"Caruso" is a song written by Italian singer-songwriter Lucio Dalla in 1986. It is dedicated to Enrico Caruso, an Italian tenor. The song simply tells about the pain and longings of Caruso who is about to die while he is looking into the eyes of a girl who was very dear to him. Caruso was an acclaimed Italian operatic singer who was one of the greatest and most sought-after singers during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A few years before he died, he met and wed a woman 20 years his junior, Dorothy Park Benjamin, whom Lucio Dalla describes in this song "Caruso". With her he had a daughter named Gloria.

I've left several comments about this video over the last few weeks already, but here I am again. I can't stay away from it for long. I have 100s of videos on my "watch list" and I have a dozen covers of this song (beside the 2 I mentioned before Lara Fabian / Julio Iglesias) including Lucio Dalla. But this is my favorite video --- I love everything about it -- the BEAUTIFULLY shot video, the song, you, gorgeous Cristina, the incredible emotional performance ( that I compared to Sophia Loren in "Two Women").
All of this together just stops time for me when I watch it.
If this were a vinyl record I would have worn it out by now. I'm SO glad I have this masterpiece.

I want to throw a comment in here from "left field" Watching this video for the fourth time now a memory just crashed into my head. The lady I named one of my daughters after, (Sophia) Loren was in a movie called "Two Women". There was a rape scene in the movie. There was a close up shot of her face in the scene. The anguish in her face was matched here. All of a sudden this is my favorite version of this song. I Loved Sophia enough to name my daughter after her. You look a lot like my idol in her younger days ---SO💗💗💗
