Don't forget about the Touhou references on the characters creation: -Frisk and Chara's colours are almost the same as Satori and Koishi, Satori get along with animals and Koishi has a knife (even if Frisk is supposed to be based on Ness) -Papyrus is from a snow level, that we can considerate like the stage 2, and he is dumb, like our Beloved Tomboyish Girl, Cirno the Ice Fairy -Asgore's weapon are similar to Remilia's Gungir Bonus: -On the PS4 version, there is a dog shrine and you can donate, it is like the Hakurei Shrine from Touhou -The whole plot of Undertale is based on Touhou 11: Sealed Youkais underground who want to escaped, creatures who want become as strong as God -Omega Flowey's battle is literaly a bullet hell, but the soul's attacks are like spell cards
Toby Fox is a huge fan of EarthBound like Frisk They all have stripped shirt. -Ninten -Ness -Lucas Memoryhead looks like reference to Giygas' Earthbound also have Flowey
I love touhou more than undertale but I won't say undertale was a bad game at all. If touhou fans and underale fans could put their difference aside, we could maybe one day see a touhou/undertale crosss over? Im just kidding I doubt that will happen but could be nice.
I like undertale the game as a whole but a large chunk of the community is garbage and ruins it Touhou as a game is really hard (from my standpoint lol) but it’s community is pretty nice and cool, only a small portion of it is hella toxic (basicly none) Overall I’m just a casual gamer who likes to vibe with whatever
Yeah the touhou fanbase is one of the most chill fan bases I have come across. I have rarely seen anyone from the touhou community attacking other people (excluding undertale) unless your are intentionally rocking the boat, even then its only the really salty ones that will pick fights. Any time I have ever seen someone ask "what is touhou?" or "who is x character" or even the dreaded "Is touhou an anime?", the fan base will generally try to answer the question in great detail even linking wiki pages, etc. The community is also really accepting towards people who have never played a touhou game. Infact, I'd say a little over half of the western touhou fan base has never even played a single touhou game. That being said, its probably because of the natural barrier to entry that the touhou series has. You need to know a fair bit of the plot/characters of the popular games (EoSD, PCB, IN, MoF) if you even hope to understand most of the memes and inside jokes of the community. There is also a lot of overlap with the touhou community and the anime community, which is also generally pretty chill as well (excluding the MHA and similar fan bases of course). All of these factors generally attract people who are over the age of 14 making the community more mature as a whole. On the other hand, undertale is way easier compared to touhou and also easier to find (its literally on the front page of steam most of the time) while touhou games are near impossible to find unless you know where to look. Undertale also tends to attract edgy kids who are between the ages of 8 and 12. That group of people are generally not the most friendly which makes the Undertale community pretty toxic. I feel like if you removed everyone under the age of 15 from the Undertale community, it wouldn't be too dissimilar to the touhou community but the small children give the community a bad reputation considering they make up a pretty good majority of it. Anyway, this comment was ment to be short but I ended up writing an entire fucking essay about the touhou and Undertale communitys. TL;DR: the touhou fanbase is chill and nice and the Undertale fanbase is toxic cause of small children
@@RemsHusband That is true. I learned about touhou when i was 16 and people were happy to introduce me to it and talk about it. I was shared songs, lore and even places to find the game.
I feel like you spent TOO much time on Yandere simulator and Touhou Project so I'm going to make a quick list of stuff you missed: 1. The games dialogue itself, has many Earthbound references. Like how Sans says "On days like these, kids like you..." referencing a police officer with the exact same dialogue in Earthbound. 2. Frisk's design is an amalgamation of Ness from Earthbound, and Madotsuki from Yume Nikki. They wear a stripped shirt like Ness and have Asian eyes like Madotsuki. (The yellow skin is a mystery to me) 3. Speaking of Yume Nikki, That "Chill" scene with Nabstablook is an overall homage to Yume Nikki. 4. Sans and Papyrus are oddly similar to two other comic characters named after fonts. It helps that J N Weedle's name is in Papyrus and Sans' credits. 5. Flowey is an ENTIRE can of references. His theme syncs up well with the F.U.N song from Spongebob, most of his and the Amalgamates voice clips, are edited versions of McDonald's commercials, and his iconic laugh is taken from a PS1 game (that I can't name) 6. Once Upon a Time is a reference to the song Mother Earth from (use your best guess) and the opening sequence about the war against humans and monsters, has a very similar story to that of Cave Story 7. The song Determination was actually suppose to have a Zelda 1 game over vibe to it, but Toby was too lazy to change the pitch of the song in FL Studio. 8. The track Thundersnail is an edited sample on FL Studio 9. The hidden song Star has the same soundfont as the original Star Fox 10. Gaster's theme sounds similar to Lavander Town 11. Almost every song that centers the Annoying Dog, was made in Mario Paint. 12. A deticated artist by the name of Michelle Czajkowski (creator of Ava's Demon) donated to a joke tier on the Kickstarter page. That character later went on to be Muffet. Obviously, a reference to the famous nursery rhyme.
Dragoneex yea, I can tell. Since I'm a huge fan of Undertale in general, so I can respect that. I mean I wouldn't blame you. If I made an Undertale reference video, THE AMOUNT of Yume Nikki and Cave Story shit I'd focus on, would drive any fan of those 5 into insanity.

You forgot AlterniaBound's version of "MeGaLoVania", and "Brodylovania". The original "Megalovania" is based on "Gadobadorrer", Toby also took inspiration from "Megalomania". So, "MEGALOVANIA" is, indirectly, a remix of these two songs.

I'm pretty sure there is jojo references in undertale
Like chara say ORA when frisk rip of the punch card
Or entire mad dummy
Jojo's bizzare adventure was made after Undertale was released.
@@magdammmagdadimitropoulou6063
Is that supposed to be a joke?
@@magdammmagdadimitropoulou6063 jojo existed even before ut was released. The manga went back all the way to 1986.
@@magdammmagdadimitropoulou6063 lmao the manga was released like the late 1980s
@@magdammmagdadimitropoulou6063 um....jjba came out around 1987 undertale fans always say that they're game came out first....
I knew a bit of the references shown in the video, but I was not expect a hell of a lot of them, and I was super surprised to see Ace Attorney on there.
That’s really cool to see all these references and such
Damnnn I need that Complete Darkness and Megalovania Mashup, it sounds epic!
Yeah

Fun fact: There's also a Cirno mode in Yandere Simulator
@@ephraimium6755 everybody knows 🤯
the fact that the *green* soul's beginning is similar to koishi's theme and green represents koishi makes everything better
istg Undyne's theme could fit really well as a Touhou theme
Toby fox stole the noise master theme
FROM HIMSELF
Finally literally nobody else has pointed out that they’re both made by Toby
Those projectiles at 10:36 remind me of celebration mk2 from terraria, even though it was added years after undertale’s release
tbh I'm confuse at hell some people still saying touhou copy undertail bruh
how is this even possible when some of the touhou games came out waay before undertale
Undertale is basically Touhou but for beginners
Kinda
basically meiling easy modo
yep, play UT n then got yell by 2 bunny girl
Imagines UT fans saying that UT fangames are harder before watching some CAVE-likes Touhou fangames...
Im pretty sure asgore theme also references "mist" from persona 4

Undertale fans when they thought Yume Nikki was released in 2018:
For Undyne's theme piano&trumpet part I think I heard Cute Devil ~ Innocence from Touhou 4
undertale fans when they realised it's all a touhou reference
according to the description, homestuck is a game.
i was actaully surprised by the ace attorney refrence
Confused with the Undertale Vs Touhou fans thing
I got into Undertale first but I'm in love with both after getting into Touhou recently uou
Well I don't really get it either....
I think it's really just because ut fans back in 2015 were awful and triggered a lot of touhou fans for saying that bullet hell weren't hard cuz they've beaten sans...also a lot of people came from bad apple and said "hey! It's from ut right?"
And other stuff I guess :)
But even if I prefer touhou...I loved ut so I don't care about this war X)
@@echo6657 i'm fan of touhou and im not joining those conflict too
@@echo6657 no it's because UT fans claimed Bad Apple and stereotyped a lot of things about Touhou
Okay lets just compare sariel to toriel
A better comparison would definitely be Asriel. Sariel. Asriel. Both are angels of death.
What about Papyrus' first design being inspired by Dedan from OFF? This is a confirmed fact from the artbook btw don't sue me
9:33 someone might mentioned this already but the attack pattern is also similar to one of sanae's spellcard in mountain of faith
Hey! Seems you forgot some more:
Dating Tense! Is either a reference to Suspense from Ace Attorney or Heavy Rainfall from Pokémon Sapphire
And Dating Fight! Is a reference to Pursuit Cornered - Variation, from Ace Attorney.
"There are four versions of Megalovania"
Anyone coming here after Sans became a mii costume: There is another
Asgore's theme has similar tune to Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney - Jailer's Elegy.
Nah
10:34 This one reminds more of Byakuren's Star Maelstrom/Magic Milk Way
You forgot AlterniaBound's version of "MeGaLoVania", and "Brodylovania".
The original "Megalovania" is based on "Gadobadorrer", Toby also took inspiration from "Megalomania".
So, "MEGALOVANIA" is, indirectly, a remix of these two songs.
i'm learning more about undertale and toby's inspiration the more i delve deeper into it.
Friend(tm)ly reminder: Mima is also the trolly one in Touhou
Looks like it toby is a fan for everything
we have touhou eurobeat why we dont have undertale eurobeat??
The Yandere Simulator at the end made me laugh like hell because I saw no actual reason for adding it
i love how you used the fanmade "vriska in a bra" sprite for the homestuck megalo lmao
edit: aside from that this contains no homestuck references whatsoever, bruh
Lesson to make a very good and legendary RPG game: be only good at composing songs, make the game a huge refrence of your favorite game and every other random game you have seen
Undertale is a good game but as a rpg, its very bad
%89 of comments : Toby is a touhou fan
Because he actually is, indeed, a 2hu fan
Don't forget that Toby Fox drank beer with ZUN
Now makes sense was have the feeling what Undyne the Undying theme would fit in touhou...
I think Touhou project was mother of Undertale and father was earthbound
The theme of Asriel resembles that of Marisa Kirisame at some points

The symbols on Toriel and Asriel's outfit has three triangles, if one of the triangle (which is the bellow one) moved to the top (Edit : and rotated 180°), it would looks like Triforce
*TLOZ THEME STARTS PLAYING*
5:38 I thought it was a reference of Yukari's theme (Necrofantasia)
How do you hear necrofantasia
I think Toby Fox used the same soundfonts as the ones used in the other video games.
Toby is just too lazy, but a fucking genius at the same time.
@@ray_zor5585 very true
The enemy Loox says "Please don't pick on me." It's similar to a line said in final fantasy which the line was "QUIT PICKING ON ME!"

I think I found another music similarity in the song Undertale. The melody at 0:58 of "Once Upon a Time" to the rest of the song sounds like the beginning string melody of "Home Marbule" from Chrono Cross.
