    I have been doing this ever since I’ve seen this video and I have increased my pure shots by 90%, lowered my handicap also. It’s my little secret that I’m not telling my friends lol.

    I'm an older golfer, and before I saw your video I came to this conclusion. I was a 5 handicap over 35 years ago. I played well, but I always lost distance due to my "before" the ball contact. I've been practicing this idea for a couple of weeks, and it's GOLD, right on the money. BTW, I only looked up this idea on TH-cam, because I was curious to see if anyone else had experienced the the same thing.

    Thanks again Tom for your great lesson advice. This has worked for me in hitting the grass after the ball. Another thing that me helped with this was keeping my right elbow (right handed) tucked close to my torso. Would you do a lesson that covers where both elbows should be in the back swing and follow through swing? Thanks again for your always helpful advice.

    This is probably the greatest tip in the history of ball striking!

  • @Virpugnator

    This tip is one of the most valuable to help you hit every iron shot clean and avoid fat shots.
    I’ve also tried putting the ball much further ahead in my stance, which allows me to make more effort to shift my weight and make solid contact
    Thanks so much for your tip

    Excellent explanation and demonstration Tom on hitting ball then turf! I have experimented with your recommendation and it does work if the body keeps rotating through the ball. If your body stalls, you'll still hit the ball "fat!" Always find value in your videos Tom! Keep up the good work!!

      Thank you John! The rest of the golf swing has to be good if you want to hit those irons pure! This is an extra layer of improvement.

    Hi Tom, I've tried this before but I only looked one ball width ahead. It worked really well. Is this just a drill or do you look there when playing golf? Also, do you look at the same spot when playing fairway woods etc? Thanks!

      @Weplaygolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Bill, thanks again for your reaction, what works on the driving range will work on the course, so yes I do the same on the course. When you apply this for a wood or driver you should try to look more sideways onto the ball… we will make another video for you on this.

    Hello, You said the low point is linked to the left shoulder (for right handed man) with a left arm extended. I have already heard that it is linked to the sternum.
    Could you explain please ?

    • @Weplaygolf
      @Weplaygolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Champion Valéry, thanks for your question, as you hold your left hand on top of the grip you actually create a leverage with the club. As this is gonna be perpendicular to the ground you will find out that this is the low point in your posture. You don’t hold the club in your sternum ☺️

    Great content as always Tom, I tried this concept before but it was prior to your tips I have followed on the golf swing. I am going to combine this with the other excellent information I've gotten from you and see if I can 'take it up a notch!' Salute to you sir!

      @@Weplaygolf Good day Tom, I am glad to say that this tip has definitely helped my consistency when striking with my irons. I also figured out that I had an issue with my release point that was the root of chunking my irons. I realized that I could see my hands coming through the zone and this helped me time the release of the club. Also today I was on the range and a young man was having some difficulty, I gave him the best tip I could think of...I directed him to We Play Golf! Salute to you Tom.

    Did this today before watching this video, thought maybe I was doing something abnormal. Video reassured me that it wasn’t. Never hit the ball so straight or far

  • @plannon25

    do you do this for 5i-9i?

    • @Weplaygolf
      @Weplaygolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi plannon, thanks for your question, yes I do this for all the shots where the ball is played from the ground, because it will make you hit down through the ball, I hope this will help you.

      Try different distances in front. My friend looks 6 inches in front and he is the best ball striker I know. I look about 4 inches in front. I’m curious what didn’t work?

    • @anx00750
      @anx00750 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tough to do actually, if one is used to looking at the ball. But I figure it is as much an issue of proper weight on the front foot. I definitely think - and it is logical - that looking 3-6 inches ahead of the ball will improve swing consistency.

      Does not work? Perhaps pickelball would be a more appropriate game for you. 😏
