    It was hilarious. The music you were playing earwormed my wife. Thank you for that.

    Beautiful Tim! Hey, your mention of putting out the video of your PBS show reminded me that your PBS broadcast of turning an ink pen, (15 years ago?) inspired me to get a lathe and start turning. Been turning ever since, even as a full time RV'er for the last 9 years on my Rikon Midi. God bless! Merry Christmas.

    Hi Tim, I remember the PBS episode of you doing this type of build, thought it was a neat idea, just never got a “round2it”. Maybe this time as it still is a neat idea. Thanks for the redo. Hope you and Brian stay safe and well so you and yours can have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (COVID free). Cheers, Tom BTW I saw you slip in a spindle gouge a couple of times 😲 I really like my EWT tools and chuck, both seem to work much better since I got my Robust AB a couple of years ago (Made in the USA, wonderful quality and fantastic customer service from Brent & Deb English).

    Tim, I seem to remember you did a shop tour video. Did you discuss the construction of it at all? I need to build a small shed/shop that I can get all of my tools in and the shed /shop need to fit on a rollback tow truck so when I move I can move my shop intact. I may need to make it in two sections so I can get all my tools in and just transport the two sections.
    What system did you use for the floor/foundation of your shop? A runner system under the floor? Pier, or slab? Is there anything you would do differently? Thanks for your time Tim.
    Happy Holidays to you and Brian.

    Very nice. At the end I'm looking at this thinking it would be really nice if instead of the veneer it could be some sort of translucent material that let's some light through. LED lights inside would make a nice hanging accent, it already has a 'lantern' look to it. I know you've done turning and gotten the wood thin enough for light to pass through, wonder if this would work?

    • @johngriffiths4874
      @johngriffiths4874 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Barb, I am not Tim but I have an idea, use a battery powered tea light inside the ornament with the translucent wall, then use thread chasing to make a removable bottom of the ornament to turn the light on and off.

      Pour some resin, you'd have to turn it a little but you could string the little fairy lights inside, they make them different lengths.

    • @woodturningwithtimyoder

    *coughs*
    Soooo why not just make all the blanks at once then cut them apart.... once you have your measurements down all youd have to do is make one long blank (or several longer like 3 or 4 globes in one) and cut to proper size....
    Make sure you factor in the kurf of your blade
