    I agree. Hard to get into truckin when not many will give you time to get the experience we need.

    Hi rod. Thank you for answering my question. Very fair analysis on the topic and summed up up well. If it saves lives and forces other parties in the supply chain to lift thier game and reduce downtime for drivers and the trucks then it could be a good thing but time will tell.

      Hi Ben. If everyone is on the same page and works together it will all work. (Better wake up I think I'm dreaming) well the thought was there.
      A lot of drivers will not like it, but it's either go with the changes and see how it work or go find another career.

    That's the Bandag Burnout Truck - it's now owned by Laurie Williams from North Queensland Truck and Machinery Movements.... Laurie is a loyal Western Star truck supporter so Western Star supported the rebuild to what you saw there. That record was broken by the previous owner, Frank Gaffiero, when it was a Kenworth T400

    Absolutely agree with the 14hr standard, but on the condition that they let us manage our own fatigue. That would give us more flexibility to organize our driving to suit both our own fatigue and work around things like delays and traffic conditions etc.

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David.
      Managing our own fatigue seem to be the thing that keeps coming up. Still have the max 14hr work in 24. But let us handle the remaining 10.

    Hey Rod, good to see you are still out and about and uploading, I am currently browsing through a Japanese Magazine with all their aftermarket parts I picked up whilst over there last week at an auto show. Man do the Japanese have pride in trucking there! And boy do they love chroming everything out!

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tommy. Have seen videos on the Japanese trucks. They must have no weight restrictions, with all the chrome and lights not left for freight. But possibly all plastic chrome now.

      @@australiantruckerrod1070 Yep spot on alot of their stuff is chromed plastic. It still works.. In my opinion. Was great during the trip around the suntory brewary seeing the truck drivers load up, they are so on the ball with safety and manners. Great watching em work.

    11:40 that is an issue rod but i think in terms of safety it outweighs the few negatives. as you know in victoria they have done it all along the hume, helps at night as well because of the reflectors you can easily see the edge of the highway especially if you use high beam

    Pretty sure they have to pay for BFM compliance and the courses.
    A driver can have there own BFM but auditing management would be impossible with what they expect.
    Indians seem to have alot of money there always in these driving school trucks.
    Fatigue affects people in different ways, its not a program like they try to program everyone to comply.
    EWDs in states are only 10 hrs in 14.
    Be no good to Australia with 12 in 17 or 14 in 17 with BFM acreditation.
    We have the 1 hr in 24 hr break now.
    Spot on there rod with EWD.
    As soon as key is on 17 hr window starts.
    Any delays in chain is ticking.
    The loaders dont understand the load needs to be ready ASAP for shipping as time is ticking and sleep is not a option.
    Americans hate EWDs but older trucks with no electronic engines can use paper log.

  • @danielandrews4832
    @danielandrews4832 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you get stuck in traffic with the current log book you still need to legally put that time in your book.
    I agree with everyone on 14 hours a day. Let us manage our fatigue.
    6 days a week max. No.84 144 hour rule.

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I still dont get why Ausi, US and Canadian truckers moan and bitch abour electronic logs. Europe has had them over 40 years in one form or the other. I work in Canada the US and Canadian system is crap but still better than the paper logs. Im fed up of hearing from drivers moaning that they can no longer drive illegally and fudge their logs.

    • @bradstephens4268
      @bradstephens4268 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gremmie666 , it's not about driving illegally, it's about us human beings not being computers. I take it that you have never been a long distance truck driver as you obviously have no clue about what us drivers go through out there

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. As you have said, electronic logs have been in Europe in some form for 40 years, this means that the shipping and receiving companies are familiar with the way the system works, unlike Australia it will be a learning curve.
      Not sure how Europe trucking rules or laws work, if they are the same in every country?
      In Australia we do not have the same regulations in every state.
      My question to you, is how do the hours work in Europe, if an unforseen incident causes you to drive passed your work hours. E.g. on a motorway, with no way to exit before you time expires.
      As I mentioned, I have no issues with them personally as long as everyone is on board, and we have a short period of leniency while we are learning to use them.
      Oh and if they work on our mobile phone system we will be in serious trouble.🤔
      Thank you for you opinion, keeps the conversation going.
      Have a great day.👊

    • @cecil4485
      @cecil4485 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@australiantruckerrod1070 5 months late but yes driving time regulations are the same over Europe. If we ever have any issues finding somewhere to park up or go over our hours due to traffic or anything as long you park up in the next legal and safe location then you do a print out on the tachograph for that day and write on the back your reason for going over and sign and date it. If you're ever stopped by the police or DVSA for an inspection then you show them the print out and as long as it isn't something you do constantly you'll be fine. You also only need to keep the printout for 28 days after that there's no problem
