Hello, my mom and sisters are Moroccan, I am half Moroccan and went to Morocco last year for a month long visit to family. Dimash is my favorite singer. BTW the man in the audience is Dimashs’ father who came from Kazakhstan to surprise him. He has a 7 octave range.

I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning of this competition. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 19 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. Indescribably beautyful and emotional.
During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his style/habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰.
