    Brilliant video! It's normal for the 18:23 down to Eastbourne to be late. The only consolation is that it is a very comfortable service to travel on!

    • @TurboFintan
      @TurboFintan  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, slight delays in London Bridge can cause chaos and affect all services. It becomes a nightmare, as every train I was filming was at least 5 minutes late from 5pm.

    • @richardking6424
      @richardking6424 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nevertheless, it was a bloody good video! It was odd to see a 377/6, 377/3 and 377/4 all together for the 18:17 East Grinstead.

    • @TurboFintan
      @TurboFintan  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard King Thanks! That was the strangest 377 combination I have seen. It was very strange seeing a 3-car, 4-car and a 5-car paired up together to form 12 coaches!

    • @richardking6424
      @richardking6424 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TurboFintan I knew the 377/6s run down to East Grinstead, but it was a very interesting sight seeing that lot together. Unfortunately, we don't get the 377/6s or 7s on the East Coastway.The 442 does make up for it though.

    I never knew that Southern ran a once a day service to Guildford from London Bridge, interesting, and they run a once a day from Guildford to London Bridge in the early morning.

      agent00x They do also run to Victoria as well but the Southern services are certainly slower than of South West Trains!

    Are the 2 Class 442s working as a Southern Service?

    • @TurboFintan
      @TurboFintan  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah during peak hours some Class 442s work on Southern services and the rest on Gatwick Express duties. In this video, they were working to Brighton which is a Southern service.

      Gatwick express run now half a hourly to brighton,so there is a frequent train from London to brighton(including Thameslink and hove trains)@@TurboFintan

    • @TurboFintan
      @TurboFintan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Southern used to run 3 trains an hour between London and Brighton, (one was non-stop from Victoria to East Croydon) when GX trains only ran as far as Gatwick Airport. Then around 2010 the peak GX trains were extended to Brighton (this was the case at the time of filming) then several years later the extension ran at off-peak times as the half-hourly service you mentioned.

    Great video. Are the staff ok with u being there? reason I'm asking is cause I'm going here in the next couple of days and i don't want any of the staff moaning at me.

    • @TurboFintan
      @TurboFintan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chris Baverstock Thank you. I had a staff who came up to me and asked if I was filming but walked away when I said yes. I didn't use a tripod so not sure how they react to that at London Bridge but ask them at the ticket gates if you can take pics and use a tripod, which is what I usually do.

    • @AdventuresByRail377

    TurboFintan Can you do one of these at London Victoria?

    • @TurboFintan
      @TurboFintan  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul King I have done one at Victoria but if you mean the Southern side then that would be too difficult. I can try to do Battersea Park instead.

    • @paulking6501
      @paulking6501 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh - I have yet to see that. My mistake - apologies. Thinking about it, you're right about it being to difficult at Victoria: it's not as open as London Bridge (now). I know you have already done Clapham Junction, but that was during the amended timetable period due to the works at London Bridge. Could you do Platform 13 at Clapham Junction on a weekday evening? That would be extremely interesting - the view from Platform 13 is amazing, as we saw in your aforementioned video at the station! If you don't want to do that one again, Battersea Park would be a great alternative.

    • @TurboFintan
      @TurboFintan  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul King Thanks for that information but from that platform it sounds like you want to focus on Southern trains rather than both them and South West Trains. I don't mind but I prefer to film Southern trains in one visit and SWT trains on a different day.

    • @paulking6501
      @paulking6501 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TurboFintan Well, I am more familiar with Southern units as my local station is only served by them (and Thameslink units). Obviously, it is completely up to you. I think seeing the activity of both companies on a normal working evening will be very interesting!

  • @Trainboy350TransportVideos

    Isn't it a bit rare to see a 377/2 here at 19:58?

    • @TurboFintan
      @TurboFintan  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trainboy350 Not really as they are used on any 377 operated services as the /7s have replaced them on AC duties. However some were given to Thameslink so there are less 377/2s operated by Southern. You could say that a pair of 377/2s coupled together (there were two of them in that set) is quite rare.

    There are so many trains @ London Bridge and they are still so long??? Why? ( I am german so I can ask this Question)

    • @TurboFintan
      @TurboFintan  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Siemens 407 There are a lot of commuters and passengers who have finished work and are returning home in large numbers at the end of the day. The large number of trains and their long length handle lots of people. Sometimes it is not enough and overcrowding happens.

    They should just get rid of those 442, my god when I went on the new Gatwick Express trains I loved it so much. Plug sockets, reading lamps, coat hooks, WI FI (Finally). However they do lack big luggage racks and the first class is a disgrace. No more large reclining seats that have curtains and complimentary copy of premium newspapers and refreshments on board.

    • @TurboFintan
      @TurboFintan  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are no longer on GX trains although I think the newer 387s are a downgrade from the 442s. Honestly for me the 460s were the best for Gatwick Express duties.
