    one cool feature the coppermind has is a time machine feature. if you're reading the books in release order you can set the wiki to look exactly as it did at a certain date/year or before a certain book came out. only really works after you've read the earliest stuff, but I used it a couple years back when I was catching up

      @@Bookborn I travel a lot for work. Usually have 2 10 hour trains a week. Used to watch Netflix on them but getting back into reading now, so it’s how I hammer them out. I also tend to only read one thing at a time, so it gets all the attention. And did mistborn era 1 first as it seems to be a lot of people recommendation for starting, then I did era 2. I’m quite OCD with things like that, and the same saga has to be finished before I start anything else. And yeah seen the insta about it. Looking forward to the review

    I think that was my comment at the beginning that you popped up in the video with the laughing face? 😂 Loved this video, and most definitely i would love all the Cosmere content you can give us because though I've watched several 17th Shard videos they ramble a lot and don't make things clear for new viewers if they have talked about it in the past. Honestly, as someone who's read all his books, I would love a video spoiling all the books and page numbers where Hoid shows up and read them in the video. That would be fun! Though I do think I've got most, if not all, of them by now. Maybe for all the world hoppers would be even better, whilst pointing out the clues that help you make the connections. One video for Hoid, another for the rest?

    I read Mistborn YEARS ago, forgot almost everything, and then picked up Way of Kings about 6 months ago. Since then, I've read all of the stormlight archive, both stormlight novellas, most of the short stories in Arcanum Unbounded (although I avoided ones with spoilers for books I hadn't read yet), Warbreaker, and Elantris! Now I'm in the middle of The Emperor's Soul with my Misborn box set read to reread!
    I can't wait to reread Mistborn now, knowing what I know about the Cosmere and keeping an eye out for Hoid. 😂And then I think I'll finally feel like I can read Mistborn Era 2 and the secret projects.

    Im thinking of beginning with the Way of the Kings. I've only ever read ASOIAF, HP, Dune (first 2 books). I absolutely love the prose of GRRM.
    How hard or easy would it be to absorb Sanderson's prose after ASOIAF (Which I've read 5+ times) ?

    • @Bookborn
      @Bookborn  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Look, I've read a lot, George is pretty much one of the best fantasy prose writers I've ever read and I"ll stand by it. So the adjustment will be large because people don't read sanderson for his prose, which is really no frills and basic.
      However, if you like the scale of ASOIAF and Dune, then you'll love the scale of Sanderson's books. He also has some great characters that people really resonate with which is a common thing people love about ASOIAF. I think starting with Way of Kings would be a good place for you since you're already into the epic stuff.

    I have wondered about the Cosmere. It seems like everbody talks about it, but it wasn't clear to me whether this connection between the books really adds anything to the experience of reading them. So far, I'm still at the stage of trying to figure out why so many people even like his books, and I definitely can't see myself going back and reading, say Mistborn again just to see if someone swears about storms.
    What I'm hearing here kind of harkens back to the LOST fandom, where people were posting theories about the black and white symbolism. "Ooh! Did you notice they were playing backgammon in this episode?" The real answer is that if we keep reading Sanderson, there is some payoff in the distant future. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      Imagine if Brandon mentioned ahead of WoR “oh yeah, spren are Shardblades” or “just to be clear, humans are alien to Roshar” before Oathbringer came out.
