Almost forgot to thank Doug for blessing me. Went to the lake last night for about an hour between storms with a can of corn (Dougie inspired). And got me a nice carp, a good reddie and a great yella. Left just as the next storm broke. Thanks Doug! They take any old shit in the Capital ;)
Are fished there a few times I went there Monday that just went. Cannot believe how many pelicans. My friend was like we should take out paddle boards on and I was like well I don't think we can. All I know is the only Lake that we're allowed to is basically West Lakes for the paddle boards. @captainfrank01
That’s not a bad session Frank, 3 nice carp, at least the “T’s” kept you busy, beautiful native fauna I think 🤮... Funny how the dazzling “punchmaster” floats worked and the unweighted didn’t... both very sensitive methods ...Robbie had the same last week 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Here is two stupid carp baits that actually work well. Raspberry licorice slice and put on the hook through it. Raspberry or Strawberry pudding mix made form white bread, no crust , some flour and raspberry or Strawberry jelly crystals. Mix together with enough water to make a very stiff dough. Roll a ball, mould around the hook. cast gently and wait and see what happens. I often use the pudding in the rive Murray at Morgan S.A. and I was given some licorice for Christmas. I gave it a try and carp at Morgan ate it. Stupid as it sounds it works.
Interesting. Sounds too good for the carp, I reckon I'd eat it! I know they certainly have a sweet tooth, so I guess anything like that is worth a try!
Have you ever tried mussels ? Since some guy mentioned using them as bait I've caught quite a lot at different waters here in NW England. Usually carp but also roach, chub and perch. Seem to get more bites than sweetcorn, worm, maggot etc.
Hi Rod. We have freshwater mussels in our bigger rivers like the Murray, and yes, I have tried them as bait but have never done that well on them tbh. Carp here aren't that fussy - I've caught on all sorts of exotic baits like sausage, luncheon meat, cheese, garden snails, raw and cooked chicken, but for ponds, bread is far and away the most productive as misguided locals regularly come and feed it to the ducks and the carp get the scraps! PS We have perch (called 'redfin' here) in South Australia and a few tench in closely guarded locations, but no roach or chub. PLENTY of carp though!
@@captainfrank01 Floating bread when the fish are visible on the surface works for me too and luncheon meat is on par with mussel [sure those I use are sea mussels]. I'm not an expert angler so I tend to just float fish as I'd rather see a float go down than hear a buzzer going off. Waters where I live are usually carp fisheries so it gets a bit boring just catching mainly carp. Tried local canal but it's dead with lots of algae in Summer. Not caught a decent size tench or perch in years. I need to find a fresh venue.

Hahaha, well done - hope it was G & B corn?
Yes Andrew only the best for the Capital... Gordy and Bazza will be pleased you’re supporting the cause 😂😂😂
Thanks turtle’s are the bane of fishing
I usually pack up and go somewhere else
The carp fought well as always
Yes, I have to say that I hate the bloody things!
Everything has a soul Frank and a place in the big picture 😇

Deos that count as a multi-species outing :) Not a bad effort in those water conditions. Nice job!
Thanks, but it was plain hard work Larry tbh! Shellbacks definitely DO NOT count as another species lol
Nice work Frank, a few carp is a good day in my opinion
Thanks Rohan, I guess so but you can certainly keep the hard shelled critters!
Frank have you and Doug ever fished at springbanks
Yes.

@@SaMaNtHa.2023 Local councils tend to get very twitchy about people using watercraft of any sort on their lakes and ponds - public liability worries.
BLAME me? You love the Shellbacks and you know it! You should be thanking me! 🐢🐢🐢
Hate 'em but look - I just got another bite! 😁
@@captainfrank01honestly, a bagful of shellbacks is preferable to my company. Why would you bait me? ;)

I suppose 3 is better than the 0 I got last trip ..... I kept a T for you to make soup. Absolutely, the float was king today for sure.
Haven’t got a “pinnie” that will fit and it will have to stand on chair 😂

You should get a swear box for everytime you use the (t) word. You could then buy out your sponsor.ha ha.
I've learned the hard way NEVER to say that word again! Doug, on the other hand, can't help himself and would make me a nice little bit of cash!
Cruel 😢
@@dougpetty6854 ..... but true 😁
@@captainfrank01 But Doug catches fish, not turtles. How does THAT fit your reasoning? Curious minds...
