From one legendary commentator to another, Doc always finds the right words. A great tribute for a great man.

Doc is a legend. I miss him calling games full time for my Devils. RJ never had a finer tribute than the final words from Doc here. RIP RJ.

At first I was so upset I blamed Bill Spaulding for Rick's death. Because the Sabres got eliminated from contention at the Prudential Center. But now I realize how asinine I was.

If you had to ask me the Mount Rushmore of hockey broadcasters, Doc and RJ are half the mountain.

Gary Throne would be on that mountain.

Man, that last bit from Doc absolutely destroyed me. And it made me miss hearing his calls so much more. He always knew the perfect thing to say or story to share during a game, and he did it again here.

Ted Darling, Doc & RJ were in a league of their own! IMHO, the 3 best of all-time, and 2 were our own in Buffalo!

I was listening to this live on WGR while at work and had tears in my eyes. I'm grateful to feel these emotions. RIP RJ.

Doc, my favourite announcer! That last bit at the end was perfect! One legend to another, hope to meet Doc, the man, the myth, the legend himself someday!

These two broadcasters drew me into the world of hockey. It'll be one of the most somber days in NHL history when Doc rejoins RJ.
Rest in peace to a broadcasting legend.

Let's not forget Peter's gone too. He was in on the '75 run when the Devils were in KC.

RJ is the only play by play guy that I felt comfortable about going to the kitchen and getting a sandwich... because I knew something was about to happen by the tone of his voice! He was a vocal camera! We were the kids with transistor radios under our pillows 280 miles east of Buffalo! His voice inflection painted a visual picture in my head! Today I am 64 years old and his calls still make me feel like a kid! RJ never gave up his hope... Now it is our hope again...On the day the Sabres bring home the cup... they better be playing his calls!
