  • In the middle of May, I took a trip to Himeji city, Hyogo Prefecture. It's famous for its beautiful white castle, one of only 12 original castles left in Japan. I also went to Engyo-ji Temple on Mt Shosha, and the filming location for "The Last Samurai", the Tom Cruise movie.
So in today's video I'll show you the big sights you can see if you take a day trip there, including the following:
    1) Himeji Bus Terminal
    2) Shosha Station Cable Car
    3) Maniden Temple Complex, including Engyo-ji
    4) Koko-en Garden
    5) Himeji Castle
    Himeji City is accessible by:
The JR Railway Kyoto Line, to JR Himeji Station (about 60 minutes from JR Osaka)
The Sanyo Railway and Hanshin Railway - the companies share the tracks - to Sanyo-Himeji Station (about 100 minutes from Umeda Hanshin Station)
The Sanyo Shinkansen to Himeji Station (about 30 minutes from Shin-Osaka Station)

Hi! Was wondering how long did you spend at each location?

I didn’t spend that long because I’d been before, I was by myself, and I wanted to take videos of all 3 places. Maybe 1hr in the castle, 30m in the garden, and 1hr+ in Mt Shosha. You could easily skip the garden and spend longer in other places, just be careful of closing times and bus times!
