Great video. Looking to get a vxr tourer before the death of the internal combustion engine; much appreciate your experience as to whether a 2014 model would be notably better than a 2011 and if the automatic is decent enough (pref is for manual but they're in short supply). Cheers
When you hear of 4200 for a haldex or 2000 for a cam change you really can see what good value cars are when new. Imagine ordering every part to build one insignia vxr over the counter and add up the total cost vs the cost of a fully assembled new vxr for say 35k. Eye watering how repairs can add up.
Had a vectra vxr for a year and never had any issues with it whatsoever, share the same basic engine as the insignia. Would love one of these one day but would be weary of the haldex going
I’m considering one of these, as a general rule of thumb, are these issues widespread, or are the vast majority of cars trouble free so long as they’re looked after properly? And, does £10k get a good one?
Hello. I own an insignia OPC (EU version of the VXR) and I have engine vibration around 1.8 - 2k RPM, is lowers after 2k and reappears at about 2.4 to 3k+. Ignition coils changed, spark plugs new, injectors cleaned and checked (less than 5% between them). It's a 2013 that should have the updated chains. No chain symptoms even at cold start after months of sitting. Lower engine mounts are due to be changed (rubber is cracked). after injector cleanup is does this worse in neutral than on load on the street.
Is it true that the 2011 onwards cars have improved timing chains and haldex units, and are therefore less likely to fail? I really have my heart set on getting one of these cars as I love everything about them. Great video by the way.
I'm having trouble locating my coolant temp sensor on my insignia vxr. I have a new one that i need to put in. By any chance you could point in the right direction please. I want to try and avoid dealerships if you know what i mean. Cheers.
Found one of these that you've modified been informed it's a vxr r. Will you have information on the car considering you've done work on It like brakes haldex and clutch?? The cars number 4 of 25.

Either is fine, later models better generally and auto is ok certainly no worse than manual in terms of issues.

I'm afraid it's more luck that timing on the cars, but yes, the later models suffer less

We are near Silverstone in Northants. Vectra is easier to do
