Ah man that's painful. I think I would have kanned the east, or if I didn't kan the east I at least would have left the west alone. After the kan yaku is a low chance to get +1 han where the extra east dora is guaranteed +1 han, but honestly I think that was just bad luck rather than a tactical misplay
