    I think it would be wonderful if you could explain us how this were actually made by the women in their time, and how they hold it in place. I find your videos amazing!!

      Rewatching this video again, and I have to say that the style with the bun that can be twisted down to the side is easy to do with curly hair! I do it all the time when I put my hair up in a top bun, and you can make it levitate just based on the fullness of your hair!

    I had always wondered how they managed to get their hair in such intricate styles. It never occurred to me that hair pieces would be used! I wonder what material they would use to make the hair back when we didn’t have synthetic material?

    • @Hearthburn1
      @Hearthburn1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Hair! Wigs and hairpieces historically would be made from human hair the same way many extensions are today. Poor women would sell their hair, or for pads of hair that were used just for bulk and were tucked under where they weren't seen, people would save the hair from combs and brushes.

      there are some hairstyles she did (in it's in another video in her channel- th-cam.com/video/FAoWpw1gRVA/w-d-xo.html) with just the hair volume inserts, those work as it's meant to be wrapped under the hair. Looks more natural for people with dyed hair/non black hair 🙂
      But those you kinda need to twist the buns and braids yourself, aound the hair inserts 😅

    I've always wondered about Footbinding in China. There is a lot of information saying that it is an old feudal custom. But I am really interested in the traditional culture of the ancient Chinese people, because at that time the moral values were really much higher than the present era. So I really want to know about the habits of old women. I believe what they do has a sense of preserving moral values. Thank you very much if you could be interested in my comment
