Once lived in Byfleet and would often explore the outside of the Byfleet banking and find bits of 20's and 30's racing cars in the leaf litter and soil under the trees 30 and 40 years after they went over the top. The last whole aircraft to be built and take off from the Vickers Armstrong (later BAC) factory was the VC10's, always over the village as the railway embankment was at the Weybridge end of the runway and had a blast deflector to stop the jet blast from blowing trains over. Few aircraft returned to the factory after the Viscounts and Vanguards were withdrawn from BEA and BOAC service, only remember one BOAC VC10 that returned and left again as the first RAF VC10 air to air refueling tanker, they replaced the ageing ex V Bomber Victors and Valiants. The rest were converted at Filton, Bristol or by the RAF who had VC10's as transport aircraft. Bits of Concorde were made at the Brooklands factory. The TSR 2 was going to be built there and at Filton before the project was scrapped after the prototype was built and undergoing testing.
Fantastic, thanks for giving those of us who no longer live in the UK a real treat. That Hillman Husky was absolutely fantastic, probably my favorite featured in this video.
Brooklands, amazing place to be just due to their variety of vehicles. Wanna go there again at some point and I'm actually thinking of volunteering there in order to get experience with vehicle maintenance and repair. They run their vintage buses every so often, you can get them during heritage running days for example where they run on the existing routes they ran on. 62 in Dagenham will be getting a heritage running day this March actually.
Some great old cars Matt and at times I did feel like I was doing 150mph in my armchair 😂, gosh you sped around the cars so fast my head spun 😁. Looked a good day out and nice that Furious Junior is becoming a chip off the old block .
The interview with Ian wasfantastic! It was nice to see all my favourite TH-camRS in one place. I know you have been to the different shows together this year, but I don't think I've seen a structed interview together. Therefore, this got me thinking, Who did I watch first and in what order? I think I stated with you because I've just received my third calendar. It was sometime before you did that massive country to country trip. As you know, I am severely disabled, so was naturally was drawn to TWC. We had a friend with Polio who had one. So the question going through my mind was; Why does this no-disabled man want to use a disabled three wheeler? I'm not sure, however, now I don't care. The next person was Steph. I just found her. Being into older vehicles, I just started watching and became interested. Then came came Matt. Again, I was just browsing and came across 'Fundraising' and liked it so stated watching. Then last, but not least Elton and Claire. I found UK Barn Finds through ACA. Then got 'hooked on that too. During CVD19, I came across HandH Classic Car Auctions Watched them. Loved it, then looked for more. Found ACA started watching them. Then found Manor Park classics, started watching them. Now, I think I think I watch about 6 or 7. The reason is dad took us to the auction to buy the family car. The funny thing is the cars we bought as family bangers that we kept for a year or two at the most [until they dropped to bits] are now CLASSICS! As some of you know, I type with my nose.
I had an invite to this one but had to decline due to circumstances but it looks like it was a great meet up. My brother who lives nearly 100 miles away from me (a car enthusiast from birth) did make it did spot you out and about though. Many thanks for sharing.
The two archetypal people's cars (and in fact contemporaries for a while, weren't they, the Model T and Austin 7 at3:25; look at the difference in size between them! The Model T wasn't a small car
Wow what a selection , I must make the effort to try and visit the Brooklands museum especially when some kind of event like this is on . A long way from Lancashire sadly .
Having grown up just up the road in Epsom I recognized at least two of those cars, a Lotus which belonged to and old girlfriends dad and the Just Roofing van. I didn't even know this was a New Years Day event. Next year.
Wish I could have been there.... I would have tried to take my 1953 A40 Somerset! My ears pricked up when I heard you say Gumdrop!! My childhood and the books by Val Biro....who lived near me here in Chesham in Buckinghamshire. Gumdrop was a favourite at fetes and local carnivals. I actually saw Gumdrop on the road about 5 years ago near me in Ashley Green..... do you know if it's still around now?
Great Meet Matt, looks like a meet I one dsy have to come down for and tick brooklands off the bucket list. The R8 Sprint has to be my favourite of the show.
The little red GT at 6mins is a Unipower by some way the most attractive Mini based special.A "works" car even ran at Le Mans(can,t recall whether it finished)
@@furiousdriving it's all in middle and south of the country. And mostly tuner, American Muscle and club scene of course. I just want a general car meeting with nice young timers and classics.
Excellent video Matt, much appreciated. Such a great variety of cars. The UK seems to have some of the greatest car meets in the world. Was that Fiat sports car the same one that Jeremy Clarkson drove in his last Top Gear episode. 😊👍
Some great cars there must make the effort to go next year, Be nice if I can get my Lancia 2000HF coupe back on the road for that!!!!All the best for 2024. Bob
Official number of people through the door… 7000. At £22 a head that’s £154k gate £10 for a hot dog and £12 for a duck wrap !! Someone’s making some money 🙄
I am astonished that the Allegro estate is now considered a classic. I used to have a white, 1976, P reg. one back in the early 80s and it is, without doubt, the worst car I ever owned. And I've had some real doozies over the years. There are, however, some really great vehicles here. I loved the Hillman Husky.
Not necessarily the need for a Peugeot bike. For years all the support cars and official cars were provided by one of the main sponsors who also got their name plastered across the finish line. Used to be Pug then for years was FIAT these days its been Skoda
Like @kevinnye5132 these whistle stop, shoot and move on videos don't do it for me. I'd rather you picked out half-a-dozen most interesting vehicles and gave us a proper look...
@furiousdriving That wasn't the thought behind the suggestion, Matt. You frequently analyse the styling and bodywork features in your car reviews which gives a much better perception of how a car looks. That was what I had in mind rather than an exhaustive history of the specific vehicle...
You should try to get a drive in a Unipower as it is a very highly regarded Mini based special and was only made in very small numbers, so it's a rare spot.

that must have been really interesting to hunt for car parts in the woods!
It was spectacular. With a Concorde airliner as a backdrop!✈

Yeah I liked the Husky too. Looked an impeccable restoration. Aston Martins and E type Jags. are so
common. 🤣

Thanks for the highlight at 8:51, that was my Solar Gold Mk3 escort that I inherited from my Grandfather. Totally original, warts and all.

Very brave taking them out on winter roads here in the UK, it's not the salt this time but the flooding, great video Matt.
New Year’s Day was quite nice in the morning, we were lucky with the weather
I couldn't believe what I was seeing - a Mk 1 Escort 2-door with a full-width front-bumper and the original hub-caps. Unbelievable! 😂🤣

Loads of cool cars Matt nice to walk around and see all too 👍couldn't go but wanted to maybe next time

5:42That's another disadvantage of not needing tax discs now, you could peer at the tax disc to find out what something was

I dont know, I assume it still will be. I loved those books too!
That white 5 door Mazda 626 was nice, wouldn't mind having that as a daily
yes, with 4 wheel steering according to the decals
Great Meet Matt, looks like a meet I one dsy have to come down for and tick brooklands off the bucket list. The R8 Sprint has to be my favourite of the show.
9:31ish .... was that a MK1 uno turbo ??
yes, not sure if it was original or DIY
At 16:08 I spotted Taylor's BMW Z3 from Autoalex.
I saw him walking in the distance, would have been good to say hello!
The Alfa seats are from a 916 GTV or Spider
ah, knew I recognised them!
14:35That's louder than Concorde!

Amazing gathering of cars! Thanks for the walkaround. Jealous of the car scene in the UK, we don't have that here.
Where's "here"?
@@stephenholland5930 Northern point of the Netherlands.
I thought there was quite a good classic scene, Ive seen lots of American cars and Jaguars, or do the meets not happen as much?

great show by the looks of it.
Lada Samara ❤
What are the two cars at 7:47 ?
Reliant scimetar, and...?
Chevy Nova
Haha just saw your review :P@@furiousdriving
Wow, so much want! I'll have the Samara and the Bedford CF van, please..
No Brooklands 280 Capri????
Lots of nice classic cars so many
Always wanted to go there buf I live up in Scotland so to far to travel but great seeing the videos

Little red sports car is a Unipower not a Lenham. Mid engine and mini based.

Oh so enjoyable, thanks
the bike on the Bianchi Peugeot funnily enough is a Bianchi.
not being much of a bike botherer Id not heard of them!
@@furiousdriving I'm sure you have, you know Autobianchi, right? A consortium of Bianchi, Fiat and Pirelli 😉
5.50 is a mini based mid engined car called a Unipower - sorry just saw some one also commented on the same car.
Body in the boot? You could bump off a whole town into the back of that Torino Wagon!
All is quiet on New Years Day
A world in white gets underway
😁👍
Will take the Charger there next year ☺
The E30 Baur is my favourite 3 series
they are a cool oddity, amazing still built after BMW started doing their own
@@furiousdriving yeah, but I love the roof line with the smaller rear side windows giving it a bit of a coupé look.
Remarkable number of folks who seem to be wearing not coats, but blankets....
Lovely cars and good video Matt 🚗🚙🚘👍👍👍👏👏👏⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'll take the Chrysler New Yorker, thanks.
Nice video. A lot of nice cars. I love that Junior is enjoying the cars. How old is Junior?
Probably a few hangovers kept the crowd low 🙉
The furious fam are slowly coming out of hiding 😊

Fantastic turn out Matt. Do you think furious Jr will get a classic?
hes already claimed the 220 Coupe
👌👌
I thought we had a moment.. Hello btw 👋
Great video, Matt! Maybe next time mic up the two of you? 😅
we were just chatting most of the time, not great for video!
You dont care much for motorcycles if you can walk past what seems to be a quite special MV Agusta without mentioning it. 😉
This is true, I’ve never been into bikes so no almost nothing about them

the owners are almost never with the cars at these events so finding information about a car beyond factory spec isnt possible sadly,
