Michael Jordan famously said he wasn't a fan of his own second signature sneaker, the Air Jordan 2- but why after wearing the Jordan II after injury and after putting up record numbers in them did they still get such a bad rep, and are the Jordan 2's the lowkey GOAT Air Jordan Sneaker?

FACTS! Ultra underrated shoe in terms of playing comfort and traction. I'm a wide footer and weigh 240lbs, athletic build. These are super plush inside and wide footer friendly.
Too bad they are ugly….Jordan 9 are amazing for wide footers too
Yeah I was shocked at how good they felt for a 1986 design
I’ve got a pair and am not a wide footer but feel that the fit of this model pinches my pinky toe. I am flat footed but skinny foot. Wish I had gone up a half size on this model. Now I know for any future pairs, go half size up for a comfortable fit.
The Jordan 2 is one of my all time favorite silhouettes. Easily more comfortable than any AJ model until the 7, and I’d even say it’s the most comfortable Jordan until the 10. I dig the look too. Thanks for making this video! Love all your work.

its worth noting that the original Jordan 2s only had the heel air unit. Theyve since put the 3/4ths air units on the retroes.
Yup- I feel like for the channel it’s just better to show the ones that everyone can get now cut open since those would be the ones more likely to get bought

@@Chavanun555 thats cuz they make the retros with polyeurathane midsoles (3s to 9s) with closed cell polyeurethane nowadays. they did this since closed cell doesnt crumble as easily as open celled PU, which the OG's had, that was softer and more comfortable.

Not to mention that they were the true beginning of the line. Tinker took a lot from the 2 to design the 3. The eyelets, the animal print leather, lack of branding on the side, etc.
Always look forward to your reviews.looking forward to your breakdowns on other Jordan, the J11 & J12s are my favorites to play in. I had a retro J2 low and it fit narrow on me but I saw a lot of how it could work on court. It was a lot less clunky than it looked and traction was good.

I actually enjoyed playing in the 2. It was the retro because I was 8 when they came out and my mom was not buying them lol but as an adult I got a pair and really enjoyed them.
the original ones were a lot heavier, as the midsole was thicker PU, and the air unit was encapsulated by that foam, top and bottom, instead of just being on top of the foam
Jordan 2s are sick I am really looking forward to the neutral gray colorway releasing in may
had the retro concord purple 2s for a while. i did play in them couple times out of the box. it was comfortable and traction was pretty decent. it was just clunky compare to what i was playing in like the AJ28 and 29 at the time. wish i still had it tho, sold them to make room for other collecting hobbies. Out of all the Jordans i've played in my favorite is the 28 until the forefoot zoom exploded and the 30 which i still play in and the 12.

The J2s with the 3 plastic eyelets are more like Protros rather than a recreation of the OGs. Protros meaning that they took an old silhouette and added upgraded features such as EVA and 3/4 length air. OGs have 4 plastic eyelets for both highs and lows, came with PU midsoles, and only had the air unit in the heel.
J2 with 4 plastic is on it at size us Men 10 and more
The original Jordan 2 was also made in Italy back in 1986/7, obviously the leather was better. And had thicker polyurethane insoles they put in only very few selected Retro Jordans, that Nike started to do only a few years ago. They stopped putting polyurethane insoles back in 2002/03 for a long time Jordans had the cheapest insoles ever.
I love 2's and now that I am older 😅it's the best dad shoe ever

Hey Zach, can you test the ASICS sky elite ff 2 court shoe?
I have the Jordan 1.5s which have the 1 upper with the 2 sole. They're pretty comfortable, more than a pair of Flight Condors I had that I believe used the same sole as the Jordan 4.
I don't play basketball, I basically just wore them for weightlifting, elliptical and casual use.

The 2 is eons better than the 1. No comparison. In the OG "Chicago" colorway, they are great looking. I no longer have any wearable 2s due to crumbled midsoles....so I'm eagerly awaiting the 2 to drop this Oct. It hurt to watch you slice into a wearable shoe....but it was a great review!
I think in terms of performance, the GOAT is the Air Jordan 13 because it withstood the test of time - it's still better than most other modern shoes. Just gotta do something about the way it looks. Haha

Never as bad as some claimed, but never all that amazing either. There are many Air Jordans and the 2s are certainly one of them.
If I remember correctly, the Jordan 2 was also the first Nike shoe to not feature the swoosh logo..

Of all the 2's to chop in half you chose the Alternate 87's?? These are easily one of the best pairs of 2's ever made, the whole 'Alternate' line is fire, basically they're classic Jordan's in color ways that would have been allowed under the 51% rule back then meaning they had to be 51% of your teams base color like white or black,and in a color way Jordan would have prefered based on his preferences. The Alternate 89's are also easily one of the best Jordan 4 colorways ever (White and Red in a never before seen colorway that looks amazing) and the Alternate 90's are by far the best low 5's ever made (picture 6 infrareds made into a Jordan 5, basically 5 breds and also amazing looking), both the Alternate 89 and 90 go for around $400-$500 a pair, I can't imagine these are far off. You should have got the cheapest pair of 2's you could get and cut them up, cutting up Alternate 87's is sacrilege lol.

These are retros - yeah all the time - not sure why either I cut them and save people a bunch of time and money buying shoes that they won’t like or the shoe just collects dust on my shelf or gets worn away over time so 🤷♂️ I don’t pay much attention to them tbh

What's up with the false clickbait title? Michael Jordan never said he didn't like the 2s, he's never been quoted as saying that. In '87, he did contemplate leaving Nike, after Rob Strasser and Peter Moore left the brand to start their own company. It was a chaotic time for the brand, and given the lackluster sales of the 2s, due to reduced marketing $$ he felt he was going to be put on the back burner so why not leave. It's not because he didn't like the shoe. I suggest reading Swoosh the Unauthorized Story of Nike and the Men who Played There.
Th 2 were light year's better looking than the 1. Very futuristic.
Ngl as an engineering student I can’t help but laugh at his test. One of the first labs is proving human error is really hard to work with and this guys shuttle test is legit invalid on so many levels. 1. He cannot be consistent unless he’s a college level sprinter, 2.surface condition and temp and shoe temp 3. Tbh most of his test are just opinion I don’t even want to type more it’ll take too long

Yeah I’ve talked about this dozens of times the tests aren’t meant to be level 1 peer reviewed studies I do them to get a feel for the shoes and I post the results because people like to see them - I preempt my results constantly with descriptions of the factors that resulted in my times and what I learned from it- glad it could give you a chuckle during your studies, good luck in school
