Not a bad video. Sadly you missed a crucial portion of the survival of Brooklands. In 1967 Motoring Journalist William Boddy, BB to many, formed the Brooklands Society. There was a small group of enthusiasts trying to save the circuit prior to that point. There was also a Golden Jubilee day in 1957. For many years the society gallantly battled with bureaucracy and multiple efforts by local councils and developers to demolish the entire track. In 1987 the Museum Trust was formed. The trust and the Society continued to co exist for some years, Occasionally locking horns. Eventually after a couple of attempts the Society was integrated into the Museum Trust, in what some members described as a semi hostile take over.

You have done an excellent job in 7 minutes explaining the History of this incredible racing circuit, you also have a voice that conveys the importance and significance of that place and era.

I visited Brooklands in 1982, to buy Lancia parts at Tony Brooks Lancia Garage. I could swear, If you closed your eyes and listened . You could hear the sound of the early racing cars on the Banked parts of the Circuit.

Back in the 70s I spent many a sunday afternoon on the members banking with a couple of mates clearing trees out of the concrete. This was done unofficially and several times we were chased off by the security though sometimes were allowed to carry on as we weren`t doing any harm, just improving the place.

I don't understand - why is Charles Rolls desribed as "infamous"?

Very odd. He was the youngest son of 1st Baron Llangattock and a keen proponent of engineering, cycling, motoring and flying, but I've never heard of any "infamy".

The use of Asphalt and Tarmac was in its infancy when Brooklands was built, so it's not surprising it was never used. In it's early form, Tarmac would probably not have been stable enough to stay in an even layer on the steep banking.

Its a terrible shame the track isnt intact Its a lot like the Indianapolis motor speedway here in the states We almost lost it after WW2 Thankfully it was saved from demolition I would have loved seeing a race at Brooklands

The steering wheel on this is massive. It must've been like steering a ship.

Interesting, but somewhat misleading to show Campbell's bluebirds at Brooklands, since none of his LSR records were set there.
