1 seating position? I would still get a minidsp to iron everything out.
It would be a cheaper option for me than dual 1000’s + minidsp.
I'm currently using an SVS PB 1000 Pro, there are a few scenes in the film where the bass isn't strong and the sound is broken, if I replace it with an SVS PB 2000 Pro which has more power than the SVS PB 1000 Pro, I won't have any bass problems. is it no longer strong like what I experienced with the SVS PB 1000 Pro? thanks a lot....
As for the sub i was thinking about:
- svs pb-1000pro since it seems that pb2000pro would be an overkill,
- 2x sb1000pro.
- Magnat Cinema Ultra Sub THX-300.
Hi from France 😎, for 100% home theater, what do you recommend in term of sound quality, pb2000 Pro or sb3000 ?? Thx !
For a room with 14 x 14 feet is pb1000 enough or i need pb2000.
My room is closed isolate 12x9 .... so only for movie.. I want to feel the vibration....go for 2000 pro??
He mentioned his room size in the original PB1000 Pro only review. It's 17x20 feet
My single pb2000 pro is powerful enough to shake my 220 sqft room. I want to add 1 more!!
I have a polk hts 10 inch
But might get svs pb 1000 pro
The pb1000 pro is no longer the best bang per buck in the industry. The old 10" model was $300 chaper and similar in performance.
Thanks
Svs pb 1000 pro sub woofer can not compare with other entery level subwoofer, pb 1000 Pro has Amazing performance , output and sofisticated. So pls dont call it as n entery level sub...!!!
Thanks. I go buy the PB 2000 pro for my bedroom. Its bigger then i thought i like it first i look to the PB 3000 for in my bedroom lol. But Expers say PB 2000 pro is realy the maximum power for your room. And the PB 3000 is way to much
Now i have a JBL 5.1 soundbar with subwoofer but i have a question for anny body ho read and know this??
The subwoofer from JBL 5.1 SOUNDBAR. they say its 300 watt power
But i dont know. Ive this. RMS or PEAK power that 300 watt. I have search every where online. But they only say 300 watt power. I hope its peak power haha ive anny body know this please let me know. TH ANKSSS✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
Liked and Subbed!
No sound test
Just for the heck of it, I’d like to throw a counter-point out there:
The unfortunate truth to doing any type of sound tests is the sound coloration you get from the recording microphone used as well as whatever playback device the viewer is watching on.
@@HomeTheaterGamer thank you great point
if your considering the pb1000pro in a mid sized room (mine is 18x16) dont.... i mean it does ok. will be enough to piss neighbors off in an apartment building but it wont deliver to an enthusiast IMO. when it comes to feeling the bass dude is just wrong. its not a baseball. its more like a wiffle ball. you know the plastic ones with all the holes for children. i know this is their entry sub but compared to the kilpsch subs i was running and everyone talking down on them. i was expecting too much from this. plus IMO the ported subs sound very airy. vs a slotted design u dont get that as much from every sub ive heard at least. at 600 bucks personally id rather buy a used sub of higher quality. and the app is actually overly annoying and keeps defaulting to sub level -10 every time i open it and its a 50/50 chance of even working when i open it. half the time i can adjust volume from -60 to 0 and it does nothing at all. its 2021 and honestly i cant think of a device thats 5 years old that even has support any more in apps. premium audio is something that should stick around for decades. yet svs is relying on temporary tech to control its subs. maunal controls would of been a much better choice.
The eyes on the prompter are very annoying.
I’ve got my teleprompter dialed in now haha.
